OMG are our fans for real

I try my best to resist the temptation of looking at Shoutbox or the Matchday thread whilst a match is in progress. It's one knee jerk reaction after another: if winning ridiculous euphoria, if losing ott negativity.

Berge or anyone else who plays for us is open to criticism on their performance but labelling someone a twat shows the mentality of the poster , so yea, it's got to be about you and your lack of being unable to express your views without being vile.

Dry your eye love

Is it a sort of anxiety instilled threw memories of messing up? A sense of entitlement given our lofty position and strength of our squad? Nine out of ten of us know we will draw and lose a few games before season ends.

I appreciate all of that. I’m not chucking the baby out with the bath water.

But Berge was rubbish tonight and he has been regularly. It’s ok to expect and ask for more from your second best player.
This is what happens from decades of watching some of the crap players we have had and it’s a sad reflection on quite a large part of our fan base

Listen I’m not saying Berge has been great every game but he gets slagged every game regardless

It was pretty evident he was not brought here to be the play maker or the creative focal point, he hadn’t played that positron before I believe, he then gets put in there and asked to do that roll and now he gets slagged by a group of fans for not being Zidane/Socrates as well as Roy Keane at the same time

Nine points clear of third place.
A point away from home after a hard fought match.
Anyone would think we’re bottom of league one.
Someone has suggested we dump Egan.
Many have slated Berge who actually wasn’t that bad.
Some are criticising our manager who has the best record of anyone in the championship over the last twelve months.
I find the reactions of many pathetic. Every team has off days, every team drops points.
Only the inadequate can be at their best all the time.
It’s a skill to develop a positive attitude, something many of you need to work on.
The fear of not being promoted from where we are causes many to become irrational. Fear is a terrible emotion.

Firm but fair

Agree, don't mind the criticism.
I've mentioned this before, Pompey is often negatively critical of our performances but to be honest it's pretty accurate stuff.
Also when players play well or the team play well he DOES dish out positive comments too.

The part I don't like is, the childish "look at me" stupid comments like.

1: Middlesboro are going to catch us up now even when when they're a massive 12 points behind.
Some of our fans seem to have the warped logic that because Boro have won 6 out of their last 7 matches then they will continue that form for the rest of there season.
When history shows time and time again that teams don't go on 15 game winning streaks.
2: We've been lucky and due a bad run, when all the in-game statistics and XG data proves we're the better team in almost every match.
We've actually had a long injury list (the worse in the entire EFL), so logic suggests when the players return results should improve further not become worse.
3: Hecky is crap, get rid, just because we lose or he made a bad decision when his record for the year 2022 is fantastically impressive.
4: Berge is crap, sell him, just because he's had a bad game.
5: Sharp is crap, retire him, just because he hasn't scored.

However I don't like the equally stupid reactionary comments like
1: Sharp is great, what a striker comments - just because he's scored a goal.
2: Hecky is the best manager we've had and can't be criticised for anything- just because we've won and doing well etc

I can be quite critical of our team, manager and players regard individual matches.
but I'm still over 90% confident we'll be promoted. I also think even when not playing well, we tend to be the better team in almost every match.
I accept that Berge, Egan, Sharp, McAtee have weaknesses but I also acknowledge their qualities and strengths.
So even when they've had a crap game I still value them all.

Well said.

Depends what your starting position is, I suppose. If you expect everygame against anyone below us to be at least a 3-0 win, you are going to be spending a lot of time being negative and that becomes ingrained.

I do keep reading about people saying its United, we will impode etc etc. Can someone tell me when this has happened?

When I was in Year 8 at school, an administrative error led to me being placed in the bottom set of English class instead of the top set. For the first two weeks, I was surrounded by mouth-breathing fucktards who ate crayons and shat their pants.

Supporting this team is simply an extension of that experience. Being surrounded by thick cunts is merely the price of admission.
If someone eats crayons and shits their pants, every bowel movement would be a work of art.

Well in the main generally over the last 50 years!

Oi you, fuckin rein it in a bit !! I still shit a pantfull now and again but I haven't touched a crayon in years. ;)

Could have been eleven. But hey, why not want for more, eh?

Hard fought? Up to about 80 minutes it was difficult to see who was 1-0 up, the way we were casually passing it round the back.

Well, given QPR got tubbed by Luton at LR last game, it's a fair assumption

Everyone has opinions, Edin. So do you.

There was a twelve minute period in the first half and an eight minute one in the second where the twat never touched the ball. 'Wasn't that bad'. £20m worth of him.

Stats eh?

You find most things critical of United 'pathetic'. It's a bit pathetic, actually.

And last night was a key example. If that was our best against QPR, we are indeed inadequate

Its also a skill to never see the reality of competitive sport and be a casual observer. If you want a forum where criticism is banned, start your own

As usual, nicely worded my son. Achieving critical balance is a trick that some still have to perfect, but to my eyes, to be overly critical given how this season has gone up until now, well I'll leave it to those who are wiser than myself to explain why we're doing so badly. UTB.

It’s just the forum working - many of us were clearly genuinely baffled by the team selection, compounded by leaving misfiring players on the pitch. If Jebbison, McAtee and Bogle had played for the majority of the second half, based on the paltry time they were all together, we would have cruised that game.
So, no one is having a meltdown, it’s just opinions and discussions on the match just played.
We did cruise the 2nd half. Should have won!!! QPR were poor. Wouldn’t have scored without the mistake by JE 🤭

Maybe if some of the moaners on here actually went to the games, they may get a different and more positive perspective on what was a decent point away from home, and, perhaps life in general.
Wouldn’t fancy sitting next to them though.

And that would make a difference ... how, exactly?

I've sat in games, home and away, and we've played shit. Can't say it made much difference regarding the way the team played if I was in the stadium.

Oh, hang on. This is another 'you don't go to any matches, therefore your opinion is shit' posting, isn't it?

And I thought everyone now understood that's the hallmark of a Billy Big Blade Bellend running through it like a stick of fucking rock, so people actually stopped using it because it's vacuous and irrelevant.

I saw both goals last night from four angles, some of it quite detailed. I also could see that Wes handled the ball outside the area hence deserved his yellow card.

Billy Big Blade, me.

Afternoon Pompous.
What took you so long?

I’ve heard many fans accuse people of being sore losers. Well I think a FEW but noisy members of this forum are actually “sore winners”.
They’re never happier than moaning about something or someone. I admit Berge was poor yesterday, but to me he didn’t look well. His previous performances, whilst maybe not world beating were certainly much better. He doesn’t deserve the abuse he gets. I can’t wait for the usual bunch of moaners to be tucking into their huge portions of humble pie, when he’s back on form.
Eleven points clear of third, doing what we need to do to win, but it’s just not enough for the sore winners.
Ps You all know who they are.

What do you reckon his illness/problem is? Because he's been on and off "unwell "not fit" for 3 years now.

I think Berge’s sulking because people keep pronouncing his name incorrectly. Gary Sinclair did it again yesterday.
