You know nothing is simple.

Be it a signing, or a contract renewal, the blades will do their best to spread it over 4 weeks plus :D

We will probably back down on the release clause.

We are hardball negotiatiors on everything. Some positives to it. But the negatives are obviously situations like this + long drawn out incoming signings, missing out on decent targets that go onto teams like Villa. Should have broken the rules for iliman. Ask for 100m if we want initially bit negotiate close enough yo what makes him happy. Idiots

Sounds like he's off, wonder if the bid for the Georgian kid is true then and this is where the funds are coming from

Would Marseille really sign Aubameyang, Sarr and Ndiaye? Seems like a scatter
gun approach

Iliman wants the three year deal. He wants to stay in England and he is happy. The negotiation around the release fee has been ongoing for almost 10 days now since Iliman advised he would sign a new contract with us.

This could just be Ilimans agent leaking his hand on one last occasion to get us to budge our release clause down by say 5m.

Iliman probably not even involved in any of this.

I think he plays tonight THEN Nicko does a reverse statement tonight advising '11th hour United compromise seals contracts turnaround'

Everyone happy, United a touch worse off on the deal than they wanted, agent and Iliman a touch more happier. Nicko probably a touch richer too.

That's how Nixon tends to do it. He will spin it either way.

Is it really a case of us playing hard ball on the release clause?
How low would you want the release clause to be and I’m not talking for the one if we get relegated? I think his agent and advisors are taking the piss a bit with what they want. That’s not the only factor constant persistence from Marseille aswell is playing a factor obviously.

Unfortunately the power is with the player and his agent and they are not going to want to lock in a high release clause as they could get that money next season in their own pockets if someone comes in for him

Seems like we've shot ourselves in the foot when negotiating.
Surely we should have just conceded significantly on the release clause?

Nixon and yourself seem to know the most about the inner goings-on, so I take it he's now off?
If the release clause is above £17m which we're looking at getting right now then surely its an educated risk. If we were to get him to sign new terms with a release fee of £25m and he only stays until January then its more than we're getting right now and we've had half a season to asses if we've got any hope of survival.

Seems daft to hold out for £35m release clause right now if the Ndiaye is unwilling. We're not in the driving seat and he's our best player.

I'm sure its nowhere near as easy as I'm suggesting though.

I think any lower than £25m if we stay up is taking the piss, and that's cheap. Relegation £10-15m - we'll need him off the wage bill anyway
