Might be a bit controversial but the one thing that Monty does do consistently well is mark people out of the game. Might be the man to stick on Rhodes?

Just saying!

Did you know that Frank Lampard once said...........................................

But seriously. I'm not his biggest fan by any stretch, but thought he did well when he came on for K Mac.

Could be but in the win at Hudds when Rhodes and the rest of them were shut down Monty was on the bench.

I'd rather we went into the game without the handicap of him playing. They should give us a couple of goals head start whenever he's in the starting 11 just to make it fair.

Monty didn't play when we beat them at their ground and Rhodes didn't do a thing all night. He did play pretty well when he came on for McD the other night though.

I thought Monty was terrible when he came on. He gave the ball away two or three times, that led to them almost scoring. His shortcomings were made evident by the fact that other players around him were trying to play football.

Funny how we all see things differently.

Monty is synonimus with everything thats gone wrong with this club over the years.

I would not start him if i had the choice.

Won't get into the debate regarding his selection, but if Monty plays it won't be to mark Rhodes. Rhodes plays up front and will have to be dealt with by our centre halves. Huddersfield will probably play Damien Johnson and Tommy Miller in central midfield and to be honest they are not the kind of playmakers that require man marking.

People have advocated a 4-4-2 formation on the basis of Jordan Rhodes being bound to score at least once. That's just a guess. If we cut out the service to him and block his efforts he may score none.

Huddersfield scored a pretty poor 35 goals at home this season, worse than Stevenage. Even worse than Wycombe. Maybe they are similar to Stevenage in that they are not good at opening up teams when the onus is on them to dominate the game. Their 3-0 win at Bramall Lane and 0-1 defeat at their place supports that theory. We've seen something that didn't work, and something that worked.

Having learned from the league game at BL, the Stevenage play off games saw us soak up whatever they had to offer (not a great deal when we got our tactics right) and gradually start to dominate. The formation, work rate and focus made sure that we didn't take too big risks and they weren't allowed to break.

We're not at our best. Plan A, B and C may have gone out the window in terms of options up front. But get our tactics just right and we'll have a great chance at Wembley.

If K-Mac is out, does nobody think McCallister could come in instead of Monty? Although I highly doubt that would happen. Just pointing out Monty isn't our only option.

McAllister has not played for United in 2012. I know we are desperate, but if push comes to shove I guess Monty will get picked ahead of him.

I wondered if there may be a possibility of his involvement of some kind, he had a good spell with Shrewsbury didn't he? Seem to remember reading a thread on one of their forums posted on here raving about him. Big occasion to make your first contribution of 2012 though...

I think that's the important part of it, he's going to struggle to score without the service.

I also agree with others that going 4-5-1 brings back bad memories for a PO final but it's a different team, different manager, different players.

In DW we trust :)

I don't like Monty as a player but I have to say he did OK the other night. He got forward rather well and looked for space in between their midfield and defence. He passed sideways to Doyle and let him distribute the ball to the likes of Willo and Quinn.

Still rather have a fit KMac any day but can't say much bad about Monty's performance the other night. Although that doesn't mean to say I think Monty should start the final. :)

Will you be there Bergen?

If there is one thing that Monty can bring to the party it is the fact that he has the experience of the big occasion and this could help settle a few nerves in the camp

(yeah OK tin hat as I know what's coming next! :p)

Cool heads are required, in Danny I believe that we have the man to encourage and settle the team. Unlike previous play off finals, where in the lead up we made things moredifficult for ourselves; Warnock falling out with Windas v Wolves and Blackwell getting on the wrong side of Mike Dean v Burnley.
