Sander berge

I've been on the fence for a while (sceptical but trying to stay objective) but tonight was a poor showing for a reputable £20m player.... We/he should be controlling games like that, not disappearing into the Wigan night...

Hearing our fan base slaughter Osborn on Saturday, I'd suggest at least Osborn runs around a lot which rubs off on the others. Lurch just meanders about, which sadly rubs off.

Watching him and Stevens in that left channel was truly awful. Like a tramp and a seagull trying to get a chip...

He really needs to get more involved physically. At the moment he looks the shell of the £20m player we bought.

Haha nice

He wasn't good, but looks less than fully match fit. Again we hamstrung in midfield, so he is being played. I hope we can rotate him with Doyle or find some combination, until he is up to speed. He is not our best player, but the one who seems to balance our system most

He must be the worst headerer of the ball we've ever had. He mistimes and miscalculates just about every one. He closes his eyes, which is quite funny for an international footballer!

He's bad at heading, but you can't have seen Oli Burke if you're making that statement?
My God his timing was brilliantly bad. So, so bad. It became a guilty pleasure.

I honestly don't know what some people see. The lazy claims are so much down to his running style imo. He just glides past players with apparent ease but really he's working just as hard as someone who is obviously at full sprint
He can’t jump and he doesn’t track his man. He can be class going forward of that there is no doubt. He is a liability tracking. I wish he could do it for 90 but he can’t. Flashes are great but midfielders with flashes don’t make it IMO. Nothing to do with fitness for me overall. He doesn’t do it for 90 and never has. Flashes yes and it’s fabulous when it happens but 15-20m for me and say thanks.

Another point worth making is that he was playing deep and then spent a lot of time on the left, when he's clearly at his best when he's on the right further up the pitch.

To sum it up:

He's just back from injury
He's not match fit
He was playing too deep
He was playing on the wrong side
He was knackered after 60 mins

How's he supposed to impose himself and be at his best when he's got those factors working against him? It's worrying that Hecky is oblivious to all of this

Maybe Hecky thought he could get 90minutes under his belt and still win ?
If he did he was right!

Sander takes ages to get into the flow after a break. I assume it’s the same this time around. A few more games and he will be flying again, I’m sure

Cast your minds back to last season. He was fucking dire at Birmingham and then it picked up.

It's almost as if people forgot our bad run began partly due to him being injured...

Bizarre.
Did we not win 3 on the bounce away from home without him as well, or did we forget that as well. Listen I would love him to fantastic for 90 mins or indeed 70 but he is not in my opinion. Totally respect others but let’s try to be objective.

There’s something about tall Norwegians, Jostein Flo was quite similar. Bergen’s added to his lack of aerial talent and is now giving away free kicks while not winning headers. I’d like to think that’s because he’s trying a bit more, but I think he’s just clumsy 🙂

Well said we have got where we are 2nd more or less without him so if we can get good money to REINVEST in the team i for 1 would say GLTL but I don't think he's what we need in midfield,oh for the scouts to find another M.Brown

Don't think you can blame him 100% for that, he had a decent first half but is clearly nowhere near match fit & should have been taken off at the 55 min mark, he was an injury waiting to happen. I simply don't understand why Hecky does this with certain players & then bemoans all our injuries. It didn't help him either, being shoved over on the left in front of the still hapless Enda, who sadly is a shadow of the player he was.

The guy is clearly a very good player but for me he doesn't have the desire needed for English football. Has anyone ever seen him sprint ? He looks like he can't be arsed when we don't have the ball and the opposition just go straight past him.

Now some will say that's the kind of player he is but compare and contrast to Ndiaye who is as good on the ball and off it never stops pressing the opposition. For 99% of a game a player doesn't have the ball and for between 40 and 60% of the game the team doesn't have the ball. Therefore what you do when you don't have the ball matters....a lot.

I don't want to lose any of our best players in the window but if it's a choice between him or Ndiaye leaving in January its a no brainer !

I'd say we'd have had more than 35% of the possession (!) if Bash started in cm instead of him because we'd have won the ball back more

It's alright waiting for Berge to get fully fit, but then how long till he's injured again? But it's not like we'll have the chance to properly cash in on him anyway - no one will even bid 10m. This move has probably wrecked his career

There is a lot of interest around him. They see the potential in berge once he is fully fit. If he goes, i would be worried that United wouldn't go up automatically. He is a_key player to the midfield.

Coventry boxing day. Good luck! I should be there but i might give it a_miss.

He'd need replacing for sure but I think we could make a good fist of it, but it would need someone to stump up an unexpected fee so its a non starter - he'll stay. And if he can actually stay fit we could be very grateful for that

The officials were quite upset with how he was injured and the other team didn't get booked for it.

They look at Berge and see his price tag only. If he isn’t completely destroying the opposition then he’s shit.

Same with Brewster and, until recently, McBurnie.

He shouldn’t have played 90 v Wigan as he’s still regaining match fitness, simple as that.

Give him chance to get match fit. We don’t half like to build them up to knock them down.
He’s not & never has been a £20m plus player hence why we’ve still got him. You’re right to say last night isn’t a performance he can be judged on, but you watch N’Diaye & MGW last season & you could see why teams will fight over them. With Berge you can’t

He was good in the first, the easy chance aside. He clearly was knackered in the second and Hecky refusing to take him off is to blame. He’s just back from a long spell out and again Hecky put our players at risk of further injury.

I couldn't understand why he swapped sides with Mcatee in the s/h..? People are slagging Stevens off who along with C3P0,Fleck and the runaraound kid I want gone at the end of this season regardless of what division where in.But he gave no support to Stevens at all in the s/h.
I've said it in previous posts he hasn't got the heart or desire to play for a top side in the prem.
