When a club sell a player they don't suddenly put into process signing another player.

United will have sourced a potential replacement weeks and maybe even months ago.
They will have done the negotiations already, so a deal is already 90% done, the paperwork might already be drawn up.

Then if and when Berge is sold, it gives us the green light and we just need to complete the remaining 10% of the deal.

Yeah - definitely up there with Ndiaye as the most valuable assets in the championship. If we go up, and we don't have Berge, we'll probably need to spend 25m+ on a player who can be a difference maker at that level (like Forest with MGW), unless we are going to accept the payday/relegation.
