Given that upwards of 50 thousand people or more from Yorkshire could be hitting the M1 at about the same time on saturday, it might be worth noting that there are some fairly significant roadworks on the M1 around Luton.

It would only take a small incident for major delays and given the potential volume of traffic what with cars, mini buses, coaches et al, it might be worth considering an alternative route of the A1 or M40 for those who have the choice.

The Star was saying stuff like this before the 1993 Semi final. Apparently, 75,000 Sheffielders going the same way at the same time would lead to a plague of locusts o'er the land, or something. Leave early, they said, expect delays, they said, go via the A1, they said.

This resulted in thousands of Sheffielders wandering around a street full of closed shops in Stanmore at 7am.

Only trying to help as it would only take a bump at the wrong time and place to cause serious delays. And I speak from recent experience of these roadworks which is why I will be avoiding them.

Like I said, only trying to help fellow Blades.

For those driving on the A1, I'd suggest parking near a station that goes to Kings X - such as Hitchin, Stevenage or Potters Bar - and let the train take the strain with a single tube from KX to Wembley. If there's 4 of you you can get a group ticket so you only pay half price.

yeah we did.. waiting for macdonalds to open.. just for something to do

We were watching Blades kicking seven bells out of Wendys in a thirty three per side game in the Wembley car park at 10 o'clock - watching the United coach arrive to a fantastic welcome remains the best memory of the day.

Ahem, Alan Cork, Ahem.
