Apparently looked very good against Morecombe - willing to take players on with pace and trickery and he's always had a diamond left peg.

Despite the usual lot on here predicting doom and bemoaning the fact we're chucking in the youngsters (think someone complained we're the next Crewe Alexandra), I think the season is looking really bright. Loads more pace in the side to compliment our quality football. McDonald will have a field day threading balls through to some of these players.

UTB, not long to go!!!! :o)

from the reports ive read and heard, this lad sounds as if he could be the next rough diamond to break through into the starting 11.
i do feel a little more optimism after the last few days, maybe the new season will be more exciting than first thought,i just hope we can add a good goal scorer to the ranks before the season properly begins.

I haven't seen any of the pre-season games but he's stood out for me in the Academy games I've seen: busy, good attitude, can pass and an eye for goal. Promising.

He's just been his usual self in pre-season UnitedBlade , would be good to see him given a chance in the first team.

Do you think he's got it Foxy, or is it just a hope?

UTB

He's been consistent, he's strong, he's certainly worth a look at and has the style to be a game changer... Quick, direct running, plenty of effort and can beat a man.

I'd definitely have him on the bench - good to bring on for those games when Quinny flags and if Quinny goes that left hand side is not good enough and it would be Callum's big chance

He won't get a better opportunity than this season if we don't add any more players, and offers something a bit different by the sounds of it - much-needed pace. With the additional subs this year again, I'm sure he'll get some early cameos - if he impresses, I can see him featuring quite a bit this year. Certainly has done his chances the world of good with his preseason form.

T'was I
From the perspective that we are a lower division team prodcing good youngsters, who can play the game properly, but only stay with us a short time before they are picked off by the wealthier teams in the higher leagues.

A policy that has seen Crewe produce a fair amount of talent over the years but has meant them remaining in the lower leagues because they cannot afford to turn down the offers from the big boys. My point was that we could become such a feeder team for those above us and remain in the third tier for a while to come.

looked good from what i saw at Rotherham stick him on left and quinn on the right.

hmmmm how much do you think we can sell him for ?

Just why do you bother? Some people would like to discuss a good young player coming through.

I think he looked good for the 15-20 minute spell against Rotherham. I hope he gets a full game against Burton

I thought he might have got a breakthrough last season, I was disappointed that he didn't. I really hope he gets a chance to make an impact for us this season because he's got ability. I wasn't sure if he'd be strong enough against first team professionals after seeing him for the under 18s, but he looked fine against Rotherham and seems to have been working on his upper body strength after his foot injury in the summer.

Good player coming through it is best to not get too attached to them.

Sad to say really but that's football.

Still hope he does well for us this coming season though.

He was my 'stand-out' player at Morecambe. MacD and McMahon both had a good un too, but McFadzean really looked like he could - with experience - be a belter...

Roll on Saturday :p

Started showing good signs, end of last season. Crackers, but I like Him. ;)

I am as attached to Walker, Jags and Naughton as much as when they were here. I was desperate to watch Kyle in the euros.

Not me. Still got a lot of time for Walker in particular - great player who continues to show his support for the Blades. But my attachment to any player isn't the same after they leave. And to be honest, my attachment to Jags wasn't the same after his shocking & inexplicable handball helped send us down.

Absolutely. Well said. No apology; No explanation. It tarnished him badly in my eyes. Just another ex-player for me, I'm afraid. The only difference is, unlike those hardy perennial bench-sitters Stead, Cotterill and Forte, I would welcome him back!
