I've closed and locked a few threads, as they've run their distance and people have had chance to have their fun
I don't want it to continue on... so it'll be consigned to the archives.
For those who've missed it or are confused here's a summary:
Steve Faulkner's daughter google's her fathers name (as it appears, she's been doing for at least a couple of years - http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A69331269).
Google, kindly provides results linking to posts on here which contain:
This had a small response from other posters, who upon seeing a reaction, also explain that they didn't rate him as a player - most of them low key, the odd obvious attempt at trolling.
One contributing factor, is the new poster expressing themselves in text speak and perhaps struggling to articulate themselves in a way which doesn't rub people up the wrong way.
This died down for over a month, until said person arrived back for another go at defending her father's honour.
In response to her re-emergence, someone tried to explain that Steve was being rated in comparison to others at the time and not against the average bloke and that being little more than a reserve defender, people did consider him as one of the poorest players we had at this time.
Our new friend continued in a mixture of text speak and red mist choosing to not particularly take on board peoples more sensible approach to the situation and further stoking any gentle trolling.
To cut a much longer story slightly shorter, during this time, I had an exchange of private messages after an original angry one... In reply I was nothing but polite, courteous and sympathetic to her overriding cause. I said I'd take a look and make sure things didn't get out of hand, but to please report anything that she considered out of order. I explained that I was too young to have seen Steve play, but to please pass on my regards and best wishes.
No reports were forthcoming and I've not yet had time myself to filter through all of the content. What was forthcoming though were a number of more impatient messages regarding the closure of threads, including one advising me to please not ignore her (as I hadn't replied, you know, having a job to do rather than sitting online during the day). Also prevalent in the messages was an anti-United feeling and the tarring of all Blades fans. I again, politely and courteously took the time to explain the situation, offer advice on Facebook privacy settings and explain how we dealt with "personal abuse". I explained how I thought it wasn't the greatest approach to stoke people into further responses, offered a genuine apology if any content had caused offense and upset and explained that closing the threads and letting them die was the best solution in terms of putting a stop to it.
I asked (as she'd asked how to remove herself) if she would like me to remove her account and personal details and that regardless of her decision I did genuinely wish to pass my regards and best wishes on to an ex-blade.
In response, I got another rant, telling me her father wouldn't accept my best wishes and that she was a "wednesdayite thru and thru its a family thing!!!!".
Here endeth the story... Please don't make any more threads and don't turn this into another

Google, kindly provides results linking to posts on here which contain:
- a joke about 70's hair cuts and Steve Faulkner's hair style (the poster having a laugh and also laughing at himself).
- another poster suggesting that in his opinion, Mr Faulkner wasn't very good, in fact, he's in his list of worst Blades players.
This had a small response from other posters, who upon seeing a reaction, also explain that they didn't rate him as a player - most of them low key, the odd obvious attempt at trolling.

To remind people:
- Personal abuse will not be tolerated and should be reported to us, instead of taking it into your own hands/going tit for tat.
- Text speak is frowned upon, if you want people to read your opinions, please put the effort into making them. We understand not everyone possesses fantastic English skills and that's fine - but please make the effort to not just txt spk.
- If you wish to stick up for your father on the internet, it helps your own cause if you don't arrive like a bull in a china shop and continue to be aggressive. It also helps if you don't already have an agenda and a long term chip on your shoulder about an entire football club and it's supporters. What tends to happen in that case, is two throw away comments turn into multiple threads full of much worse.
