Just give him 60 mins at a time and watch the OPO players just bounce off him and run themselves into the ground.
Getting ripped in the gym is very different to been upto the rigour of defending against the best players in the world

Can he cope with the physicality of twisting and 20-30yd burst of speed to keep up with Haaland etc?

He may be physically fit, but needs at least 20 games to get his footballing brain working again, loan to Derby or Rotherham to stress test that before he can challenge in the toughest league in the world for me

Would be like a £20m signing if he can make it, but needs to prove he’s ready for EPL before we risk him imo

Yep, take your point, but let's not forger that there are 12 - 15 other teams in the PL that don't have generational talents up front. No doubt the challenge will be massive for JOC - a Play for Pay deal reflects that and would offer the lad a way out of an absolute career nightmare.

He'd definitely need half a season of games and it's not just the stresses and speed of the EPL game, but contact. There's also the mental side as well, whether he'd be able to fully commit into tackles.

Coady is a better player than Norwood and could play midfield or defence so is value for money as a utility player.
I'm not convinced he's much faster than Norwood. Which is Norwood's only major flaw.

I feel like I’ve suffered some sort of brain injury - I’m failing to believe the amount of people talking like Norwood is useless and should be released.

He was impeccable for 3/4 of last season and below average for about 5 games. Doesn’t mean he’s washed up. He’s had crap games and will do so again but He was in plenty of teams of the season last year.

We have 1 (ONE) other senior midfielder under contract.

We have max 20 million to spend . If we replace Norwood for no real reason and have say 4/5 million to replace him. Who could we get that’s even 50% of the player he’s shown himself to be
There are some right dicks on here mate🙄

Coady isn’t the same type as Norwood he’s not a long passer and Norwood isn’t as mobile or good at tackling that said they’d be good together

I will be shocked and delighted if JOC is on the retained list having made a full recovery. I get what people are saying about match readiness, but we should be able to assess during pre-season. Who wouldn't love a defence of Baldock, Anel, Egan, and a resurgent JOC and RND?

I just struggle to imagine JOC's return actually happening. Fingers and toes crossed though!

If the JOC news is true it's baffling. At best, he'll need to go out on loan for months to get back to any level of fitness. How would that work on a pay to play?
Realistically no one is going to take him on loan and manage his recovery for us. So if true he'll just stick around with our squad and hope to play a few minutes.

If you had to bet money (or something), would you guess at a club announcement today, Thu, Fri or even pre-EFL on Saturday?!

Nothing will be announced until Saturday is my guess. Waited this long to announce for a reason so my guess is those or the reason sees it not happen till sat

Rumour is that the retained list was printed by Erreà and would have been published a few days ago. Unfortunately a light breeze blew all the ink off the page.

I genuinely think he believes he can return. I wouldn't want to be the one who says no to him either he looks a reyt unit these days. 😄
I truly hope so mate.
Who knows what else we might have achieved had he not suffered such a lengthy injury👍

List is out and my god it's a doozy - long and short of it is we're releasing Sharp, JOC and Stevens, talking to Osborne, Fleck and Robinson still, options exercised on everyone else

Must need Fleck for depth? Probably a low ball offer

Gotta bring back JOC as a staffer, any time he came up in interviews the players and coaches raved

Keeping Fleck and Osborn, we need far better than those two.

Not necessarily. If the offers made to them have not been accepted (after some 2-3 weeks), they're obviously seeing what they can get elsewhere. Let's hope they have been set firm deadlines for a definitive decision either way to avoid messing around extending negotiations and/or waiting for answers.

Let's hope HRH has a word and some Saudi club offers them both £100m/annum.

Sad to see Sharp leave along with Stevens and O'Connell but the time is right.

I personally wouldn't have been against having Sharp amongst the squad next season with an eye on him getting into coaching BUT he might not want that. Plus if he wanted to really feature more that wouldn't be a given at all next season. In fact would likely see few opportunities mainly bench.

Slightly surprised at offering Coulibaly an extension, and also offering Fleck a new deal. But sounds like that's very much in the balance for the one's having contracts offered.
Wouldn't surprise me if Fleck and Osborn don't take up the deal. Reckon Robinson will unless he feels he's just gonna be squad/bench and wants more first team football.

Really don’t understand the Fleck contract offer. Hopefully it’s a very low amount, as with exception of a handful of games he’s been poor for 3 years.

Not sure I would have bothered with Osborn either, but his versatility could be an argument.
