email from club - NO MORE TICKETS ON SALE IN KOP - standing & wrong seat usage

Its pretty inevitable what’s going to happen

1. Those who stand at the back of the Kop, who have had a belly full of ale and / or been on the Marching powder are not going to sit down during the Burnley and Rotherham games.

2. There is going to serious trouble between the Stewards and these people if this is attempted to be enforced.

3. When we return after the World Cup the back 8-10 rows of the Kop will be netted off and the people who have season tickets there will be offered new seats around the ground or offered refunds.

4. This area of the Kop will be permanently closed until we get new owners able to afford the cost to fully redevelop this part of the stadium.. as has happened at the Sty already.

I can’t see any other outcome but this.

Pretty much how I see it playing out but then those who stand at the back will stand at the new back...8-10 rows down from the old back.

Also a portion of those who stand at the back provably dont have tickets there so wont affect them.

Process won't get repeated then if there are still issues; they will just shut the whole Kop.

Then they should pick one of the 33000 seats that isn't the back 10-15 rows of the KOP. Otherwise known as common sense

Is that where CPB sits? I didn't see that. If so then fair enough IMO (edit - I mean I accept that they like to do that up there and as a non-stander I would just avoid it) . If he sits elsewhere and does it then that's not OK.

Why should season ticket holders who were more than likely there before you; move to what will be an inferior seat just so you can stand up?
why do have a sense of entitlement ?
it is an all seater stadium!

this is yet another instance of the minority spoiling it for the majority.

what do you do during the week, sit in roads or climb bridges and disrupt traffic

Because we have too many people wanting to stand up for the area that accommodates them... hence the issues. People are never going to "just sit down" so it's pointless pretending that is a solution.
It isn't "for me" as luckily we managed to get season tickets within the standing section but there is no space left for anyone new which means they go and plonk themselves in somebody else's seat at the back.

You don’t get it, there is no area that accommodates them, you are breaking the ground regulations by standing up

Okay well every single ground has these areas whether it's technically allowed or not. Away fans including ours stand up every week. It's pointless pretending those with the desire to stand will simply sit down. They won't. So a solution has to be found.

Unfortunately it's also pointless you pretending you can carry on doing it in the light of this. It's really not "the standing section". Not sure the council will give a shit if you get the kOp shut down

I agree, but until then sit down, stop costing the club money and accept the fact that the people who sit on our council do not live in the real world.
approach the club, engage in dialogue

I won't, partly because I don't want to, mainly because someone 7 rows infront of me will stand up meaning essentially no choice anyway. There is zero chance of the whole kop sitting down whether they should or they shouldn't.

We'll see if people 7 rows infront of me stand up next game (leaving us with no choice). My money is on yes.

My personal opinion is they won’t go as far as shutting the entire Kop..

I don’t think those in front of the new netted area will be as bad and will have been spooked once they realise SAG and The Council were serious, plus SAG will have been satisfied they have made their point and got the same outcome they achieved at Hillsboro in shutting down part of the stadium.

The real problem that was never addressed is the Kop stand was meant to be a temporary remedy to the Taylor report and was never meant to be a long term solution, Reg Brealey said at the time in 1991 he envisioned it would “need replacing in about 5 years with a proper stand“ we never did this and the chickens are coming home to roost

No, the atmosphere the small number of us create is good. Overall the atmosphere is shite because nobody else bothers. How you blame the shit atmosphere on the section that DOES try is beyond me.
Finances are a question of priority but I've stated alternatives to official safe standing rail seats.

There’s seemingly a general consensus on this board that the atmosphere is shit. It can be. You don’t seem to be having much success in improving it but describe it as “good” by you. When it does pick up, it’s the fans you so easily dismiss reacting to events on the pitch. Unless people like you become 200% louder all of a sudden.

Any safe standing area at our level has to be “official” it’s the law. Your passion is preventing joined up thinking. If everything was as simple as you seem to think, we wouldn’t be so far down this rabbit hole of Mad Hatter solutions.

People round us make noise almost all the time. People elsewhere very occasionally join in. Very strange to blame those at it all the time.

I’m saying your claim of the atmosphere you create being good may not resonate with the rest of the ground.

Nowt like self entitlement eh

Everyone is kinda swerving the point that the installation of any standing section wouldn't be a decision arbitrarily come to by the club but would also require sign-off by the safety licencing lot...

We can't just bang some rail seats in next month and job's a good 'un.

It isn't a big enough section to make the overall atmosphere good, agreed.
I'm sure the rest of the ground would be in agreement that the loudest section is those who stand on the right hand side of the kop, mind.

Cards on the table Do you see anyway we get through this without having the back of the Kop netted and closed off?

I am afraid I don’t.

In fact I would go as far as to say the decision has already been made because both the club and the council must surely know the people in that area aren’t going to sit down.

Someone tried to create an atmosphere with a singing section. Put a lot of time and effort in. Where were you then?

In the loudest section in the ground making alot of noise as usual! If people want to try to improve other areas aswell, best of luck to them! Hopefully people sat on their hands in the dead zones go and join.

If they didn’t, they will now. Despite the statement from the Club, some seem to be deliberately choosing to not just ignore it but actually suggesting to act against it. This is not Stop the Oil or about climate change, this is just a foot stamping exercise by those who are self entitled.

This forum is prone to condescension, but this has been a particularly tough read.

We have a problem which isn't a problem in other stadia. It isn't caused by the existence of standing/singing youths. These people exist in other grounds without much issue.

That the solution most people offer is "just sit in your own fucking seat" is pathetic.

It’s still shit. Maybe actually strep it up before you go on your crusade.

Less shit than everywhere else. Not sure how people moving from the loudest section to another section would have helped (I never even knew about this btw). We need people sat on their hands in other sections to join.
Pointless people already in the best areas relocating. Our atmosphere isn't shit because the loudest section isn't loud enough, it's shit because nobody else joins in.
