For Mr Wilson to step up to the plate and see what he is really made of!
Yes, He got us playing excellent football, a joy to watch and on the whole 90 points and 93 goals would have got us promotion but it didn't!
Yes, we were unlucky losing Evans, Beattie, Hoskins, McDonald and Cresswell at a crucial time
But, we bottled it yet again........
All we needed to do was beat Stevenage at home and we would have been there!
All we needed to do was score a penalty to go 2-0 up with two pens to go!

Where we failed was our reliance on two key men Evans and McDonald - no back up plan!
It was obvious to everyone that when McDonald didn't play we struggled to create anything from midfield
It was obvious that take out a striker that had scored 35 goals and created many more we would be in the brown sticky stuff and so it proved

Sheffield United FC - the team with no bottle!
Prove us wrong Mr Wilson
As an overview:
Yes we played attractive football but failed to get promotion from a seemingly unassailable position
Relied heavily on two key players
Substitution tactics unimaginative and usually far too late to change a game
Permanant Buys Hit and Miss - more miss than hit!
Loans - Poor except for Phillips and Clarke

Wilsons record in his second year is generally poor lets see if next year he can step up to the plate and change United from Bottlers to Battlers and from failures to champions

Most of the above is correct, but to add some balance, all of it was done "on a shoe-string".

Give the man a break, and do your last sentence.

(but get off his back, whilst he gets on with his job).

I love it when people come on here and state the obvious without ever takIng into consideration the financial restrictions placed on the manager .
It implys that the manager did not see what you ( the font of all football knowledge )did ,without ever taking into account that he obviously did but can do fuck all about it

An abuse of the Internet

What gets me is people seem to forget we got a staggering 90 points!

DW can't have made too many mistakes to get to this total can he?

I am sure Stevenage with there massive financial clout paid a fortune in wages to Freeman, easily the best midfield player I have seen in that division this year and also wages paid to Hill, Williams, Porter, Ertl, Taylor, Beattie, Hoskins, O'Halloran, Tonne, Philliskirk, Egan etc who contributed very little yet collectively took a lot!
Antonio and Treacy were key loans to Wendy and probably were instrumental in their success
We again wasted a lot of cash on back ups that never played a part or were never allowed to play a part
Sorry Mr Judge but he could have done something about it!

You'll probably not like this Fiery, but Wednesday probably have a bit more to offer in terms of wages with the backing of Mandaric, for the loans of Antonio and Treacy

I agree. we finished on 90 points, but fell at the final hurdle when our two best players got jailed/injured.

There are so many points incorrect with this post, it is untrue.

1. Freeman the best midfielder in the division? well, yuo already stated out reliance on Mcdonald, a player who, in your words, is the reason for us accumulating 90 points: a mere 17 points more than Stevenage.
2. Are you suggesting no other team could have the same list of players with wasted wages?
3. You bemoan Wilson's permanent signings, yet on that list only 3 werew Wilson's permanent signings, and you have obviously overlooked Mcdonald, LJF, Flynn alongside the incredible improvement of Collins and Evans who have seemed like new signings with their rapid improvement. Same argument maybe for Willo and Quinn
4. Treacy instrumental to Wednesday's success? Gimme a break.....
5. Alot of cash on back ups? go on, who? everyone Wilson brought in was required to start at least one game even when times where desperate. don't forget that was when/why we signed Hill and Egan.

To say your post is flawed, is quite frankly a huge understatement, Sir.

What people fail to realise is that we are playing in the third division - Evans came from Manchester City at a high transfer fee (whatever the final figure was!) and very high wages (probably the highest paid player in the division) , Collins was supposed to be a reliable Championship centre half - Willo & Quinn were established Championship players
As for permanent signings only McDonald really cut the mustard - Flynn could not command a regular place and LJF was regarded as a liability hence the signing of another liability Williams
Also I stated the reason for 90 points was the combination of McDonald and Evans not purely McDonald

We got 90 points and 90 odd goals- Freak season meant we didn't go up....
Resilience by Charlton to keep winning when not playing all that great.
Pure luck by the Pigs to finish strongly(cant bring myself to say it was anything other than luck-sorry)
So lets agree that DW did a fucking good job instead of finding snidey ways to have a go.
Bad luck, tiredness and a court decision did us in the end but we all enjoyed the majority of the season.

