eighteen goals from McBurnie and Ndiaye. Where did the other sixteen come from? The one thing we need more than anything is a strong, physical central midfield player. If Coulibaly is not fit or ready to step up we must get rid of Khadra and replace him with said type.
I am assuming that Brewster and Jebbison will be fit for the new year but if not we have to bring in a striker as there is no way that Mcburnie, Ndiaya and Sharp can take us up. If no funds available this would mean Mcatee going back and using his salary for a loan.
Yes if you chuck all at it. that isn't what was meant. buy two or three , if poss , players, that will help the squadIsn't this called doing a Leeds?
Agree with a lot of this, personally I can’t see Brewster and Jebbison making any impact in the prem also I really don’t get the jebbison love in, yea he was having a good spell at burton but he hardly tore the league up yet many think he’s our next superstar. Don’t get me wrong I’d love him to go on to be our next legend but I’m just not convinced, he’s not actually done much of note to date.I’ll be intrigued how United would approach the summer window if we were to go up.
I can imagine it being quite modest.
So many infrastructure things were not pushed on in Wilder’s reign I can well imagine we’d not do a Norwich but look for gems like Anel rather than be sucked into huge fees like last time.
In the keeping department I can well imagine Hecky would be loyal to Wes and Davies. Though if I’m not mistaken the Turkish keeper we liked when we went for Ramsdale is coming to the end of his deal - Altay Bayindir. Also Viktor Johansson from the Millers is free.
In defence I’d imagine Hecky would be quite happy with Baldock/Bogle and Norrington-Davies/Lowe as his options. Centre defence you’d imagine he’d stick with Egan and Ahmedhodzic. Basham has another year but you’d expect him to be 5th or 6th choice. It would be great if O’Connell was back, that would be an amazing story and a great back three but well, you know. I wouldn’t be surprised if we were aware of Ahmedhodzic’s teammate, who plays for Rubin Kazan and has a very similar profile to Anel - Denis Hadzikadunic. He is out of contract and at 24, a good age. I didn’t think we used loans so well that second season. So going to Chelsea and getting back Ampadu (ha, ha, had you there!) sorry and enquiring about Colwell or Sarr on loan would not be unwise. Still might need one more.
Into midfield I’d imagine going back for Doyle would be a no-brained all round. A level up for him, a good barometer for Man City and a familiar face for us. With his star on the rise, if promoted, perhaps Kone and United would intercept at a mutually beneficial point. Then perhaps one more combative, defensive player we’ve missed. Both Grillitsch and Camara would be at the end of their deals and had been linked with United when we got Berge.
Then it would be a question of the forwards, how much to back Heckys’s youth? You’d hopefully have N’Diaye, McBurnie and Brewster along with Jebbison and Osula. Do we hope they can make the breakthrough? Would Khadra have done enough to trigger an option by then and would Billy be hanging the boots up or going elsewhere or joining the coaching staff? He’s not looking like he’s got too much more in him on the playing side.
I’d be reasonable contented if the Club went sensible and invested in training facilities and the like that would set us in a good position for years to come.
But to January, aside from perhaps minor tinkering, just getting players back would be like having a new window!
