Brereton Diaz is a weird player. Looks an absolute shambles half the time but comes up with the goods

Yeah he’s unorthodox but can be great on his day. A bit like McBurnie in a way.

Would’ve been on my list of potential signings if he’d not already agreed a move to Villarreal - summat that would’ve never happened if he’d not decided he was Chilean.

Just thank God and Hecky that we're not in the playoffs

Going to be nice to watch them unfold knowing we’ve already done the business.

Yeah he’s an odd one. Not seen much of him but would be interested to see him in the Premier League.

He’s probably made a smart move going to Spain as I don’t see him doing it week in week out in the Premier Leagur

Coventry, Sunderland, Millwall and Blackburn all deserve to be in the play offs really

Harsh on these 2 to miss out, because they've been in there all season. But those replacing them have also been excellent. Coventry have been consistently awkward opponents for everyone and Sunderland have gone for it and had some great results

All north east final is on. Luton will be disappointed its Sunderland

Coventry have that bit of something about them that makes me think they can do it though. Boro might just pay the price for easing off a bit after automatic was out of reach

From our point of view Coventry or Luton would be best but tbh I don't want either of them in the PL

Really interested by these match-ups
3rd place Luton didn't beat 6th place Sunderland in either game this season (both 1-1)
4th place Boro didn't beat 5th Coventry in either game either (0-1 and 1-1)
Over last 20 years, distribution of playoff promoted team by league position has been 3rd place 40%, 4th place 20%, 5th place 25%, 6th place 15%
Just glad we aren't there this year!

Love the play offs particularly when we aren’t in them.Sunderland my choice.

Will end up regretting this comment but I don't see Boro winning the play offs at all. They've rather fell over the line in patchy form, granted there may be some mitigation for some of the results but still. But my main reason for thinking they won't is that every time they seemed to be in position to leapfrog us, they seemed to drop points. Chasers rather than leaders.

The horrible one is United 0% (no matter where we finish)

However does not matter this year

Yeah Sunderland would be interesting - has been a tough few years for their fanbase - imagine if we were stuck in league 1 while pigs got acquired by oil money multi billionaire owners and got into the Champions League etc.! 😐 Looking forward to the games as a neutral anyway!

Sunderland and boro are likely to have more clout if they go up money/transfer wise. So ideally neither of them.

Always hard to predict who will be down at the bottom before PL season starts. (Aside from newly promoted teams)

I'm expecting Burnley to do ok with more money coming into them.
The play off winner will likely battle out for relegation and we will because sounds like we won't have much to spend either.

But who out of the teams that stay in PL will make up that bottom part of table?
In typical PL fashion watch Brighton struggle next season after a good one this time. (Not basing it on anything(

Feels slightly wrong that Sunderland win 10 fewer games than us but can still start next season on parity.

That would be back to back promotions being the 5th and 6th based team which is nonsense really. Have they really been a back to back promotion team? Can't say they are.

Also makes a farce of the Manager of the Year vote being so early. Finished 16 ahead of Boro. Carrick is now further behind than Wilder was.

For me I hope it's Luton Town or Coventry City.

Potential back to back promotions for Sunderland finishing 5th & 6th, while the teams that finished 3rd in the championship and league one last season have battled relegation all of this season with MKDons dropping to league 2 and Huddersfield just staying up in the penultimate game.

Given their injuries and the fact they've only just got back up to the Championship, it's impressive that Sunderland got to the playoffs. I'd not be surprised if they win. Have to applaud what Mowbray has done there.

Cov will win the play offs for me...
Impressive from Coventry especially after their early season issues.
Don’t really care who goes up.
Great season if your a Blade, sit back and reminisce and look forward to the big league

I think Luton deserve a season in the Prem they have been consistently decent if unspectacular for a number of years despite not having a fortune and a stadium only fit for league two. If they are promoted God knows how they will bring their ground up to standard, their new stadium will be a year or two too late.

If Sunderland go up they will be our Aston Villa nicking every half decent player we try to sign.

We need Luton or Cov to go up as either of those will be in the bottom three next year and so we will only have to better another two teams for survival. Boro and Sunderland could very easily survive with some investment.

Coventry or Luton please.
The only thing I care about is having 3 teams we can finish above next season.
Sunderland and to an extent Boro would find a lot of money to strengthen far more than the otherv 2. They also have much bigger fan bases.

Aye , I bet Alex Neil will be watching with interest . Mowbray has done a great job there considering they lost Stewart for a big part of the season .

Mowbray has done a great job and as part of that you have to laugh at Alex Neil who jumped ship to Stoke...and finished 16th, 10 places and 16 points behind Sunderland.

That said, as a few have pointed out our sole aim is to be 4th worst next season. That task would be made more difficult by having Sunderland or Boro in the top flight over Coventry or Luton so I'd have to pick one of the latter two given the choice.

Sunlun will beat Luton, Cov will beat Super Michael Carricks Already Promoted Mighty Super Boro. Then Sunlun will shithouse the final and win.
