This was their line up in their last match against Brentford. Only Charlton have conceded fewer goals than them, so I expect them to be strong defensively. They must be doing something right going forward as well though, who are their main threats?

Agyemang is one of those players that always scores against us.

Where's Slew?

The league table makes it clear that we have a better team than them. We are at home in front of maybe 25,000. For Heaven's sake let's just show a bit of pride and some balls. Stop cowering in a corner, afraid of the shadow of Mighty Stevenage, and start supporting our own team.

One thought; One aim; One desire.

The Blades are Going UP!!!!

They could have conceded two more as Brentford missed two pens.
I hope the officials are aware as they are a big direct side we could be in for a penalty shout of our own.The big home crowd should keep those officials on their toes.

We have a great chance, and I have high hopes of celebrating my second promotion in Sheffield on Saturday.

Is there anything wrong in discussing how our opposition plays though?

a mate who went to our away defeat at Stevenage was saying that their players had high fitness levels

is that allowing for the wank linesmen we get nearly every game

Swannee or Championship?

Apart from their freak 6-0 at Yeovil, their away form hasn't been anything to shout about this year and as with a lot of our home games this season, it'll be all about getting the 1st goal. Obviously a lot will depend on what's happened at Brentford and if Wendy don't win it'll be a massive boost for the crowd as much as anything. If they win then it'll be nothing but nerves for us and a different ball game.

The striker situation is worrying though to say the least when we're looking at a player who has played a bit part all season, another with an injured shoulder, a player who seems to be a shadow of his former self and a kid who's played about 3 hours of 1st team football.

And when we still do it despite this then that really will be worth celebrating

Interesting thread Bergs. I personally am a bit nervous. I agree with Pinchy that we have proved ourselves a better team in the long run this season, but feel they may pull off a 'shock'.

I was at their ground earlier this season when they beat us. They were the better team and got it tactically spot on. They are a psyichal, fit and hard working side. They are well organised and tough to break down. In that game, they completely outplayed us. They gave Evans and Cresswell no time or space, they overan Monty and Doyle in the middle and they kept a high line and pressed us all over the pitch. Their constant pressure and not giving us any time or space worked. I have noticed that when teams do not allow Collins or Maguire time on the ball we struggle. Particularly if teams pack out the midfield. MK Dons this really well last week. They limited the opportunities for SS to roll the ball out, did not let us build from the back, hassled and harried and chased us down. They gave K Mac and Doyle no time or space. It worked. My concern is that Stevenage might do the same. I am not sure what their new manager is like, but presume they play a similar game as under Westley.

As Jim points out, their away form is not great. This could be a factor. However, will our home support be good for us? If Wednesday win, we'll have a big nervous crowd. This has not helped the team in recent weeks. I dread to think what would happen if Stevenage scored and the longer we go without a goal could see tensions rise. I do not predict there being many goals and hence we need to patient. Will the Bramall Lane crowd allow this? Of course if Wednesday do not win then that is a different story. The pressure is off and we can relax and let our football do the talking. But I expect the Pigs to beat Brentford.

I really hope that the hang over from last week will be gone by Saturday. But this worries me. We were awful last week. Suddenly we look toothless and we're looking for midfielders and defenders to step up and score. Wednesday have smelt blood and Stevenage may do so too. There are a lot of doommoongers and Ched supporters, which could make the atmosphere a difficult one. I can see in house fighting and nerves transferring to the pitch. I really hope that we can remain calm and patient and dispatch Stevenage. I think it is important the crowd really gets behind the team and makes it one of those memorable Bramall Lane evenings!

bl**dy hell.. didn't realise they had so many household names.. messi, xavi, iniesta.. oops wrong page.. you said it yourself Olle.. 'when they beat us and we had monty and doyle in midfield'.. we're a different propostion with KMac and a fully firing Willo. i rest my case

Apart from Agyemang I honestly have no idea who any of those players are.

A lot of people are poo poo-ing Stevenage, but I only hope Wilson and the players do not. They might not have household names, but they beat us and Charlton and hammered Wednesday. They might have been non league a few years ago, but they outplayed Spurs earlier this season. They are chasing the play offs and will give us a good game.

Now United are at home and Stevenage's away record is not great. We're obviously better (we're 2nd and they are 6th) and if we play to the best of our ability, then we will win.

However, I do not view this as a straight forward win. If I was Gary Smith I would set out to frustrate us. If he sees that Wednesday have won, then he may use this. Press hard, give them no time and space, stay disciplined and do not concede. If we do not score early the crowd could get nervous and the players may panic. This could make it a rocky ride.

I really hope that Brentford do us a favour and if not, that we can score early on.

Michael Bostwick is apparantly wanted by quite a few Championship clubs, and a rumour has suggested a deal with West Ham has already been agreed. The right back is on loan from Nottingham Forest and Stevenage fans are very impressed with him. Ashton seems to be a Shaun Murphy type of player. Wilson is quick and energetic and may play wide right with Byrom, a poor man's Kevin McDonald, coming into central midfield.

Hi guys, happy to put in my view if anyone is interested. FWIW I think 29k of blades away from home will be a little too much for the Boro and am hoping for a draw. As 4 Points will see us prevail in to the play-offs.

Player Watch
Michael BostwickCM - Our best player by a long way and very strong in the middle. Scores a lot of goal from outside of the area (8) - Rumour - Done deal to West ham at the close of the season

Luke Freeman RM- New signing since we played you last from Arsenal reserves - tricky quality player down the left wing and wins a lot of free kicks as many cannot live with his trickery. Scored 7 goals from the left wing both right and left footed player.

Pat Agymang CF - Appalling first few games and looked well off the mark. last 3 outing have seen him MOM, not necessarily for his scoring boots but great hold up play. Will return back to QPR

John Mousinho CM -5 month injury has seen John return in the last few games. Again key to the midfield but will he play a part - Rumour - Off to Preston to re-join Westley

Mark Roberts CB - Captain Fantastic, rock of the defence alongside Jon Ashton, big string physical and a true leader. Shipped in with 7 goals himself.

Finally Lawrie Wilson and Scott laird, the latter rumour to be going to Millwall are two wing backs with exceptional pace but awful crossing. Both have shipped 6 & 8 goals respectively.

The key stat I am interested in is that we are ranked 2nd in the league against the top half of the table and that we havn't lost when we have scored first in 2 and a half years.

Good luck outside of this game

Heart = 1-1, head = 0-2, but a lot will depend on results elsewhere.

Freeman may well be capable of causing problems for Matt Lowton, but it's worth bearing in mind that key to Tranmere's recent success at Bramall Lane was putting a left back at left midfield. His hard work and pressing seemed to stop Lowton's forward runs, and Hoskins also never got going. If Stevenage play an out and out winger down the left, it may see Lowton and Williamson causing a lot of problems for their left back.

Cheers Dants - what of Slew Dog?

Wish you no luck at all Satdi but good luck in play offs

BTW Agyemang ALWAYS scores against us

Jim - we have come from behind to win 5 times at home this term I think, but know what you mean about first goal being vital on Saturday. Not sure we have many goals in us for the obvious reasons you state.

Yep, those wins have mainly come this year, we were more clinical in the 1st half of the season at home having gone in front. The clean sheets have dried up recently so we may need 2 or 3 on Saturday but I just think the 1st goal may settle us down and if we go behind, whilst it hasn't been a problem recently, circumstances may make it a lot harder. We've also struggled most at home when teams have come at us and there's no reason to believe Stevenage will sit back.

Bizarrely, a Brentford win could put pressure on them to get a result, a Wendy win and good results elsewhere and they may not need to be as adventurous.
