email from club - NO MORE TICKETS ON SALE IN KOP - standing & wrong seat usage

I have zero sympathy with a 5"7 women who chose the back or the KOP not being able to see? Isn't it blindingly obvious the back of the KOP isn't an area for a partially disabled women with 10 & 12 year old kids?
Where as it IS the blindingly obvious area for young lads wanting to stand and make an atmosphere.
You want to sit down pick one of the other 33000 seats in the ground. Really simple stuff.

What if I'm better than you at making a noise and therefore (apparently) better than you at making an atmosphere. Am I allowed to ask you to move further down the Kop, somewhere closer to the front? I assume you'd be OK with that if I did.

Having the “singers” or whatever in the middle/left hand side/right hand side of the Kop is fine by me. And clearly there does need to be more atmosphere on the ground.
But what cannot happen, by the current licence the club have to operate under is the current 2/3 per seat, blocking gangways that’s going on now. Anything other than that, crack on for me.
Agreed mate. But the only solution I can see to stopping this happening is by expanding the section.

I personally have a standing spot I'm fine with 👍 I'm just aware that in order to have the biggest impact on the KOP & ground as a whole the best place to put those wanting to make a noise would be the back of the middle. You clearly don't care about the lack of atmosphere so will never view things through this lense.

Again, something that l’ve not said. That’s one of the most annoying things on here, fact free claims.

If I was asking you to sit down, yeah at the back of the KOP you'd have every right to tell me to move somewhere else imo 👍

How do you propose the section expands without moving people sitting down 8 rows from the back then mate?
Long term if a safe standing area is built then the sitters would have to move. But that’s going to take time. Linz linked the criteria earlier in the thread, basically everyone has to behave themselves if we’re to even have the conversation about safe standing.

The way the safety group, council, and many fans see it at the moment is that the standing we have isn’t safe, because everyone’s congregating etc (we’ve gone over that enough times) so I can’t see them agreeing to installing rails for standing as things are now.

That’s a question for SCC. They are having a go at us. Read @TJB’s post and then tell me there’s no issue. If people continue and there’s even a partial closure, are you going to blame the perpetrators for risking it, or the club that’s not?
I'll blame both. Firstly those for standing in seats not allocated to them and secondly, to the club for not getting a handle on the situation (through the stewards that are employed to deal with these very situations), or communicating the issue/potential outcomes. The latter may well have resulted in a bit of self-policing, if fans had been clearly made aware of any sanctions.

There is a massive mid-ground in stewarding; between doing nothing and the 'Nazi style' stewarding you refer to later on in this thread. One extreme to the other rarely works.

So the timeline has been?

Without knowing all the facts, no. Not even to try backing up a point.

Neither of us know, supposition isn’t fact. As l said, these legal things aren’t decided overnight.

Seeing as we’re swimming in cash, we should be able to afford an appeal.

The timeline I can surmise seems to be:-

This has been raised as an issue by SAG
The club have implemented measures to resolve
The clubs measures to resolve have failed
The club now has to stop selling tickets on the Kop

The clubs swimming pool of cash becomes a puddle.

If I’m Abdullah taking the call and someone’s telling me “We’ve got to stop selling tickets on the Kop”, my first question would be “How the fuck has it got to this?”.

Come on guys, Sheffield City Council just loves us and wants what's best for us.

And the boot doesn't taste that bad after the first few licks.

Great. Let me know where your seat is for the next game. I'll come along and ask you to move on the promise that I'll make more noise than you.

Not read all of this but where is the evidence of standing in the gangways that many people are saying.

I stand at the back and would go as far as saying it isnt overcrowded and other than last few mins of game I don’t see anyone stood in the gangways.

The world I.e. England, i.e. Sheffield has gone mad with all this health and safety rubbish.

As for people saying you should be say in your seat I’d challenge anyone to sit in a seat in the top few rows of the kop and tell me that they can see all of the kop goal because I guarantee that you can’t, hence why people stand up

The most sensible option by a distance to me & I would think most people would be the back of the middle of the KOP. In order to be central & attempt to get everyone else going.
And displace hundreds of ST Holders who have been there for years ?
At what stage do you ask these fans who currently want to sing and stand to move away from these seats because they will get to an age where they will want to take kids or they feel to old to be crammed in. (i.e. the cycle starts again)

fair comment.

I wonder if the Kop corner, the corner stand between the Kop and John St, might be a solution to house the fans that want to stand and make a noise, as a short term fix at least.

Not ideal, but there wouldn't be the problems with overcrowding as you could control the numbers easier. And it's close enough to the Kop to feel part of the Kop. It's already segregated.

I went on there last year and the view is surprisingly good. No pillars. The seats have a bit more room than the kop seats too (I think)

I wouldn't be asking you to sit down. You decided to reply to something completely different, lol. It isn't unreasonable at any other club to think if you aren't wishing to stand up you don't buy tickets 8 rows from the back of the most vocal section, especially when disabled with young kids.

At Leeds and almost every other club with a decent atmosphere people buy behind the goal when they're young and wanting to be in the mix, then when they're old and or want to take their young kids, they move out to the flanks.
It's common sense to almost everyone other than us, who can't even manage to give the atmosphere generators 8 rows of the KOP.

It doesn't matter whether you'd be asking me to sit down. I'd be making more noise than you and therefore I have the right to be wherever I want and do whatever I want. Those who are making less noise can be further down the stand and away from people like myself who want to make more noise than you.

Why do you have to stand up to make a noise? It's always baffled me that one
Comes from church that. All stand up for hymns. Blame the Bible bashers. Even in school assembly we stood up to sing.

I'm afraid it's indoctrined.

No point engaging when you're being deliberately awkward.
Like I say, nowhere else is expecting partially disabled women with 10 year old kids to sit somewhere other than 8 rows from the back of the most atmospheric section a point of controversy. Clearly to some of you lot it is and that perhaps explains our horrendous atmosphere.

Yes, I really wish they would. It's the worry of upsetting a few people ("can you move 20 yards please, sorry for not letting you know it wasn't an exact seat for life") that's gradually ruining the match day experience for me.

I'd be one of those who'd lose my seat, I'd add.

Palace, the example that YOU actually stated, did exactly that. Moved their loudest from the left into the middle.

Fixed that for you.

I'm not discussing disabled women or 10 year old kids. I guarantee that I'll make more noise than you do but I want to be in your seat to be able to do so. Let me know where it is for the next game and you can find somewhere else to be, with the quieter people. If it’s all about creating a better atmosphere there shouldn’t be a problem.

And yet all those gangways are clear and there aren’t 2/3 people per seat.

Yeah but at least they’re all stood up from the front row. Probably mainly women in attendance too. Wonder how many Swedish equivalents of “siddarn” there were.

I wonder if that particular lady is one of the Golden Girls who attend every game and always sit towards the back at away fixtures. Making noise btw.

This is a problem for me. I have a season ticket back of the Kop. with 2 family members who are also season ticket holders. next to me.
My uncle's granddaughter comes to some games. she is not very tall. I let her stand in my seat. I stand just to the side. now it looks like.
I will have to move to the seat she has bought. will spoil it for me.i don,t know anyone else.so I will have to lump it.

You haven't made my point look idiotic in the slightest mate. Partially disabled women with disabled kids shouldn't be right at the back of the KOP moaning that other people won't sit down to anyone with any common sense whatsoever. It is the most ridiculous seat she could possibly choose to buy.

Heaven Forbid! Just to create an atmosphere? Who will think of Wilfred?
