The one thing we need more than anything is a strong, physical central midfield player. If Coulibaly is not fit or ready to step up we must get rid of Khadra and replace him with said type.
I am assuming that Brewster and Jebbison will be fit for the new year but if not we have to bring in a striker as there is no way that Mcburnie, Ndiaya and Sharp can take us up. If no funds available this would mean Mcatee going back and using his salary for a loan.

I'll jinx it now, but Baldock is the most aggressive player that never(?) gets sent off. It's scary but it's great.
He has also been excellent for the most part, despite the constant clamour for Bogle which must make it quite difficult for him.
Furious George has been a terrific servant to this club IMHO.

Without going in on any players qualities, it's obvious we need one if not two more in midfield. Khadra and McAtee are not able to deputise for Berge. Maybe it worked last season with McG briefly, bcos he was strong and could come deep.and support the midfield. That means now we have 4 players covering 3 positions, one of whom is Fleck. Then just having that tacfi al option of an enforcer if we need them. Maybe another target man type, given McBurnie patchy fitness.

Striker x1, x2 if one leaves (Khadra, Brewster)
Center Mid x1
Center Back x1, x2 if one leaves (Clark)
Left Wing Back x1 (too many injuries)

Needs must, we are desperate.
Aye
Because other clubs will be like shit wasps competing for Brewster given his wages, performances & injury (history) 🤔

Steady on, I was simply offering a perspective on who might be the most likely target of bids…. Jeez
Apologies. I wrongly assumed that like some people here you were suggesting we still sold our best players, which has not been the case for some time. Sorry for jumping to the wrong conclusion. We’re all Blades!

Everyone agreeing on the 2 positions needed? Anyone we could ship out to cover the wages? Big squad etc.
Not sure we can ship anyone out considering the injury problems so far this season.

Fully agree we need a central midfielder (unless Coulibaly is good enough). And most likely a striker if Brewster is injured long term and Billy maybe struggling(?).

Heard a rumour that Sander isn't featuring on the 2023 calender squad pic. IF true that suggests a January exit. Fervently hope not and it's another bit of social media trash.

I'd say we definitely need a CM. We have done for a few years. The one thing we're missing, regardless of injuries.

As for strikers, if McBurnie, Sharp and Jebbo are fit I don't think we need one. Especially not if Brewster is returning. We only play one striker next to Ndiaye anyway. If Ndiaye gets injured or we sell him, then McAtee or Khadra can play that role. We had 2/3 strikers on the bench at the start of the season. If there's only McBurnie and Sharp fit in January then I'd recall Osula.

As for funding it. I argued to sell Berge before the season started and use the funds. His price tag is dipping by the week as we approach the end of his contract. I'd cut and run, if we can, but not sure who is paying a decent fee (high single millions as a basic) for a player with his injury record.

We could always send one of McAtee or Khadra back and use that loan spot. We have a major issue though, especially if we don't go up (which I don't think we will), in terms of how many of the squad are either going or past it. We need to start buying more players. Fairly urgently.

Selling Berge and bringing in two quality players needed wouldn't be the worst idea.
I see the logic, but at the same time I think we’ve missed him in recent weeks. I’d sooner stick with him and have a better known quantity playing there; one who can hopefully play a part in getting us back into the top flight.

Not necessarily, Baldock wasn't on this years and he's still here

If Ndiaye gets injured or we sell him, then McAtee or Khadra can play that role.
I'm sorry pal but if you seriously believe that then (IMO) either you're on the wind up or you haven't been watching.

Personally, I think if Illy gets an injury that keeps him out of the game for any significant length of time this season then we are shagged. He's THE most crucial part of our attacking intent in virtually every game IMO and represents the biggest threat we carry. McAtee will hopefully improve as time goes on but we mustn't rely on him at the moment. Khadra is someone who will carry a significant threat when played out wide and gets to run at a defender. I doubt he'd be as effective in the middle of the park, picking the ball up and running at two or three defenders and dragging us up the pitch.

Opinions, eh?

Sell Sharp to a league one club hopefully one that can pip pigs to promotion. Use his wage to bring cover in up top, and hopefully we go back in for tgat young Canadian lad in midfield

We won't sign anyone, without players leaving. It's too much of a financial risk, the alternative is that you do a Bournemouth sign 4/5 players to push you up & if it doesn't work out you're f*cked.

There were strong suggestions that Villa & Bournemouth were going to be in FFP trouble if they had failed to go up

I don’t think we’d be totally screwed. The saleable assets of Egan, Ndiaye, Berge & McBurnie would all still be around in the Sunmer.
If we don’t go up, they’ll all be off regardless.

They'll still be here with one year left on their deals? That's not a great place to be in. McBurnie is a player we have an option on, that option will be only his current salary too. They could all effectively leave for free or a discounted price due to their contract
