Watching Ranger's getting ripped to pieces by Ajax. Got to ask myself,is John Lundstrum the luckiest fecker to ever play Champions League football.
I don't think he is good enough to get in our current squad, if the Blades relocated to Scotland I think we could be in the Champions league.😂😂

If rangers or celtic was in England they'd be a championship club if that.
They really wouldn’t. With the money the EPL clubs get and then with further investment with being a EPL club they would both be top 12 clubs instantly and both fighting for Champions League spots within 6/7 years. Both enormous clubs with unreal worldwide fan bases. Just my opinion of course.

Edit - just seen your reply above, could be right on that one.

Surely not as big as the S6 fanbase. They are truly global.😉

Another thread about John fuckin Lundstram !!

What's next? John Lundstram must be the luckiest fecker to own a Rolex? John Lundstram must be the luckiest fecker to own a luxury car? John Lundstram must be the luckiest fecker to own a huge house on the Wirral?

The possibilities are endless. He's no longer anything to do with Sheffield United so just let it go for fecks sake

Not for long. With their fan base they’d be prime candidates for investment.

Celtic and rangers are as big as any club in the UK outside of man utd and Liverpool.given a few tears premier league cash they would be taking the champions league spots

Are they really that big? They get good attendances, but that only really demonstrates their popularity in Scotland - match day income represents a miniscule proportion of PL clubs income.

Do you see kids wearing Rangers/Celtic shirts? Not really, other than in Scotland.

Do they have large a large appeal on social media? Not really, 850k followers on Twitter: nothing compared to the top 6 PL clubs; Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool have over 20m. Even the blades have 500k.

Do they have any appeal in overseas markets; China, North America? I'd guess no, the value of the SPL TV rights certainly suggests not.

If you measure a clubs size by the old fashioned metrics, yes, they're undoubtedly big clubs, and had they been playing in England for the last 3 decades, I'm sure one or both would be comparable to the top 6 in England.

By modern metrics, the ones that count to investors, they're small fry, unfortunately for them. The idea they'd be able to catch up with the better teams in England is frankly ludicrous if you ask me.

Astonishingly, an Italian team (Juventus) are being investigated for racist chants by their fans at PSG. When are UEFA finally going to make a stance and throw a team out of the competition as an example to other clubs ? Don’t hold your breath.

Let's just talk about things not mentioned before then. If you're not interested don't comment.
Was mainly about the quality of our team compared to one playing in the Champions league.

Everywhere I've ever been on holiday there has been a Celtic bar

True....however they come 3rd and 4th as the biggest clubs in the UK, only behind Man Utd and Liverpool.
So they would receive massive interest regards investment
and once they're in the PL receiving 110 plus million a season they would slowly but surely rise up that table.

Might take 5 to 10 years but with more money and investment than most of the other PL clubs
they'd both eventually be serious challengers for the top 6 spots every year.

Yes they are that big....more like truly massive...the 3rd and 4th biggest fanbases in the UK.

They don't just get good attendances, they hold most of the highest attendance records in Britain, far higher than Man U or Liverpool.
Think the Celtic v Leeds game in 1970 had an attendance of 134K, it should have been played at Celtic Park but demand was so high they moved it to Hampden Park
and it's still a European competition record attendance, higher than Real or Barcelona.

The British record attendance is 118K for league match Rangers at home to Celtic just after the war.

Go to the Rep of Ireland, possibly the whole nation supports Celtic,,,,thats several million just there.
I've visited Belfast several times in the late 90's. On a Saturday you'd see load of Celtic and Rangers shirts.
Quite a few Man Utd and Liverpool supporters there too.

It's the PL that has the appeal in the overseas market.
If Ranger and Celtic joined their followers would double overnight.
Think our Youtube followers more than doubled as soon as we reached the PL.

Couldn't give a flying fuck what Jug Eared Cunt Mk 2 is doing quite frankly. He'll be at St Mirren in 3 years time, supplementing his income by working for Deliveroo and giving out hand-jobs for tea money.

They've been calling for points deductions and expulsions for years, it won't happen because they think it'd be unfair on the vast majority of fans.

Why don't you visit you tube and type Celtic Australia, Celtic USA, Celtic Singapore, Celtic Japan, in fact Celtic anywhere you like

And that's without touching Scotland and Ireland.

They are huge, and only a poor league in a small, sparsely populated country prevents them from being what they could be

Don`t subscibe to any pay to view t.v. does anyone know if Champions Lg highlights are on any freeview.

Very big fish in a very small pond with no predators, suddenly don't look so big when put in a lake with predators.

You're going to the wrong places on holiday then!
In all seriousness, I'm not sure what that really means, I doubt it would particularly appeal to investors.

Again, what do attendances really count for? Man Utd are England's best supported club, and tickets aren't cheap: despite this match day income generally accounts for around 5% of their income overall. An attendance from 1970 is pretty meaningless.

As for Ireland, even if every man, woman and child supported Celtic (they don't), it would pale in significance compared to the overseas support the top 6 English teams benefit from in China, the Middle East and North America.

If Celtic or Rangers were as big as some people on this thread seem to think, it would be evident in their commercial income. However, it isn't: Celtic's commercial revenue is on par with Brighton and Hove Albion's - and don't forget, this isn't anything to do with TV money, this is just merchandising and sponsorship. A real big club, like Man Utd, Barcelona or Real Madrid make 10x that.

I literally just searched Celtic Australia, Singapore and USA in YouTube's search engine and nothing relevant comes up. 🤣

No such thing as a tea incentivised free hand job in Paisley btw (last I heard). Tips only.

Thought the same when I saw Cameron Carter Vickers lumbering about v Real Madrid

Exactly right
If ten clubs are investing half a billion pounds into the team every year or two, they can't all win.

The point is Celtic and Rangers would take a Premier League place as a permanent fixture eventually, and Brighton, Leicester, Brentford, Southampton, Leeds, and a few others would not be able to compete with them

Based on what?

The only advantage they have is attendances, which count for very little.