He DID work on a shoestring and did have his hands slightly tied but look at the club he came into a year ago- Go back and look at what people were saying on here a year ago.......

Yeah we possibly choked at the end but we were brilliant for the most part...
The players that didn't perform well enough are the ones that are going, by DW's choice (Simmo, Taylor BT etc) lets hope the ones he wants to stay sign up again.

DW deserves praise for what he has done for our club. Not everything is perfect but the last bloke that was perfect got nailed to a cross(if ya believe in that)
UTB

Gosh! I wish I'd realised that...
You wouldn't believe it listening to the majority on here -
The New Messiah, 90 odd goals, 90 points against the likes of Rochdale, Bury, Wycombe, Yeovil, Orient
Footballing Giants I don't thik so!
v Charlton 0 points
v Wendy 1 point
v Huddersfield 3points
v MK Dons 3 points
v Stevenage 1 point
When it mattered we couldn't deliver
As I said Wilson did well but not that well the point of the thread is
Is he good enough to take us up next year ... time will tell!

I'm afraid youre wrong , there is no point to this thread

when DW joined, most of us pointed to mid table mediocrity this time last season... i myself said 7th just missing out on the playoffs.. (the sentiment was there.. just missing out on something).. so to turn round and then people be saying we are underachieving is a bit rich really.. any of us would have taken third place at the beginning of the year
DW has been a breath of fresh air.. modest interviews and lots of dignity and the football has been the first i've looked forward to since Spackman left.. he has managed to change the culture of the club for which i am eternally grateful

It's easy to put either a positive/negative slant on this depending from which side you're coming from, but i'm with you all the way on this one Fiery. McCabe may have kept a tight rein on spending to a certain extent but you really do have to question whether or not the money Wilson did spend was done so wisely enough. Again next season we will have resources higher than most if not all the other clubs in our division so there are no excuses this time round. That said we do have the highly inflated wages of Montgomery, Creswell, Quinn and Morgan for another 12 months. Quinny can contribute and Morgan should be told that if he is to be considered for a long term coaching role then he has to re-negotiate terms as of now. Unfortunately the other two are a millstone round our neck and everything should be done to move them on even if it means paying up part of their contracts to do so.

So the rule on this Forum is:
If your opinion differs from Mr Judge - no point in posting a thread
Perhaps Mr Judge all threads to be started should be passed by you authority to post!

Would you have been happy to settle for third with 5 games to go?
Yes, the football is much better but the question is:
Is Mr Wilson capable of going one better next year?

Feck me you lost it when you said freeman is the best midfielder in the divison lol
Is this the same tub of lard i saw 3 times last season blowing out of his arse after 10 mins. Then after running a whole 15 yards he again run out of steam?

Hw looked better at stevenage as they played a lot of counter attacking football. Which meant while they was defendind freeman had time to get his breath back, do another 15 yard run then go missing again for another 5 mins while he got his breath back.

Thats why we had to put two men on him in the 2nd Leg at BDTBL !

Again. Look more at how two men ended up closing him down. He ran out of steam which enabled covering players to help get the ball back.

I agree he has huge potential but only if his fitness improves a lot.

Were you on the White Lightening when you watched Freeman and wrote this typo strewn cack???? He was a constant thorn in our sides every time we played them this last season. Thats why we had to two man him both legs of the play offs. Love to see him at the Lane.

You will probably if you go when we play Stevenage at home

I was merely pointing out that those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones as you appeared to do when accusing Tearstain of making typo errors.

I'm sure he's read this and will heed your words. He'll think about it and it will make him perform better based on your assessments.
