>Prefer the reports on RS lot shorter and not so self indulgent
hmm.. i like the self indulgence personally.. it adds a bit of a 'personal experience touch'.. great report olle.. what with you doing the away ones and DB doing the home ones there's no need to go anymore :D

Crimes Against football

Couldn’t single anyone out. Maguire’s distribution was not great, but he played well. Under Danny Wilson the Blades seem to have banished hoof.
Evans 4/10 – through he was poor yesterday. His touch was awful and the ball did not stick. His movement was not good enough and Charlton tamed him easily. He was up against good defenders and he really struggled. Also missed a massive chance. Simply have to take chances like that against the best teams. Bad day at the office.

Something posted on another thread got me thinking about crimes against football and I think I have to say that Chedwyn Evans had to scoop the award last week. A few of us laughed (innapropriately) in the ale house after the match when someone suggested Ched had the touch of a rapist. But in all seriousness his touch is poor. His first touch on Sat-di was terrible and his second touch a tackle/foul (if the defender had not cleared). I have not noticed this in recent weeks (perhaps poorer defences and more space/time) but it was really obvious on Saturday. A neutral would have stated that the two strikers (him and Cressy) were simply not good enough. Let's see how Ched does against Huddersfield and Wednesday, but there are question marks over whether he is actually a player that should be playing in the level above. He struggled in the Championship and has maybe found his level. Perhaps I am being harsh on our top scorer and one of the main reasons why we're 3rd and level on points with second. However, I would criticise others for this. His second half miss was also criminal. So Ched scoops the prestigous award of crimes against football for his shocking touch and inept performance. I think my mark of 4 was gerous too.

Morning from South East London,

Even against Huddersfield, altho we played slightly better in that, we managed to keep Rhodes under control

We only had to keep Rhodes under control for 20 minutes, as he was on the bench and they were 3-0 when he came on :-) Imagine how bad the score might have been if he'd started.

At Charlton, I thought we were worth a point, but we really didn't put them under much pressure, despite 8 corners, though the disallowed flappy 'keeper goal would have given us what we deserved.

It is the exception for me nowadays rather than the norm. I think at 34 years old the big drinking binges are getting harder to take.

I think i did talk to one of the LB's, on the train to Charlton, as i travelled down with some work mates, and they stopped at Greenwich whilst i went sraight on to Charlton, and ended up talking to a southern Blade and his lad. Wonder if it is anyone off here.

You really can't beat a good day out in London watching the Blades.

Think it may've been me and my old man Brownie - did you run for the train with us? Bumped into you in the Rose too?

Apparently, some Charlton fan who sits directly behind the goal clearly saw one of our forwards pulling their goalie back.
It's amazing that the TV cameras didn't pick this up but still comforting to know that we weren't robbed by a bad refereeing decision after all:-

"North Stand Upper Directly Behind The Goal believes that the decision to disallow the 'goal' was correct. Here's what he saw:

I agree Hamer was week dropping the ball throughout the Sheffield United game. The ref was right to disallow the goal as a Sheffield forward pulled Hamer back, we were lucky the ref saw what was clear from the North Upper, and Hamer should have been stronger and safer not dropping the ball. We were lucky that ref saw this and we cannot rely on any referee, this one was generally poor.

DK Says: Thanks for that NSUDBTG, good to hear the decision was correct."

Didn't realise we'd signed the invisible man in the JTW, what a waste of money, that clown could have cost us promotion...

I think the goal was disallowed for Maguire's 'foul' on their player. The video shows that Harry and their player are tussling (though nowhere near the ball) but it looks fifty fifity. There is noone within 2 yards of flappy Hamer. If there was an award for crimes against catching then this numpty would win it. Reminds me of Becky Bruce playing rounders in year 8.
