Outgoing? SANDER BERGE ON WAY OUT ?

Big fan of sander would love him to stay, the fact he’s on his way tells you how much the sale of the club is miles away.

Can you explain your logic.

You would expect the new owner has ambitions to improve to squad.
If we sell Berge for a good price, who if you've been going to matches you'd see is far from indispensable and quite poor in some games.
However we need to make sure we bring in a better replacement , the squad could end up being improved this season with Sander going.

If Berge goes but we land O'Brian on loan then its good business.

Problem is though that we’re running out of time to get these deals over the line. I can see Berge going, but having the added problem of receiving the transfer fee and then transferring monies owed to the EFL to clear the embargo, then to negotiate any incomings is going to be near impossible between tomorrow morning and 11pm on Tuesday night.

Is it? For the sake of argument I'll concede the financial fucking shitshow we seem to be in probably dictate it is, because at least we won't go bust for a few months yet, but get promoted and what? Is Ismaila Couilbaly our only contracted midfield for a tilt at premier league survival with a squad built on players that will no longer belong to us or never did in the first place?

At least Berge was our player, our asset.

Next season will be embarrassing like we've never known

United had better pay the EFL the money that they paid the unamed club because of the scheduled payment default..........or we wont be signing anyone even if Berge is sold.

I may be negative Frank but that’s because I’ve been watching them for over 50 years

Of course I have no idea what’s going on as do 99% of posters on here.

I do not formulate them as my own. I read and I give an opinion. You may not agree with them and that’s fair enough but tough shit if you don’t

Do me a favour Frank. Stop fking reading my posts and if you do, don’t fking bother replying. Better still put me on ignore please

I’m already sick to the back fking teeth of your condescending replies

Ok buddy

Or you could do what most do and put him on ignore. Works for me.
Thought Frank just didn't like me😭😅

Anything in this? Fulham close to signing Sander. Fulham release Onomah to allow him to immediately hook up with the squad?

Maybe not as well.

Do you genuinely think we aren't putting the wheels in motion and will wait for the money to drop in to begin negotiating?? There's a reason the O'Brien rumour has began doing the rounds. It can easily be just like completing a chain on a house

I’d say he’s in our top 5 players this season, if we’re looking at like for like comparisons (ie same number of games, time etc).

In no particular order I’d say -

Ndiaye
McBurnie
Berge
Anel
Norwood
Norrington-Davies in there above most of them.

I can see a situation whereby:

Sander leaves today, embargo lifted and a glimmer of false hope, heading into transfer deadline day. But, we spend the day hoping and noone comes in. That's my expectation.

As he goes out the outdoor the incomings should be stood with a pen ready to sign their deals. Anybody that falls for "it was too late" is naive in the extreme. It's like a housing chain.

It might be a 'shit show' at the moment, but from what certain posters have said, we've been short of money since August/September - with the Prince delaying payments and moving cash around.
That has enabled us to keep Berge until January and get 13 points clear of 3rd place and on the brink of promotion.
We could have sold him at the start of the season, so at least we've been able to stretch the finances and keep him a little bit longer and get into 2nd.

I think he was our best player when we were playing our best football in August.
Dropped off alarmingly since then (obviously inc. unavailable period).

I'd have him behind Ndiaye, McBurnie, Norwood & Egan. Possibly Ahmedhodzic too.
There's also a case for Bogle, who's been a real threat. On balance over the season he's slightly ahead of the Man City lads, but people are judging him on the last 4 or 5 when he's been average at best.

This...

Teams will basically man mark Norwood and the wingbacks and all creativity will be gone.

We'll potentially be in situation whereby the creativity reduces, the squad looks weaker, there'll be a downturn in form and the takeover will be wobbling. Brill.

Picking up Onomah on a permanent for free would be an absolute gift and a no brainer

We currently stand to have barely any permanently contracted midfielders going into a PL season so ensuring we have one in advance who has the bare minimum attributes of athleticism and technical ability would be very sensible

OBrien could also be made permanent so if we could get these two in now we wouldn't be building from scratch in a crucial area of the pitch

Bogle behind Egan, Ahmedhordzic? Where you playing him in net?

Are you and Onomah related? Or do you have a bet on that involves him?

You're venturing into Ricky territory with Michael Manset! 😉

It effects us structurally a lot. Berge is the link between defence and midfield when teams press us high. This is exacerbated when JLT plays as he lacks quality to play out. Stand on Anel and Norwood and it's a struggle. Berge gets the ball and plays or carries the ball through the press. Often teams don't bother just because he's on the pitch and the risk vs reward makes it a dumb strategy. Hopefully teams pay us too much respect at BL and just let Norwood have it.

Agreed. Onomah is crap - there is a reason he has never been a regular for anybody. The only manager who really rates him is Bruce......that should tell us all we need to know.

Had to google him. What a big ugly beast

I think folk have an unfairly negative view of onomah because his name sounds like enema.....😂 ...oh and he played for the pigs

Wilson - We don't play with wingers

Onomah - never been that impressed.

Cairney - Not the most mobile, ageing with a series of bad injuries.

All likely to be on really good money too.

I assume that everyone who is moaning about potentially* going into a Premier League season without enough contracted midfielders would be happy to start that season with what we've got in midfield, then?

*note: potentially. We're not promoted yet
