Berge

I heard a story last year, second hand but no reason to doub it, about somebody who went to do a job at Sander's apartment at Hallam Towers. He's a Blade (may even be on here) and when she found out he was a Blade, Mrs Sander said that he'd be back from training soon if he'd like to wait and say hello, which he did.

I certainly wouldn't mind spending a bit of extra time in the company of Mrs Sander

Gone from "Wanting to keep options open" to "Not interested"

Also not sure he'll be here when his contract is over.

A bit disappointed in Sander if that is true but then again he has had his national team manager in his ear telling him to leave for ages now.

The situation of Sander is different to Iliman.

Berge's on a decent contract already, so there is less incentive for him to sign up to a new one.
He's best served running his deal down and becoming a more appealing market prospect on a free.

I don't see any reason to be disappointed in him, he's been professional and has stayed beyond expectations.

If we want to best look after ourselves we should probably sell him and reallocate the funds to permanent midfield replacements.

I like Sander and I do rate him as a player, but typically he'll start and finish the season strongly and get injured and lose form somewhere in between.
It doesn't sit right with me losing him on a free next Summer and losing the opportunity to properly replace him.
He's good, but not totally irreplaceable.

Per Darren's tweet, losing him on the last day would be the worst case scenario.

I never understand this. He's never kicked off or pushed for a move when bids were in, nor has he downed tools.
Why would you be disappointed in him if he completes his contractual obligation but doesn't want to stay?

Well I thought he would be open to a new deal now we are back in the Premier League even with an adjusted release clause.

Don't see why we'd sell him on deadline day, when we held firm in January

Agree with this and I also wouldn't take anything that Darren Smith tweets at face value.

To be fair to the guy he's never kicked up a fuss despite spending 2 years in the Championship and he's every right to run his contract down as annoying as that may be.

Hasn't he done the opposite of covering all bases?
He's said he won't sign a new deal and might even leave this Summer...
He's said, he's keeping his options open...

To he's not staying.

To he's not likely to even stay till the end of the season.

All the above covers all eventualities.... so he can delete as and when one happens and claim he knew.

I didn't interpret "he's keeping his options open" as "he's considering signing a new deal."
More, he isn't going to sign a deal so that all options are open to him at the end of this one.

Which aligns with "he's not interested in a new deal" and "he's not staying."

I have a feeling that he is on his way as has made it known he will not sign a new contract and we are happy for him to go as it provides some much needed cash which can be used to sign two players who will not weaken us very much. Whereas illi would leave a big hole in the squad which is too large to cover

El Accounto gets a lot right and is well informed as we know. But his mood changes with each passing day meaning the delivery of his responses on Twitter edge from optimism, to pessimism to realism. Generally the bottom line of his information remains the same but how he words things can be confusing versus his previous posts.

Im not sure on that, else he'd have just said that in the first place.

Does that mean we can't sell him, if he doesn't want to leave? Never sure on things like that.

Doubt anyone would offer much over £5m in the circumstances...
I generally don't have a scooby in this field when they have a year left. Coventry got 20m for Gyokeres who's also an international out there, but goalscorers are always worth more I suppose.
