I see one of the players we were rumoured to interested in & personally think he would have been a shoe in for us has gone to Watford on a season long loan . I was working at a house last week & chatting with a really interesting bloke who is currently scouting for Tottenham & worked for Swansea for 10 years as compiling their tactical assessment of teams they were due to play , he’s been involved in football a long time & when we got talking about us he said Keenan Davis perfect fit & available. He did laugh also at what we’d paid for McBurnie but said if you want goslsbout of him you need wingers delivering from the bye line not wing backs crosses from the 18 yard box . Top bloke who had plenty of time to talk football with you 👍👍. Anyway just thought I’d share it even if it’s a a Jim Bowen here’s what you could have won moment ⚔️⚔️

Would we take another look at this lad this season? Could see us trying to buy him

I’d rather we didn’t.

We need a mobile striker who can be prolific. Davies will probably never score 10-20 goals in a single season in whole career.

He scored 5 last season and 6 this season at a level below where we’ll be playing (touch wood)

Feels like a player that dominated us and one we therefore perhaps overrate compared to what he’s actually achieved.

Think he’s one that could cause some issues at the higher level where defenders are perhaps more used to finess. But honestly you reckon you could get similar chaos (80-90%) from mcburnie if he’s on form but with more goals.

Feel like this lad may have peaked during a few months of his Forest loan spell. Consistent injury worries in his career as well. I don't imagine we'll be looking at him for the Prem.

If you told me he'd stay fit I'd be all for it

Our best current option for this sort of thing though is probably to just get McBurnie on a new contract

Oh yes let’s sign a 25 year old bloke who has scored 16 goals in 138 games. Fantastic idea 🤦‍♂️

My top two targets would be Gyokres and Alcaraz (if Saints get relegated).

Davis wouldn't get near the list sadly. Think there's probably a player in there but we should be aiming higher.

Keinan Davis' league appearances:

16/17 - 0 (6)
17/18 - 17 (11)
18/19 - 0 (5)
19/20 - 4 (14)
20/21 - 1 (14)
21/22 - 14 (2)
22/23 - 25 (7)

You may think he's shit and too old to be prolific at the next level, that's fine, but doing so with the rationale of just looking at "16 goals in 138 games" when in half of them he's only getting 10-20 minutes is downright silly.

If Boro don't go up we need to try and push the boat out for archer and akpom but the only issue would be wage packages

Davis doesn't score many and misses too many games through injury. If he was fit most matches then I'd possibly have a different view.

The above not directly at your post though Wards but previous. I rate Gykores but can't see us getting him as much bigger clubs than us have been linked with him such as Everton, although they may be relegated! I watched the highlights from Coventry's last match and granted it's only a few minutes long but Gykores looked very average! His attempt at a one on one was woeful.

Personally I'd rather Carlton Morris from Luton. He may be older so less sell on value but he'd be much more affordable and I think he's just as good if not better. He can shoot with both feet, decent in the air, has some pace and trickery also. He's also strong and doesn't get pushed about/dominated by defenders as McBurnie can. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we go after Morris to be honest if we're shopping in the Championship but I fully expect a few from abroad to come in that will hopefully be as good as Anel!

Yeah great point you’ve made. I thought he would’ve played a lot more minutes than that. Think our aspirations need to be a bit higher than him though if we want to stay up next season though. Can’t see him having some freak season like Akpom has had this year at Middlesbrough but you just never know.

Final year of his deal, possibly available at a cut-price after a disappointing season with Watford.
Would provide depth up front and a physical option.

Not a natural goalscorer but I think he'd be a good alternative to McBurnie, who can leave for free next Summer and still lacks the physicality to make a good impact in the PL.

Already injured? Not in good shape? Will fit in perfectly!

How much do they want, could use him for spares and repairs for our squad…..

Think he's been injured again (shock) for most of the season. Wilder did have him at Watford though...

Always thought Davis would be a great value signing. But no more injured strikers, please......
