Watched the under 18s today 2nd time this season. Theres this Kid wears number 10, Im told He is 16, He looks amazing, anybody know His name, is a bit special.

It's Diego DeGirolamo. Very handy player but often a little selfish at times.

Cheers Ziatan, looked more than Handy mate, spread it about today, 2 great Goals. Put a smile on my Face.

"There's only one Diego DeGirolamo
Only one Diego DeGirolamo..."

Hmm ... some work to be done here.

Let's just call him Geronimo

Some one is going to temp Him away, best thing Ive seen down there at that age.

What are the rules regarding contracts for youth players?
Hopefully he wont end up poached!

He must watch Videos of Messi 6 hours a Day :D, anyway Im a Fan. Interestingly They have changed the way they Play its nice to watch, using the wings more.

Ok, I've been waiting for this guy to make it into the public view. I'd heard from his Grandparents (who are pig fans) that he was pretty special but didn't put much on it because... well, they're his Grandparents! Anyway, he's been spoken to by Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd - all the big boys but his parents aren't interested in him going to any of those places - they have their feet firmly on the floor and know that if he's good enough he'll end up there eventually anyway rather than upsetting his family life with all that travelling.
He's been with us since he was 6 or 7 so it'll be interesting to see how loyal he is when it comes down to it!

McCabe will be rubbing his hands at this. Another couple of million quid to throw into the deep dark pit at his invinsible Belgian chocolate factory. Just a couple of years for him to show some promise and then pack his bags and ship him out.

By the time he gets sold the EPPP rules (acronym?) will be in place so he can go for £100-250k won't it?

If we sold him thats probably what we would want for him no matter what the rules.

but if McCabe can convince a Premiership club to shell out early and take a chance he could be another Mellis, sold before ever playing a game for us.

EPPP is only for players that are within the academy and not on pro contracts. We might be alright with him, given his age, but there will be a tendency for similar gems to be cherry picked from the academy earlier in future and with the limited compensation.

I suspect we will still get a low fee for him though!

He'll be picking his Giro up when he flops.........................

Ey this isn't the best example of where SUFC sold talent on the cheap. Where exactly is Mellis these days? Barnsley.

He had the talent but also he seemed to have a bad attitude just another in the long line who go to top clubs and think they have it made and don't have to work any longer. Maybe he would have turned out different if he hadn't gone chasing the big money ? Something to be said for learning your trade away from the Premiership rather than bench warming and idling your days away playing with smoke bombs etc.

Agree but on this occasion SUFC did the right thing for the very reasons you state above. I'll be honest it doesn't happen often but we should give them credit when they get it right. Didn't we get in excess of £1m for him?
