Why would someone who is about to maybe £60-£100k a week be bothering selling the old ikea furniture to time-wasting idiots on Facebook?
Jesus Christ this is not difficult. If we offer him a two year deal on a hundo a week, that is an expense of 5 million a year. If he accepts, that gives us two things:
1) His registration through to the end of 24/25, which has value far in excess of the 5 million spent if we were to sell next summer regardless given the prices we are seeing quoted right here, right now (and it is perfectly reasonable to theorise that Ndiaye's value might go up in the interim period)
2) It gives us a season of (hopefully a happy) Ndiaye at the same time, which if it does as much as see us finish 19th rather than 20th, gets us 2 million back in the bank in merit payments instantly. 4 million if 18th rather than 20th, and if we stay up, it's hitting the jackpot
This is really a case of team "how much" not looking at what they perceive to be large wages in a vacuum (which, in PL terms, really aren't) and looking at them as costs which will pay for themselves easily in any realistic scenario
No it's definitely not difficult to spend other peoples money.
I also love how this notion that everyone running the club are complete dullards and are incapable of thinking up such ideas themselves. Cannot possibly be they're speaking with the lad & his agent regularly and know what is and isn't possible.
Then I think we will have to agree to disagree on the best way to stay up. For me, selling our only realistic attacking force for even the higher ends of what I've seen quoted, hoping to hit on some lottery pick transfers (which Hecky probably won't even trust anyway) would be the worst bit of transfer business the club has done in decades.
Ndiaye and his agent will be looking for a huge signing on fee, that's why he won't sign a new contract.Jesus Christ this is not difficult. If we offer him a two year deal on a hundo a week, that is an expense of 5 million a year. If he accepts, that gives us two things:

The club may well be thinking of this, I'm not saying they're not - I hope and pray they are. I'm just trying to make the point that we should be doing everything in our power to try, and the power we have is much greater than we think, and that anyone that looks at wages where there are five figures before the decimal point and the first one is greater than a three and immediately thinks we'll be in administration as a result is perhaps a tad misguided. I don't think we disagree on the approach to take, merely the arsenal we have to fire to get it done
It's probably the sensible choice in our situation. Us not having a year option is something I will blame the club for though. It’s depressing that we’ve been conditioned as a fanbase to accept such crap decision making and lack of ambition. And I’m not criticising the fans in any way, it’s just poor ownership over the last few decades.
9 (?) seasons in the top flight in 50 years is because of decisions like selling your best player after a promotion season. Truly disheartening.

Ndiaye and his agent will be looking for a huge signing on fee
Define huge?
MASSIVE!Define huge?
Yep which leaves us incredibly exposed. And we would be able to attract far better players this summer than next with less money! The reason clubs get established in the PL is they build around their best players. All of ours are out of contract next summer with the exception of Anel.
Worst sale since Deane in the Prem. All but guarantees relegation.
I’m hopeful that we’ll use the transfer fee to invest in the squad, which didn’t happen when we sold Deane.
Near enough every team in the Premier League will sell their best player at some point, it’s how you react to the sale that is key.
£20m is peanuts, if we even get that. Wouldn’t replace Doyle & McAtee let alone Ndiaye.
£10MDefine huge?
Nonsense. Goal scoring strikers are worth more.Ndiaye is 3 times the player Gyokores is at the very least. He’s a very uniquely, outrageously talented footballer. Gyokores is very good at playing his role but that type of striker are ten a penny. The fee for Ndiaye has to be £30m minimum.

What he said.I've loved Illi being at the Lane. What he owed us for giving him an opportunity he's already paid back in spades through his performances. I'm sure the club has tried to convince him to stay, but he's made no secret he wants to play for Marseilles. That doesn't mean they don't need to pay a sizable wedge for him. If that happens it will of course be a sad day for us fans, but he'll go with my best wishes and gratitude for giving us some magic moments. I certainly wouldn't begrudge Illi his dream move.
I won't begrudge him his dream move next summer. But we very much need him and he's got another year on his contract. So I think if he leaves now I'll be a bit disappointed with him, aside from being gutted for United.I've loved Illi being at the Lane. If the reports are true that he signed or will be signing a 5 year deal with OM.... Then he's basically fucked us over. We won't have a leg to stand on.
Agreed a 5 year deal yet Marseille apparently have not made an official offer?
I largely agree with you. I'll be gutted for United if he leaves as he's our great entertainer and I love seeing him in the red and white. In terms of disappointed in Illi (and the club for that matter), I'll reserve judgement as we'll probably never know how this has all been done.I won't begrudge him his dream move next summer.
