Team For Sunderland

Team will depend on it Hecky thinks he can drag us over the line without risking going all out to win the game. I’m guessing he’ll go with same line-up Wednesday and and loads of changes vs Blackburn.

Interesting to see Blackburn's team selection Satdi. Do they want it or rest players to try and keep in play-offs / chasing second spot.

Blackburn have to go for it really. They're not going to finish second and they'll not be favourites for the play-offs. Pointless passing up a great chance for a Wembley semi final.

Four at the back tends to not work, but nothing else seems to at the moment. I think however the team will likely be:

Foderingham
Bogle / Anel / Egan / JLT / Lowe
Berge / Norwood / Fleck
Ndiaye / McB

For what it’s worth I’d go:

Foderingham
Baldock / Anel / Egan / JLT / Lowe
McAtee / Norwood / Doyle
Ndiaye / McB

Bench - Berge / Stevens / Jebbo / Coulibaly / Fleck

Flexible options there but having Norwood defending the back line and Doyle supporting the front might be a shout. Regulars on the bench to change it.

I’d like to see Berge come on as an impact sub more, gives him a bit of a rest and also the opposition something to think about (same as Spurs game).
Agree with your selection. This isn't a game for Bogle. we've got enough to contend with defensively with Lowe. If things are going south then chuck Bogle on . Jebbo if fit absolutely must be on the bench. If the brains trust start Berge-Norwood and Fleck he needs chucking in a secure unit for severe mental health issues.

Wes
Baldock Anel Egan Robbo Lowe
McAtee Norwood Doyle
McBurnie Ndiaye

Which turns into the below when we attack:

Wes
Baldock Anel Egan Robbo Lowe
Norwood Doyle
McAtee Ndiaye
McBurnie

Should be dynamic enough to have Norwood and Doyle sitting when we have the ball and allow MacAtee to join in.

Use Berge as an impact sub from wide areas - Still believe this is what he's best at in this division against tiring defences. So that slot that MacAtee occupies in the second line up.

Bench:

Davies
Bogle
Jebbo
Sharp
Basham
Fleck
Berge

Trouble is - Hecky asked to keep Sander so looks bad if he doesn’t now play him . Also , the clubs biggest asset dropped to bench ? Can’t see it on Heckys watch

All I ask is at the bare minimum Fleck is dropped.
However if I had complete control it would be:
Wes
Anel Egan Robbo
Baldock Osborn
Doyle
Berge McAtee
Mcburnie Ndiaye

Coulibaly in the midfield would also be a shout over Berge however I do think Berge is still the stronger option despite his dip in form. I thought at Reading on Tuesday he was one of our best players and I overheard Reading fans after the game saying "without that big Norwegian in their side they're nothing" which is quite funny considering this is the SanderBergeHateClub.com recently. Perhaps we're being too harsh on him and he will refind that form.

Also Ciaran Clark over Egan I also wouldn't protest. Think when he's played he has been brilliant and recently he's just been sitting on the bench.

I think the idea of a 4 back would be brilliant however we don't have the facilities for that as our CBs minus Anel are too slow and we'd get run off the park. As well as the only full backs that are fast enough to perhaps help out would be Bogez and Lowe however they're more wingers than Full backs lol. If we do play a 4 back I would very much like to see this:
Wes
Baldock Anel Robbo RND
Berge Doyle Mcatee
Bogle Mcburnie Ndiaye

I really like the idea of Bogle RW in a 4 back, I think if he's got the defensive cover with 3 in midfield and Baldock at RB he will have the ability to express himself fully going forward and not have to worry about getting back anywhere near as much. As well as the ability to switch to 442 when defending with Bogle dropping into Right Midfield. If we can get a solid and fast midfield solidified for the next couple of years by buying Doyle and Macca and a fast back line (mostly LCB) then switching to a 4 back would be more than ideal, with the likes of Brewdog and Jebbo also being able to challenge for a more distinguished, fast and electric front 3.

Do we know if Robbo is any good as a CB in a back 4? Genuine question. I know he used to play left back and has played in the role but no idea whether he was considered any good.

The way this season is ending, it's either drop his 'fav players' or lose his job in the summer.

A HUGE change is needed for W*****day night. It's either the playing staff, their performance or the tactics. Lose on W*****day night and we'll be 2 points behind Boro on Saturday at 5pm. The week after sees Boro at Huddersfield and us at Norwich - all of a sudden we could be 5 points behind Boro and only 1 game in hand.

We must win on W*****day night.

Agree

But who’s going to sack him ?

Not sure really. Put him there because I think he's solid enough to keep his place and he's fast enough imo to play in a back 4. However yes I do think for the log run to play a back 4 we will need a proper LCB experienced in a back 4 and RND fully fit as I think he's the only capable LB that isn't a wannabe winger. Perhaps Clark as the LCB? However think he's too slow for a back 4.

Can't be any worse than Saturday, however I think hell will freeze over before Hecky tries 4 at the back from the start of a game.

We're playing big scary Sunderland so we'll play a lot more negative formation than you've suggested.
Was quite impressed by Sunderland yesterdeh.
They really took the game to Norwich.
They looked athletic, pacy and energetic.
Norwich looked very much like us against Luton. Lethargic and ponderous. Took them forever to build an attack and they eventually ran out of ideas.
Roberts, Ba, Gelhart and Clarke were a real handful up front for Sunnerlan’.
I’m a bit worried, if they click again we could get badly tonked on Wednesday.

If they've got pace and a bit of enthusiasm we may as well not bother.

We all know that the team won't change that much, but what would you go with for this match? Change of formation and players? Something has to change surely.

I'd go with:

Fodders

Baldock Anel Egan Robbo

Doyle

Berge Mcatee

Ndiaye

McBurnie Jebbo

Doyle in the Norwood role (which he was excellent in the Spurs game) Ndiaye linking midfield and attack and with him, Mcatee and Jebbo all 3 providing much needed pace and drive.

Thoughts?
Swap Berge for Bogle

My guess is that it will be more of the same and a similar outcome.

Heckingbottom seems too afraid to propely change it and Sunderland are a good side.

................Foderingham
Baldock Anel Egan Robinson Lowe
....Berge......Norwood....Doyle
..............Ndiaye.....McBurnie

A couple of personnel changes (Bogle, Fleck out) but it's the system that isn't working.

2-0 Sunderland.
