We could very well be in the championship but without him still and no 20 million extra
We can't force someone to sign something if his mind is made up. We could sell him, get a few long term players on and still stay up you know.Which would be results oriented thinking, I'd rather take my chances with Ndiaye for one season and let him walk, rather than selling him and reinvesting that money in random players. Of course, I'd rather us match and improve on whatever contract Marseille might offer now and have him extend through to 2025 with a relegation clause so we get the player and the money, but for some reason certain people here think we somehow cannot do that

What's right is to give us the best possible chance of staying up. If we think we can get a few more Anel quality players in on with that money then it's a no brainer imoWell no, we can't, but we can at least ask him to listen. Marseille would still be there in twelve months. Besides, I think that our expected TV money in 24/25 would easily fall by more than whatever we get for Ndiaye, regardless of how that money is spent - what the actual end result is, stay or go, is not really relevant to whether it is the right decision to make right now.
Not sure I understand your point?Good job the pic wasn't of an abbatoir, depicting the ill-treatment and abuse and slaughter of innocent creatures, but it wasn't was it?
Get fucked off fabrizio..Fabrizio Romano now reporting that "Olympique Marseille and Sheffield Utd are now prepared to negotiate for Iliman Ndiaye"
Well, yeah - that's how a transfer works. No wonder he got so famous with insight like that

Who the fuck r uI'm putting 2+2 together and getting 4 here, you're putting 2+2 together and hoping it's not![]()
If it's 20 million and we can spend it it's still a blow but one if we we have good replacements lined up doesn't need to be terminal. For all we know he could get injured and miss the season anyway. Then I think we will have to agree to disagree on the best way to stay up. For me, selling our only realistic attacking force for even the higher ends of what I've seen quoted, hoping to hit on some lottery pick transfers (which Hecky probably won't even trust anyway) would be the worst bit of transfer business the club has done in decades.

it's up to Illi whether he plays for his current £7k a week (guess) or extends and plays for £50k a week (also a guess).
Plenty of clubs our size manage to find good cheap gems. We even did it last time we were in the Prem with this lad from Boreham Wood...I forget his name now...Again, results oriented thinking. If the board shit the bed at the thought that someone might go full Rob Hulse we'd never sign anyone. I'd also love to work out how you will replace a fraction of the attacking threat Ndiaye has even if you shoved the entirety of the transfer fee into one player, which it seems like you don't want to do.
He's under contract - he can't go anywhere without our say so.In a world where Lingard was on 200k/week, do you really think that offering Ndiaye that would result in anything other than him hanging up the phone and start looking at zoopla.fr?
I think you're partially correct, but I also think he will go. There are 2 factors here.I'm calling this bullshit. A few journalists are writing headlines to get clicks, that's what they do. OM might even be stoking the fire and trying to turn the boy's head, but last we heard they hadn't even contacted United. If they eventually do get round to contacting us, PA will say £30m or fuck off, and off they'll scurry with their tail between their legs. We keep him to the end of the season - it's up to Illi whether he plays for his current £7k a week (guess) or extends and plays for £50k a week (also a guess).

He'll go at the end of the season, that's a given.
I'm of the same opinion regarding keeping him - I would rather him stay for the season too even if it means he walks for free at the end of it.We may find diamonds in the rough, sure, but finding someone that will help us right now is an entirely different question. The closest thing we could probably find is something like a Jebbison 2.0, but as Hecky seems unwilling to test the original then that is not helping us in the short term
I know that, I'm fine with that, I'm prepared to let him walk for zero twelve months for now as one season of Ndiaye is worth more to the club than the expected value of players we could bring in for any transfer fee we could reasonably expect to receive in the next month. My point is that if the club want to make an attempt to get Ndiaye to extend, you make an offer that is commensurate to his value and talents, and fifty grand a week isn't that, and if I was offered that in Illi's position I would consider that an insult to my intelligence and start looking at the property market in the south of France - whether that is to use in twelve months or twelve days, no big deal to me

In what universe are Sheffield United under current ownership in a position to be throwing contract offers around over 50k a week? We have to be realistic here.
In the world where we have £100 million worth of TV money available to use, would like to get the same again, and think that investing a touch more than 2.5% of that in trying to both retain our star player and resale value on the same might be the best way to do it.
Yes because there's absolutely nothing already accounted for out of that 100m and we certainly haven't just been in an embargo because money is beyond tight. I'd love to throw 100k a week at Ndiaye, but the reality is that's not where we are.
