Hecky Out

Have faith Blades, it’s a new season and we’ve lost 2 away games, both to clubs who will be automatic promotion contenders, one in the mickey mouse cup

if we are 5 away games into the season and we’ve lost em all, that’s when i’ll start to worry

I personally think we’ll be ok, this season 5 subs and a myriad of forward options will spark things into life away from home, snatching draws/wins out of seemingly nowhere.

Some reyt overreacting on here we lost 1 nil to a championship side expected to be top 2 or play offs at least,if it was the fa cup then fair enough but its the shittest cup we was in

Everyone's out. What was it? 11 championship sides knocked out by sides from a lower league. Perhaps it indicates that clubs have their eyes on the bigger prize. Rightly so. Leave the caravan Cup to the likes of the scouse jockeys to squabble over.
Plus the prize money is hardly worth getting out of bed for.

I'm Confused.

Hecky's been told there is no more money, even by his own admission he still needs a couple more (I thought they said he would have money to spend, and I thought by that £10 or £12m) Since being manager hecky has bought two players both low budget, the rest have been bargain basement or loans.

Shouldn't we be blaming HRH, even if he sold the club for £50m he would still come in with a hansome profit.

What's that got to do with not attacking away from home?

That's the issue. Its not whether we're out of the cup or not or whether we need the fixture pile-up, it extends a lot further back and needs addressing. I was looking forward to watching us on Sunday but I'll be watching hoping we just don't lose. That's not the attitude to have at all but it's how it's become.

And as a poster mentions above, we've played a new system with new players. Yet just the other day he told us he didn't bring McAtee on with 10 minutes to go because he didn't know how we played off the ball. Does that make any sense? He's basically hung him out to dry there.
If I may make a suggestion?

There's two things that Hecky wants:
1) To get some players up to match fitness
2) To get them to play in our system

Perhaps they think they can get them to adapt during training, but they need an actual match to get their fitness levels up, so it might have been better for them to play in a system they knew and were comfortable with - just to get that match competitiveness - and then get their positions right in training.
It didn't make sense to bring them on in a League game, but in a Cup match that they were prepared to lose, it didn't really matter what system was played, it was just a case of playing them in a proper match.

Controversial, but I think we should actually play a few more away games this season before we draw any conclusions.

I really couldn't care less about an EFL cup tie in which some youngsters and newbies were blooded, and we tried a different formation.

Far more interested to see how we approach Boro on Sunday.

Shoes Off. Burning my season ticket as we speak. Sack them all. Not good enough. We should be winning these type of games 9:0.

You Joke but that was pretty much our first team who got a slapping by West Brom U23

PEP Heckiola away day masterclass once again

Just to play devils advocate, we have also beaten two Premier League sides in Fulham and Forest away under Heckingbottom and took a point against the play off finalist. You could also spin it that we've won 2 of the last 3 away games in the league.

I do get the concerns though and it will become a real talking point if we meekly lose the next couple of away games. I can't comment on tonight and I don't think much, if anything, should be read into the result/performance but there is no doubt we have had 4 or 5 total no shows away from home under Heckingbottom since New Year. Serious questions will start being asked if we have another 2 or 3 before the break.
The Fulham away was a smash n grab a hard working performance nothing else except the Goal of shear quality .It was no different to our losses at Home to Birmingham Huddersfield and Blackpool three smash n grabs. Have to say that having gone to all away games last season ( except QPR) other than Forest I cant say that was a good performance, maybe a couple of adequate ones.
Strange that the away performances improved for those last three games QPR Bristol City Forest -when a more attacking front foot aggressive approach was drastically needed if we were to get to the play offs and as it turned trying to get a play off final spot.

This is what worries me about Hecky is he over analysing our opponents for the away games instead of focusing on our strengths

I'm not calling for the managers head by the way. But unless the away attitude changes we cannot go up. Even with 23 home wins.
Of course we would. 23 home wins = 69 points.

Average points required for 2nd place = 88. Are you saying we can't find 19 points on the road? 6 wins? Or 3 wins and 10 draws.

Last season Hecky took 22points from 13 away games (5 wins & 4 draws)

Anyone judging our chances on last night's performance needs to see a therapist. We made 5 changes, had u23's playing and new players who were just getting game time to prepare for the league. It was a glorified pre season friendly

I'm not doing that again. £120 quid for 30 minutes to be told I had "mommy issues".

We aren't going to win 23 home games though are we.

Every year the season resets and a manager is then judged on that seasons performance.

So far we have played 3 lost 2 and won 1 all we know is that we are better than Millwall and worse than West Brom & Watford.

We will have a clearer picture after 10-15 but I don’t think we will be fighting for top 2.

IMO possibly 6th.

I've not seen it tonight, or listened to it. But it's the cup with half a first team. It's not a big deal. What is a big deal is the lack of competition for Fleck, that needs addressing before the window closes.
Yep and Osborne now injured

Carabao Cup is a dogshit tournament and is only there to give fringe players a run out. It needs either binning off entirely or repurposing in some way. I don't care either way about that game in isolation but its the common trend of "Sheffield United 0" when we're playing away from home which has already occurred twice already.

Games where it's imperative that we win or there are some bragging rights at stake (like on Sunday vs Wilder) are a bit different but it's how we go at somewhere like Coventry or Luton for example and if we actually go to these places and actively try to win or turn up and hope to win through some stroke of luck which is how it seems to have been for quite some time.

I'm always quite interested in what non-Blades fans think when they see us play on and the common thing I've heard is "you never look like scoring."

I don't want to ruin this thread by posting facts but Hecky's recond last season was 18 points from 12 away games. 5 wins, 3 draws and 4 defeats.

Pretty much promotion form if you are decent at home.

How very dare you, that’s outrageous, bringing facts to a hatchet thread like this…

I’m outraged
