What a match I remember away at Tranmere in the Div 4 season.

Fantstic following as usual. Police lady told me I had to go in a different turnstyle and meet my Dad inside. (Even though it was my Uncle!) Quite scary when you are 9.

We were behind twice, but both times came back level with Tony Kenworthy penalties. We also gave a penalty away, but it was saved by Keith Waugh, so their player decided to subsequently boot him in the stomach while he was down and got sent off!

Hopefully will be a bit more one sided this time, and we can shout Ronnie Ronnie whats the score again, like when we beat Rotherham 5-0. Always liked Ronnie Moore and he likes a bit of banter with the fans.

I have some dim memory of Tri Dellas scoring against them, but thats probably wrong.

I remember that game, though it was at Prenton Park. Steve Bruce was our manager and we were 2-0 down at half-time. I was there with Trig Jnr (TY) and told him not to worry, we'd score three in the second half. At the age of about 12, he was rightly sceptical, but miraculously, we won 3-2. Afterwards, Bruce was asked about his masterstroke of bringing Big Tri on as a substitute centre forward and Bruce was honest enough to say he had no idea what to do, so it was really desperation.

I nearly set Ronnie Moore on as a driver a couple of months ago ,I was approached by a colleague of his and he would have been filling the next vacancy I had. There are some legendary stories around about him ,I like him (for a scouser).

I seem to remember Nick Montgomery cracking in a 30 yarder against them, nah, probably wrong.

Yep, remember the 2-2 draw although Dazzler had to set me straight on a few things last time I mentioned it. Remember a 1-1 at their place as well under Kendall, think it was Don Hutchison's debut if memory serves.

I remember the first home game of the 1995-6 season, and number 2 in the run of 5 straight defeats to open the season. John Aldridge put on a striking masterclass and scored 2 quality goals and we lost 2-0. It was alarming in the way that the first games of last season were, in that we were a lot worse than people thought we would be, but Kendall saved us.

I was at Prenton Park in the 4th. A riot ensued around us and seats were ripped out and chucked about ala Leeds.

I seem to remember Waugh saving 2 pens that day, but I have had a few pints and sleeps since then.

Rumour has it that approach still stands for Steve Bruce - can't turn on a computer and doesn't really do tactics. Perfect Premier League manager then.

I remember watching the YTV highlights of the 3-3 draw in April 1998 and when the players were coming out of the tunnel I was surprised to see Simon Tracey (who returned to the 1st team because Alan Kelly got injured in the 4-2 home defeat against WBA) sporting two black eyes! I learned later that week that he got two black eyes from trying to help Billy Whitehurst into trying to sort out a brawl at the Cricketers pub after the WBA game!

It was Whitehurst who smacked Tracey over a card game in the Cricks

I remember driving to Prenton in 95 and on parking up being asked by a local urchin if I would like my car minded. 17 years later and I'm still friends with him . Love you Judge .

I had the pleasure of briefly meeting him when was Rotherham Manager, on a sunday night in Mason's at Wickersley, and to use the correct terminology, he was deemed to be in an advanced state of refreshment.

He also used to frequent the Gregg's just down the road from the Mason's after training.

Tomato soup and a sausage roll.

I was told different. What I was told that there was a nutter (who was often in and out of prison) who went berserk and started a brawl. Whitehurst, who was the landlord of the Cricketers at the time, tried to stop the brawl and Tracey tried to help Billy but the nutter gave Tracey two black eyes with a two fingered poke at the eyes

Took my eldest to his first game. It was against Tranmere at the lane in about 97. It was a boring 0-0 draw. He cannot remember it and I am not suprised.

Same here. We were outclassed and ended up with Rob Scott up front. I remember folk on the kop joking about how glad they were to have renewed that year...

Jeez memries - Mason's at Wickersley was a lunchtime pub when I was working at British Steel at Aldwarke in the late 80s/early 90s

I remember having tickets to go to Tranmere at at the last minute changed my mind and went to watch QPR play rotherham at Millmoor because I thought it would be my last chance to see Currie play properly. I regretted it once I was there and spent 90 mins listening to the radio ,I think we drew 2-2 don't know the year.

To be pedantic we weren't behind twice. We actually scored first and were dominating the game. Then Tranmere came back into it and levelled before half time. They continued to take the game to us in the second half and went 2-1 up. We equalised through a (second) Tony kenworthy penalty very late on. Then even later they got a penalty and it seemed we would lose. But Keith Waugh saved it. As you rightly say their penalty taker got sent off and then I seem to remember a lot of trouble starting in their main stand, seats being ripped up etc. A shame really because it had been a very entertaining game, and on balance a draw was probably a fair result.
