Outgoing? SANDER BERGE ON WAY OUT ?

I'm really not sure a like-for-like replacement would be sought - Khadra, McAtee and Ndiaye can all play #10 - I'd have thought any proceed given to PH would be better directed to recruiting another goalscorer and CM. If the recruitment team is doing their jobs, they'll have options lined up that should be able to executed at relatively short notice
Exactly.

Have to say I am absolutely loving the lack of rumours - hasn’t been a shitty cryptic twitter post or owt for days now… too late to sell now isn’t it Prince?

Respect to Sander for dropping a solid 4/10 last night this close to end of the window. My Norwegian dreamboat. ❤️

Thats what I was thinking watching last nights match.

He was so poor misplacing passes but the more worrying thing is the lack of physicality,
He's built like a man mountain but even little Luke Freeman muscled him off the ball knocking him into the stand.
Also although Berge show massive promise in home matches he too often goes missing in away games.

Based on last night....we won't be receiving any bids over £10 million for him in this transfer window.

I’m a big fan and really don’t want him to leave.

PH did us a big favour playing him deep in the first half to allow Sander to not display his true ability.

Sander was neshing a decent number of challenges as the window remains open!!

Get staying lad!!

Assuming Doyle wasn't fit enough to start, so Berge had to play deeper again last night anyway.

He wasn't his best, didn't wow scouts - love it.

Window so close to closing....

We drew last night so he's shit again
Brief summary for anyone just joining the thread since we won and he was Diego Cruyff

I'll update accordingly his transfer value which has fallen from 35 million to 10 overnight

No one’s said he’s shit. I think the absolute opposite. I was just making light of his below par performance last night.

In some tight situations Berge's size is a real disadvantage. Freeman has quick feet and a low centre of gravity. It may look odd, but it's often like that.

Agree....I've criticised Berge for his display against Luton but he's still one of my favourite players.
Also bear in mind he was playing as a defensive midfielder against Luton when he struggled, he's better playing more advanced.

We were talking at the match last week about Berge unique smooth running style.

It's like an optical illusion.
When dribbling past players, Berge looks like he's barely jogging, where the opposition players look like they are sprinting as fast as they can.
When Berge runs with the ball he seems to effortlessly "glide" past players.

Yep, some years ago, I was out jogging with my lad, he kept steaming ahead, and then slowing down to wait for me. I said "no need to show off pal, you are faster than me, but no need to run fast", and he said "Dad, I'm not running fast", and when I watched him, he was right, his stride length made it easy for him to cover distance, with pace, with no real effort.

I'm 6ft 2, my lad is 6ft 4, but his stride length, compared to mine, was huge. Same with Sander.

Nobody else was playing really well. He never plays well if others don’t do so.

According to some papers today, expecting Liverpool to make a late offer for berge

If you Google Sander Berge today, and click for news, lots of outlets speculating Liverpool may make a move for him this next week (as somebody has pointed out above).

Whilst I'm a big fan, my biggest worry wouldn't be him going it's what happens with the fee.

Be careful with talk like that, you’ll by making a few cry around here. 😂

This is typical Football Gods being wankers.

Hopefully he doesn’t.

This would be the typical drops points to Reading scenario after a disruptive late withdrawal.

Not to mention the potential ‘just beats the deadline’ type move, giving us no chance to replace.

I’ve been glued to Transfermarkt and the options are very few in the free agent post window bucket. Former Celtic and one time Blades linked Tom Rogic probably best fit. Then you’re onto known names that won’t blow you over at all - Tom Carroll (last Ipswich), Fabian Delph (Everton/Sickbay Utd), Danny Drinkwater (last seen Reading), Leandro Bacuna (Cardiff), Lukas Rupp (Norwich), Dale Stephens (Burnley), Jacob Davenport (Blackburn, started just 2x for them last season), Aaron Lennon (Burnley, 35 now), Scott Sinclair (Preston), Robert Snodgrass (Luton). The only foreigner that seems realistic is the Dutch guy Pelle Van Amersfoort.

If we had a day before the window going in for Callum O’Hare would be a good, decisive move. Different stature but similar assist and goal output I reckon. Also not against Cameron Branaghan, he was on my list in the summer, has made a good start and could be due to step up.

Fingers crossed we don’t end up looking.

Josh Onomah would be the one

Or Bowler if we were to replace with a more out and out wide attacker

Or Chong to be a bit of a combination of both?

The worry for me with Liverpool is that if it all goes tits up in their quest for a Middie they will settle for Berge. A bit like the Ben Davies scenario when they wanted a defender.

Berge could become their new Jan Molby.
All we can ask of our board is that they hold out for the full £35m and a sell on.
The deal has to be concluded by Tuesday evening to enable him to play against Reading ( that will be a clear indicator ) and we must be given £5m - £10m of the money to sign a replacement. Must remember that a great proportion of the incoming fee is required for general housekeeping.
