"There were offers from Sheffield United and numerous other clubs, but I want to be at an ambitious club. That’s something I spoke about with the gaffer."It’s okay just playing at a club with no ambition, just picking up your wages. But I want to be at a club that wants to get promoted and where I feel wanted.

Thoughts?

pompey are ambitious ,they have ambitions to still be operating come the end of the season

Fair play to him... We paid him highly for the Championship (most of the time he was injured or suspended) and then he sticks by us for a season in L1 before moving to another L1 club in Administration.

I wonder if he ever stopped to think why they had no players.... They've been ambitious alright....and its costing them now

at least the departure of Willo, means we can keep Monty!

I've really fell out with football...and i'm just hanging on to the Blades.
McWobbleGobs not my favourite cup of tea.

Hahahahahahaha. Plonker.

By "wanted him" he means willing to overpay him.

Perhaps he means the fact that most of our fans weren't that bothered about him re-signing. I, along with most others, were quite happy for him to go if it meant keeping McDonald.

Fairly sure Pompey had 'ambition' before. That's why they are now up shit creek.

Well, their wage budget is higher than ours and if rumors are true about further cuts they will finish above us this season too.

Chanrai said he'd set their budget at £1.4m. Their Trust said £2.6m. Given they don't seem close to coming out of administration, where is this money coming from ?

I'm sure our budget will be bigger than £2.6m.

Hasn't Birch said they have till next Friday and they have to re-negotiate with creditors ?

I just don't know what is going on here .......

Do you think he really cares about the fans' opinions? More than money?

Not at all, but it makes a more compelling story on his new club's website than "I've no affinity to your club but you offered me a bit more money so here I am".

Isn't he really just saying what he's expected to?

Move on

If he really wanted to find his way into the Championship, he could have signed on with the Dingles.

They didn't offer him as many of those ambitious pound notes though.

Don't know what he's getting at Pompy but dunno how they made a better offer than anyone, maybe he's got 50% stake and half of the city

Half of the city would ports MOUTH and 50% stake of nowt is nowt ,is he thick or what ?

Fuckin prick.
Sorry for the shit reply, but, for me it fuckin beggars belief that he HONESTLY believes he's better off signing for Portsmouth rather than us. Dear oh dear.

I think it says more about him and the way in which Portsmouth are STILL being run, that anything about us....

He sounds like a man who's ego has just taken a big hit, must have hurt to realise even the dingles didn't feel he was worth the amount of £££'s he thought he should be paid. Yup must have hurt to find only a club absolutely desperate for any kind of player was the only one interested in him.
Better of without him, one hard tackle see's him going missing like in the play off final anyway .............. half a good season out of a 3yr contract tells the story of his worth.
