For United to get to 81 we only need to get 1.25 points per game to finish 2nd on gd
If we maintain our just under our 2 points per game we finish on 92/91points meaning one of the chasing pack has to get 34 points from 36 available or 2.8 points per game

Next weekend Blackburn away will be tough and Boro have Reading at home which is likely gonna be a home win.
We then play Reading away as out game in hand.

Essentially though if we get 7 wins from remaining fixtures, then Boro would need to get 28 points from an available 36. Not much room for mistake.

If we get to the end of March still 7 points clear, even if we have played the same number of games, that will be a very good position given the respective run ins.

(Notwithstanding the possibility that the WBA game will get moved if we win on Wednesday)

Before the game yesterday I said to raul that I had revised my points required estimate down to 82 from the 84 I had previously predicted.

Your logic bears that out very well.

Boro should need at least 2.3 points per game to finish above us, based on us reaching at least 85 points which requires 1.62 per game

They need at least 8 wins from 12

We probably need 7 wins from 13. Add 3 draws to that and that's 88 points. And if that isn't enough, then fair f**kin play to Boro - they'll have won at least 10 from 12

Because Blackburn and Burnley are the two best home sides (other than us) in the division, and Luton the second best away side?

We shouldn't lose all 5, but let's also not pretend these are easy fixtures.

Of course none of them have played us at home/away, and we are the second best home sides and 3rd best away side. So in the final reckoning they may end up lower than they currently are.
