The EFL Profit and Sustainability rules even make bankrolling a club a massive risk.
If we overspend (basically cheat) then we need to gain instant promotion to the PL.

If we fail to gain promotion then we will face EFL sanctions for effectively trying to cheat other clubs....leading to a large points deduction.

A think back a few year when we were trying to sign Martin Waghorn from Ipswich.
Wasn't the rumour that Ipswich accepted our offer and the player was happy with our offer of £10K a week wages.

He was due to join us....next we hear that Derby County have matched our offer to Ipswich and offered Waghorn £20K a week wages.
Their policy of being over ambitious and gambling beating the competition when chasing potential signings has ended up almost destroying that club.

Oh I agree - i don’t think we should be spending money we can’t find and I’m happy if we wait to do the deal once the terms are right.

I think we could probably spend a little more given the tv money we are still getting but we may as well be sensible with it. The wage bill will be higher than it was a few years ago.

Still would be nice to have a few more on board though!

Sounds like the other player is another attacking / creative type.
Not in for a striker (which I think is daft).

Considering our limited budget I don't think it's too daft.

Looking at the players we have and the ones we are being linked with, it's looking increasing likely that we will continue with two attacking midfielders behind one striker.

We already have Ndiaye, Berge and Doyle for the attacking midfielder postions and are apparently linked with 2 more (Khadre plus one other apparently).

That means for a single striker position we have Sharp, Brewster, Ndiaye, Mcburnie, Jebbinson, Osula.

In an ideal world the last two would go out on loan, Mcburnie would be sold for scrap and we'd bring Davies in but I think we'll see maybe one of the two youngsters out with the other staying on as backup.

I feel like our strikeforce is likely to rely heavily on hoping Sharp and Brewster don't get injured.

NH suggests we're in for 2 x no. 10s. One of which is Khadra.
The other one, we're apparently in early stage talks (sounds like a loan).

He seems to suggest that's it, unless something really enticing pops up on the loan market at the end of the window a la MGW.
Or if our circumstances are impacted by injuries (setbacks for Sharp / McBurnie / Brewster).

I think we're going to trust Arblaster to cover Doyle and Norwood at the base of the midfield.
Fleck & Osborn to fight it out for the LCM.

He seemingly sees Khadra as competition for Ndiaye for that left side attacking role.
Now looking for some cover for Berge on the right.

Probably be Lolley

It would be odd to bring a loan in to cover Berge. To me, any loan should be coming in with a good chance of starting. That's why I wouldn't be shocked if the second 10 were to be a free signing - like Lolley.

Think an extra attacking mid makes sense, hopefully an athletic one to cover Berge if needed, I think we'll play with 1 striker far more often this season.

So far we're looking at.

Mid(2/3 places) - Norwood, Blaster, Doyle, Fleck, Osborn, Berge, Coulibaly, Bash, Anel,
Attacking Mid(1/2 places) - Berge, Ndiaye, Khadra?, Osborn
Striker(1/2 places) - Brewster, Sharp, Ndiaye, Jebbo, Osula, McBurnie

So the attacking mid does look the lightest right now as don't think we'd really want Osborn playing there
