No - but IF, on an official form where it says “nationality” you cross out “British” and you write in “White English” they will send that form back.
There is no such nationality as White English. Why on earth would someone choose to put that on a form?

Pretty sure practicing Judaism was not the only metric used by the machine that was. Anti semites can now feel free to continue their bile safe in the knowledge they are only religious intolerants rather than racists.
I don’t know what you mean by “Pretty sure practicing Judaism was not the only metric used by the machine that was.” but being Jewish can be a religious belief and/or an ethnicity. I’m ethnically half Jewish but completely atheist.

Just guessing but probably because the same form will suggest you can be white Irish, Welsh or Scots? Strictly speaking England has been a defined nation longer than any of those (927 I think), although there might be arguments about Scotland, and indeed longer than India, Pakistan or Bangladesh which will be almost certainly on the same form.

In general terms though if someone identifies as English they should be allowed to as much as anyone else can identify as Scots Welsh etc.

Cornwall predates all of them.

I have no problem with anyone defining their nationality as English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish. Just making the point that sticking “white” in front of any of them is entirely pointless as it has no bearing at all on nationality.

Hi BB, totally agree. Please see the full thread for context. In short I highlighted Whoopi Goldbergs comment that the Holocaust was 'not about race' in answer to the assertion that calling Forest fans Scabs is racist, suggesting she would not be in agreement with the sentiment that being derogatory to local rivals is racism. The comment you have questioned was in answer to a ridiculous reply to me more or less saying Goldberg is right as the persecution of Jews was nothing more than religious persecution. Hope that clarifies it.

True but these forms usually add ethnicity so white British, black African, Asian Indian etc. so black English, Asian English would be equally relevant. Nationality and ethnicity aren’t the same I would agree but the questions do link the two whether we agree with it or not

These Hull fans said the didnt see anything....20220907_211013.jpg

Interesting. Would you call an American referring to someone from Nottingham as a 'scab' racist?
Are people from one particular geographical part of the country a race? What defines a race?
No I wouldn’t, To my mind a “race”is a group of people who share particular physical characteristics clearly people who happen to live in Nottingham are not a “race”. Therefore it is not racist. There is a lot of confusion caused by people regarding race and ethnicity as interchangeable terms and they are not. The terms Geordie or Taffy for example are not racist they are based on ethnicity. This has got even worse by the rise of the use of the term “hate crime”. Hate is an Emotion for gods sake it’s not specifically to do with race or indeed ethnicity. I speak with a Southern accent and I’ve been called a fucking southern bastard In Sheffield by Blades fans and not long ago I was chatting to a Blades fan and in response to my accent he said in all seriousness “tha’s not a proper Blade though art tha? Despite my Blades colours, my my obvious support for them and the fact I’ve been watching them for around for 50 odd years (which was longer than the guy had been alive for). Racism is odious but it’s only one part of what you could call identity politics, being offensive to a group might not be nice but it’s not necessarily racist, he’ll if it was I’d be in trouble for calling some misguided Sheffield folk fucking pigs.

I’m going to clarify because I don’t want anyone accidentally thinking I mean owt by my comment…

I was just continuing a joke started by other poster following the script of a Stewart Lee stand-up bit. It’s a good one - worth a watch on the old You Tube. But apologies for childishly derailing the thread a little.

Obviously you’re an idiot if you do what I said in my post.

This thread got me thinking about a couple of things at work. There's two Ronnies (no not those two). One is referred to as black Ronnie and the other white Ronnie. I don't know why they aren't distinguished by their surnames. They started there way before I did.
There's also Alan. His surname is "Welsh". But he's Scottish.

Is he back now? Hardly kicked a ball for Boreham Wood aswell. Seems a strange one after being a hot prospect being linked with Liverpool etc. Not really getting much impression from him.

He was MOTM (sorry, POTM) on his Boreham debut and but has mostly been the bench since. He was back playing for our u23's yesterday while Boreham were playing Notts County. I've not seen anything that says he's been officially recalled so it's a bit of an odd one.

So, Jew-ish, then?

Probably wrong thread. However. Gordon in u23's yesterday anyone any idea of full team, score and scorers if any. Apologies if I have missed this info elsewhere, usually get team sheets etc posted utb
