Is it time to stop the knocking?

After recent postings on here which criticised certain players such as Porter, Simmo, Hill, Monty and Quinny (self included), each one of those mentioned made a vital contribution to the great game and result last night.

Should we now lay off the criticism to let them bask in the glory of last night's performance, or make only constructive criticim to help them improve?

Some of the earlier posts could have demotivated or annoyed them. This is not what we want now with a playoff final coming up or when we may want to keep them for next year.
 



Especially Simonsen, i've read a few people saying things on bladesmad like he shouldn't start another game, i highly doubt any of our other keepers would have pulled off that save

He's a bit dodgy for coming off his line but still the best keeper we have
 
Personally I think it'd be a blessing if we could get rid of those 5.

I like Quinny and don't have a problem with Monty if he's restricted to tackling only, but i'd not lose any sleep if either of them left.

I agree wholeheartedly with your major premise. I have imposed such a restriction on myself for quite a while now. I'm supporting the shirts all the way.

Forgive me though for raising an eyebrow at the notion that Monty played a vital role, in the same way as the others named. Yes, It is fair to say that he was one of twelve who gave their all and that's commendable.

Let's just say I hope his Blades career ends on a glorious note!

Tad harsh, I didn't think he did anything wrong when he came on last night, and admittedly I absolutely feared the worst when he did come on so I was glad to eat my words.

Man of the match for me though, Quinny. Absolutely superb last night and worked his nuts off, that's the best he's played IMHO since the start of the season, just hope he carries that performance into Wembley

That's a coincidence though. McDonald going off and Monty coming are not the REASON that United were better second half. That was always going to happen Stevenage were always going to be really tight first half, trying to quieten the crowd and frustrate the players. The game was always going to get more open as time went on and teams needed to start having a go. As we are a better side (on paper) and at home, we were always going to grow into the game more and more. I don't think Monty is especially relevant to any of that.
 
Some people just don't get the message. It is sometimes as if you want to demotivate them. Now is not the time to get on their backs!

probably because he didn't do anything 'at all' and the other players were visibly avoiding passing to him.. the only chance they had was because he failed to make a simple 5 yard pass and they broke away and almost scored.. yeah ok i said i'd stop moaning about him until he left.. he left.. he came back.. all bets are off.

I concur with your point Hodgyman, but criticism and moaning (constructive or not) and Blades go together like water and wet - it'll happen whether we like it or not...

But bravo for at least raising a meritorious point mate :cool:
 
credit where credits due,i for one have slated porter for the majority of this season,even upto yesterday moments before his header.
Same goes for dracula,i still think there are better keepers out there who`d come to us.
Quinn started the season well then faded badly,but the last 3 games he`s been given a free role and looks like a new man.
Critisism comes with the game,as pro`s they should be able to handle it.

I'm not a knocker myself, but surely this is why we contribute to the forum, so that we can air our frustrations with certain players. I believe that there are over 130 members on here, 10% of which are mainly the so called' knockers', for want of a better phrase. But with the blades average attendance being 18/19 k ,then surely a few knockers on here are hardly represenitve of the 'whole'. Utb

You're probably right that they have a look at least now and then. Agree with your original point, let's try and be supportive and positive until the final. After that we should have an open and unrestrained debate about the way forward in terms of squad building.
 
All this negativity is not good I mean there's a couple of tits on here in particular always criticising - a right pair of large knockers.

I'll get mi coat.
 
I've criticised Porter because of his limited ability, but more because of what I perceive to be his lack of effort, enthusiasm, strength and not using his physical presence to good effect.

I thought last night he worked really hard and did all of that and more, in a very difficult role.

I like to think he does look on here, read my previous post and was inspired to up his workrate.

demotivated - don't be ridiculous.
