As the Championship season kicks off tomorrow, now seems a decent moment to assess who's a good pre-season in the transfer market.

The link below is Sky's summary of all Championship transfers. Who's strengthened and who's not? And more to the point, who's had a better recruitment drive than the Blades?

My view, having scanned it, is that Stoke seemed to have brought in some decent players and might be that team that gets it's shit together this year.

I still think we are one attacker short from the perfect window. We could do with 6 players for the top three positions on the pitch, Brewster, Sharp, Ndiaye, Berge, Khadra and one more. Just thinking over a full season with injuries and 5 subs it’s gonna be important.

If I was super greedy I’d be in for another central midfielder too but that’s assuming Coulibaly doesn’t step up. If he does, we’re fine there with Norwood, Doyle, Fleck, Coulibaly and Arblaster getting minutes as and when.

Defence is as strong as it has been in a long time. Defences win you titles.

Got to be happy with the squad overall. So I’d say us.

We live in a world where an Irish defender called Nathan Collins moves between Burnley and Wolves for over £20m. Burnley have done well tbh, shed some huge earners. Blackburn has shit the bed in all honesty
Hull could go one of two ways and I don't even think they know which way
Norwich are being surprisingly Norwich about things
Preston have been very shrewd, although Woodburn?

Sorry what did I just read??? Sunderland spent £10m???? on a single player??

Stoke fans seem to totally disagree with your prediction ,I will go for Luton Town getting top 4/5

Hull have recruited a lot of foreign players might work might not.
Stoke have recruited to the spine of their team and could do ok.
West Brom have done ok and will be stronger this season.
I think we have done as good as any team and better than most this window it could be an interesting season any two of the teams dropping down will always be in the mix i just can't see it being Norwich this time. All to play for and I'm looking forwards to it.
My top 6 United, Burnley, Watford, Boro, West Brom & Stoke but never discount Millwall sneaking in.

I've seen that figure a couple of times now. Spurs signed him for £10 m in 2019, since which time he's been he's played 20 championship games and 17 League 1 games. I can't believe he's gone their for £10m

Cardiff and Stoke seemed to have signed everybody. Not much sparkling in the rest of the league apart from Kal Naismith to Bristol City.

Hopefully Wilder is as hit and miss at Boro as he was here.

People keep repeating that figure but wasn't it just because the article with the transfer was written in a stupid way that made it sound like £10 million when they were just referring to his Spurs transfer?

I'm guessing he cost more like 2 with lots of add ons if they get promoted etc.

West brom have signed 2 of the most proven creators in the division but I can't look past steve Bruce not getting it together. That and they don't have an out and out striker to be at the top.

They have both Karlan Grant and Daryl Dike a couple of outstanding championship strikers

(I think Grant plays off the right for WBA currently though)

Hull might have had a great window. They've signed some interesting players from abroad. Will be intrigued to see how they adapt.

West Brom signed two players that I really wanted us to go for, Jed Wallace & John Swift on free transfers. Swift in particular would have been great for us. Not sure why we didn't compete.

I think Millwall & Luton have strengthened and will be around that 6-10th area.

I think our window has been pretty good. But we've lost MGW and haven't brought in a forward.
I don't particularly rate the Ciaran Clark signing and would have preferred if we'd gone for Harry Darling who ended up at Swansea.
But other than that, Anel should improve us, Doyle could be what we've been missing in the middle of the park and Khadra is an exciting option to have in the pack. I think we'll be there or thereabouts for the top 6.

Middlesbrough are probably the ones to watch at the back end of this window. Wilder's desperate for a striker or two and he has a lot of cash to play with after selling Spence and Tavernier (which I don't think weakens them massively).
Hopefully he gets his big money striker signings all wrong like he did here.

Still think we’re missing another striker, Billy and Brewster are always going to pick up injuries, and McBurnie can’t be relied on.

Anel is the future

Shit players like Carl Cort were sold for £7m 22 years ago. I am not sure why these figures, which are rounding errors for the enormous clubs, come as a surprise to anyone

Amongst top tier clubs I agree, But £10m on a single player by a newly promoted club to the 2nd tier??

True although worth mentioning Ndiaye scored 7 last season.

We should be getting goals from midfield too.

Maybe it's intentionally done but you forgot McBurnie.

I know he's done his best to help by having two forgettable years but at 20m you'd hope he could at least rise to the role of 6th choice forward.

To rob one of my earlier crap dad jokes there are 40,000 reasons (punds per week) why we didnt compete for him. Oh and he did have quite a bad injury not sooo very long ago. Good player though!

Let`s hope Wilder comes in for McBurnie.

Defences win you titles ? did you see us against Non league Scunthorpe (conceded 3), League2 Mansfield (conceded 3) League 1 Barnsley (conceded 2) ? Maybe we can avoid relegation ? ;)

That Hull striker is on fire. Shame we don't have one like that.
