FA CUP - Wrexham away

You're entitled to your option Dkc. However, there are approx 1200 supporters travelling over to Wrexham on a Sunday, and a few more at home watching on the TV who are not wanting us to play the weakest team and lose to a non-league club. That's what.
I didn't say I wanted us to lose. We should beat them with our second eleven. Just saying that, given the circumstances we shouldn't be taking any risks with the players who have got us 13 points clear of 3

Lineker and shearer just want to be associated with Hollywood, the BBC want to jump on the Wrexham bandwagon, and it works in our favour. I hope we pump them 10-0 Infront of all the cameras, and then they can go on and win the league.
Yeah, but all the yanks and worldwide audience, will be casting us as the Washington Generals and Wrexham as the Harlem Globetrotters.
I hope we pummel them into the ground, but as we all know…this is Sheffield United

Just seen the SUFC Police tweet posted yesterday. Absolute twaddle. Away fans will be welcome anywhere. I’ve listed a few decent bars previously. There s literally something for everyone, nothing a google search won’t harm. Enjoy the day, not the result.

What about The Turf?

The Turf is always chock a block, although these days there's additional drinking space outside with a small marquee.
There is the Maesgwyn Hall opposite the ground which also gets very busy with people drinking outside
Those parking on the free 3 hours Argos/The Range retail park might be happy enough to have a beer outside the Plas Coch pub opposite . There's plenty of pub tables outside.
Lots of bars and pubs in the city centre. 0.7 m from the ground, and 0.5 m from Wrexham General to Wetherspoons, although anyone dressed up in Stone Island is likely to get knocked back

Do people still dress up in Stone Island gear…really? Are Burberry caps still a thing in Wrexham?

Am I the only one on here who doesn't have a feckin clue who Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are (other than I believe they are actors)? One was in Deadpool apparently, never seen it probably never will. I've seen Dead Pool which had Clint Eastwood in it and was one of the Dirty Harry series of films. Maybe Dirty Harry blows one of these geezers away in his film. Can't remember it though.

Ryan Reynolds is pretty much classed as an A list celeb nowadays.

Rob McElhenney is more well known in US. But has been in some high profile TV shows such as Lost, Game of Thrones and most well known for Its always sunny in Philadelphia.

Hypothetically if we got owners like them I'd be fairly happy.
I don't think they would have the money to fund us, but they seem well intentioned and have made good progress with Wrexham.

Ps. Think my fav clint Eastwood film is still the good the bad and the ugly.

Nailed it 🤣

Neither have them have been in Corrie, Emmerdale or EastEnders so they're pretty much not serious actors 🤣

Never seen the Phily show though it's been running a long time so must be decent enough.

I like how you mentioned Game of Thrones where he played the pivotal role of Ironborn Soldier! I saw his first role was in the Devil's own, the Ford/Pitt film only to discover he starred in 'deleted scene'. He's obviously kicked in from there so GLTTL, not easy getting work in such a competitive industry.

But chiding aside, I think he comes over very well meaning in the documentary and does Ryan Reynolds, especially the way they have embraced the local community and minority groups. In fact the latter I do enjoy watching as he's often quite humourous and doesn't take himself too seriously. The continuous fake feud between him and Hugh Jackman is quite well staged.

Back to the football I'll be interested to see what happens when we get a throw in on the left. I saw Ben Tozer commenting about his long throw. Then Robbo will come up and throw one of his corner like exorcets into their box and he'll be "what? Only I'm allowed to do that!"

Best thing to do is keep possession well, let them run themselves tired, keep them out early on then kill them off as the adrenaline wears off. Don't give too many silly free kicks away either. I like Hecky in these type of games. He is respectful, by no means someone who gets ahead of himself and likely to prepare us just the same as if we were playing Burnley. We will rotate but we've been doing that a fair bit anyway with wing backs rested, strikers rotated and Doyle and McAtee exchanged regularly. It's not a midweek game so no additional concerns other short turnaround of games, just the consideration of accumulated workload and those needing games.

We're the least likely Goliath of them all so if they think some too-good-for-you fancy pants team is what they are expecting then I think they'll be disappointed.

Really looking forward to it. A draw would be good for the documentary and a replay would get us more minutes but I'd happily finish it today and rest up while Burnley, Blackburn and Wednesday face an inconvenient fixture making the first full week of February suddenly busy. Wednesday for instance, need a cupntie between Plymouth and Ipswich like a hole in the head. Whilst Ipswich also play, a loss to Burnley is no great shakes whereas a loss for them is still embarrassing even though they are same division.

As I posted elsewhere, having watched highlights of their last two league games:
1. Howard is susceptible to shots from distance.
2. Their midfield is non existent.
3. They have a long throw.
4. Their two main strikers, Mullen and Palmer are a threat, but shouldn't be an issue to our defence. I expect a battle between Egan and Palmer and Robinson should keep fellow Scouser Mullen quiet.
5. Their defence will shit themselves when Ndiaye or Bogle run at them!
6. Apparently they have a couple of their first team players out injured; I think Mendy (forward) is one and a defender the other.

Deadpool is a much better film than The Dead Pool (although not nearly as good as Dirty Harry or Magnum Force).

Deadpool 2, however, is an unmitigated crock of shit so for that reason I hope we leave Reynolds crying into his stupid designer Gin.

Rob McElhenney is great though, the two TV series he created are terrific.

Posted on Shoutbox but bears repeating:-

Looking forward to today’s game - media darlings Wrexham, everyone wants them to win, international interest. Grubby, hard-nosed Sheffield club roll into town. Fucking stuck into them from the off, fear no one and fuck the script. UTB

Ah that would explain it. It just so happens our paths haven't crossed. By that I mean I haven't seen anything that either of them have been in as I've not seen Deadpool or Game of Thrones or Lost etc (I don't see a lot of TV and when I do watch it, it tends to be football/sport or documentaries). They could be sat next to me and I wouldn't have a clue who they are, though I suspect them having a camera shoved under their faces might be a giveaway. They seem to be decent lads from what I've read on here but I hope we give their team a right kicking (metaphorically speaking) this afternoon.

To be fair McElhenney only has a five second cameo in Game of Thrones, it only came about because the people who ran it loved his own TV series.

I always find Joe Elliot and Def Leppard a weird one. Over here they could walk down Oxford St and no one would bat an eyelid, but in the states they're megastars. So it's no wonder they've roped him in to this fixture.

Nope, me too, haven’t got a clue (or interest) in who they are.
