Can see him starting for Wolves, they struggled to score goals last season and Morgan is starting in pre season and created one of the goals tonight.
Looks as though he's about to drop a music video out anytime as well.
Come back if stay up…Can you explain the mercenaries angle beyond lingard? We've had to sign players to cover the loans going back. Samba left so we needed a keeper. What player would meet your approval as a non mercenary? Lowe for 5m?
He would have been a decent signing for us. But far sooner than Wilder was looking at him. Those taking the piss out of the Lingard signing are probably the ones advocating him as a signing for us in the relegation season. He’s an expensive but good signing for them. Hope he makes them bankrupt.
Jesse Lingard "The decision" doesn't quite have the pull of the LeBron James one you reference. It's kind of been happening for years but reckon this is a bit of a watershed moment. With the influence of agents and astronomical transfer fees, if you have 1 year left you would need a compelling reason to stay somewhere otherwise as you say, make the perceived market value for yourself. Its starting to feel a little bit american.
I remember some basketballer shooting 'reveal'videos for about 5 teams and then the real one was shown after a 2 hour live TV special. Feels like that's not too far away.
But I do see your point, it can be a risky strategy however, referencing back into NBA, the other year a player declined a 21 million multi year extension in the hope of getting more on the open free agency market, he ended up with the minimum (10x less) and is likely to get that or no offers every contract expiry now unless he does something spectacular. I can see the same occuring in football to some if this carries onJesse Lingard "The decision" doesn't quite have the pull of the LeBron James one you reference.

I still fail to see how 5m in wages (c100k per week) plus say a ludicrous signing on fee of 5m making it a round 10m is any worse than paying a club in the same league £32m for MGW who you might pay 2m a year in wages on. I do get the resale value point though
Let me remind you of your cash up front purchases for mcburnie and brewster. That is more dead money than forest will spend on lingard easily.
It’s probably a good time to take a gamble. As you say, Fulham and Bournemouth look like they’re taking a prudent approach and would probably grudgingly accept relegation. Brentford with Eriksen are a bit of an unknown quantity and could suffer a drop in form. Leeds might also struggle. I’m not convinced with Southampton either, very poor again at the end of the season.End of the day it depends how he does.
We probably spent 30m in fees and 55k per week in wages for McBurnie and Mousset for the 2 PL seasons. A grand total of 35,7m. Even though these are ‘bad’ buys with no resale, you could still easily make a case that having the second year in the PL makes it justifiable. Even more so if McBurnie were to get up off his death bed and fire a few goals in to help us to promotion. It then depends what happens next. He pisses off to Rangers for nothing. If we went up we might be able to take both Kent and Morelos from Rangers for no fee. Losing McBurnie and getting those two with no fee in or out apart from a signing on fee might look like a steal!
It looks like shit business now because the resale is zero or going to be by the end of the season but easy to make some justification if it gives you a second year. It just so happens we didn’t buy well enough to get a third.
But 200k per week for a year is 10.4m. Even if they paid him a 20m signing on fee, if they stayed up they’d be happy.
It’s if they don’t. That’s 30m gone, no return and still relegated. You could do a lot with training, academy stuff etc with that as we well know.
It’s interesting they both Bournemouth and Fulham have spent nothing. Bournemouth have a couple of modest frees though hopefully they will also be able to boast Schoolboy Looks. Fulham signed Paulinha from Sporting and Pereira from Man U, 26m for the pair but sold Anguissa and Carvalho for the best part of 19m.
It will be interesting. Maybe this is Fulham learning their lesson or maybe they will just go late when the others have done their business.
Whist doing a Fulham became a by-phrase for spending a lot and bringing too many, it will be interesting how Forest do with so many new This is the boom or bust downside to borrowing half your team. In acquiring Henderson, Williams, Richards, O’Brien, Lingard and Awoniyi, they have only in fact managed to replace Samba, Spence, Lowe, Garner, Zinkernagal and Davis. Time will tell if they are all upgrades or not. Cooper is a good manager and I have no axe to grind with him. It’s not easy to forge a team with so many new faces though so it will be interesting to see how he goes about it.

That gives a club a fair chance of staying up, as you’d expect at least a couple of those to go down. There’s usually some team you don’t expect to be down there too. A motivated Lingard, if he stays fit, might just be the difference.
But Forest need to hit the ground running and get points on the board. That will take the pressure off and they can play with confidence, catch a few teams out who turn up thinking they’ll get an easy win. A bad start could cause problems, with team spirit, confidence and mentality.
That’s the beauty of football. It’s difficult to predict. It could pan out very differently, maybe Fulham and others get off to a good start and surprise people, maybe some club goes full mental jacket, sacks a decent manager and gets into a relegation battle.
With Forest, all they really have to worry about, if they go down, is meeting FFP requirements. Their owner seems to have too much money to really care about losing a bit, it appears to be a gamble he can easily afford. So, why not?
They signed Tarkowski. It’s an area that needed strengthening because their defence was awful when Mina was missing. I’m sure they’ll bring others in before the window shuts. It’s going to be an interesting season for them though.Everton have lost Richarlison and not brought anybody in. They don't have a great manager. I think they could also really struggle again.
Slav had no control at all over the players brought into FulhamSlav spunked £100 million when he took Fulham up, only for them to come straight back down again.
We crucified Chris Wilder for spending far less over 2 years.
And took to Slav as the new saviour. - briefly.
Funny old game.

Heard from someone who works with Maguires dad that he wanted to stay closer to Manchester for his kid. If this is true then it shows how the media have made this move look like itwas about money when it was quite the opposite (didnt he turn newcastle down in January too? ££)Madness to move to forest instead of going back to west ham where to be honest he had his only consistent good spell of his career.
He’s a millionaire many times over he’s not going to notice and extra 50k a week to sign for forest, he’s nearly 30 and has pissed away most of his career on the bench being a bit part player instead of making a top flight move 2/3 seasons ago.
He Could have been playing European football for a seemingly decently run (recently at least) West Ham.
Good move for forest though - one year contract doesn’t tie them in to anything too ridiculous
So why did he turn down Everton then?Heard from someone who works with Maguires dad that he wanted to stay closer to Manchester for his kid. Playing time maybe? I have no idea just passing on what I’d been told.So why did he turn down Everton then?couldn't be any closer to Manchester and a bigger club than scabs.
It'll be 300k a week before the day is out.Lingard is supposedly on £250k per week and Henderson on £150k, so thats well over £12M on 2 players for one season just in wages. And they still haven't addressed their awfully slow central defence which I think will get caught out quite a bit at that level.
It's also a huge step up to manage the big egos as wilder found out.
Cooper has got a lot on.
