Just seen this posted on Facebook - attendances for the 1975-76 season. Interesting to see how "massive" some clubs were back then...

…And that average was only that ‘high’ after being bumped up by 700 or so on the last day by their ‘once, twice, three times a season‘ part-timers, inflating the gate to 25,802 for the last game versus Southend.

Their other ‘take Auntie Flo’ games that season were against Rotherham (18,691) and Mansfield at Christmas (15,430).

The typical gate was 8-11,000, with several in the 7,000’s and they went down to 6,905 against Colchester in March 1976.

Of course, if you believe the fantasists on Porktalk, notwithstanding that their ‘fans’ had pretty much deserted them at home matches, they were actually taking plenty to away matches at this time. They really do talk absolute drivel.

Got me there 'ancient', can't remember what I were drinking, but must be good stuff.
Now, to the drinks cupboard for an inventory check...................😏.
Thanks for the correction, genuine mistake.
An excellent photo by the way, shows what he had to offer.

Some good old ones in the star today

1905 Caption says match at Bramall Lane believe cup V Liverpool check other photos.jpgThis photo, entitled, 1905 at Bramall Lane is not correct as Peter Boyle, far left and Harry Thickett 4th form left had both left SUFC by 1905. 2nd left 'Nudgger', 3rd left Priest, the far right Blade I don't know.
I believe the photo is one of three, 1899, FACSF games, all played at a neutral venue V Liverpool, could be either, City Ground, Notts, Bolton or finally Derby, where Blades won.
Ironically, Blades won the cup that year beating Derby 1-4.
Thanks HH, two photos I had never seen before, Coronations GeorgeV & VI.

Yes, you are correct. It was the 1899 FA Cup semi against Liverpool. The Star got it wrong again!
