Anyone see the game last night, anyone stand out?

Whitehouse was excellent, Cofie has speed and skill, Westlake looked half decent, Maguire and Collins were solid, Williams has an upside head and Creswell looked erm old.

That Jack Dean lad should be playing for Ilkeston such was his lack of stature, technique or composure.

Luke Rogers wasn't that bad.

Philiskirk's still shit though.

How does this work then ?

"Although Westlake’s contract expired at the end of last season, Walsall are entitled to compensation because they offered him a fresh deal."

Since when do clubs get compensation when a player is out of contract ? Would we be entitled to compensation as and when Willo and KMac sign elsewhere ?
No because they are over 23.
Although I thought that Walsall had to offer the same as us or better to get compo otherwise you would just offer everyone £100 per week and wait for them to sign for someone else

He's under 24 and because of that Walsall are entitled to compensation for his development with them. Tribunals are used when the clubs can't agree on a value.

In theory, if McDonald signs elsewhere we could get compensation too but as he only spent a year with us it wouldn't be very much.

Not quite stanny - the offer has to be the same or better than their current terms at their current club.

Done deal according to James Shield, who seems to have suggested a tribunal won't be needed. Two-year deal with option for a third.

It's on the OS. Signed.

Foxy - get this thread shifted.

Have we made an offer for Robin Van Persie? Just checking...

Sorry, thought they were waiting till they got to Malta to announce this one, not doing it just before they set off :)

Inconsiderate really, almost like someone knew we were off to see batman

Right, clean slate.

Welcome to the club Mr Westlake, let's see what you can do kid.

Indeed. By all accounts it's his defensive work that needs to be worked on. I've read good things about his attacking qualities. A poor man's Lowton at the moment, and that may have implications when it comes to what player type Wilson will look for at right midfield (if Williamson doesn't return). He may be looking for someone who is creative and decent defensively, rather than an out and out winger.

Compensation package now agreed:

Walsall have confirmed they have agreed a compensation package with Sheffield United for defender Darryl Westlake.
Westlake, who signed a two-year deal with the option of a third year at Bramall Lane last week, came through the youth ranks at Walsall.
He was offered new terms at the end of last season but rejected the offer, leaving him free to speak to other clubs.
"Following the recent approach by Sheffield United, after negotiation, we have accepted what we feel is a good offer for Darryl that includes several performance-based contingent sums triggered by future achievements," Walsall chief executive Stefan Gamble told his club's official website.
"We would like to wish Darryl all the best in his future career."
