When are we going to stop playing flat 3? When are we going to learn that maybe it's time to try and steer towards 4 in defence? Either Anel and Egan or Anel and Clark or Clark and Egan?

When are we going to play to Berge's strengths and play him in a more attacking role?

When is Hecky going to stop making a living off of Wilder's system? We don't have any overlapping centre backs, the formation CLEARLY doesn't work anymore.

I don't care that it's a pre-season game. We lost 3-2 to Scunthorpe in Non League and got battered by Mansfield 3-0. This is not acceptable regardless of the circumstance.

Something has to change, fast.
I’m assuming that this post is just a wind up and as such I was trying hard not to bite… but I’m weak so I will.
Playing 3 at the back like we did last season is not ‘wilder’s system’ and it worked for the vast majority once Hecky came in.
We didn’t use overlapping centre backs, we used a formation which lots of teams use without the nuances and overloads which wilder introduced.
I would much rather us thrash everyone out of sight in pre season but even if we did, it would have zero bearing on the first games of the season as it’s all about getting players fit.
3 at the back gives us much solidity through the whole team, plus makes it easier to be fluid and changes things further up the pitch.
But then again, what the fuck do I know. Probably nob all.

I can remember one friendly when Warnock brought on Tony Daley, the clubs fitness coach, who wasn't even a registered player as he'd retired, and he scored!

If memory serves right it might have been a 4-3 win and I want to say it was against Matlock or some pub team in Devon. But who remembers pre-season matches anyway? 🤣

I can also remember Jon Harley scoring a wonder goal against Spurs in a pre-season friendly at the Lane in what then became one of the worst seasons I can remember at under Warnock. Mediocrity from start to finish and we ended the season with the fourth lowest points haul from January to the end of the season despite finishing 8th. But still, we beat Spurs in pre-season!

You, clearly

You know people called those having a mild moan about lack of transfers “Bedwetters”, they shot their loads way too early.

The result of a pre-season matters because? Oh thats right the victor came away with exactly the same points as the loser... zero!

To be fair, whilst 3 CBs is in our DNA, Anel and Clark are far more comfortable in a 2 than Bash or Robinson would ever be and so in that sense, Hecky has recruited well. It gives us options. 👍🏻

Sheffield United tweeting 3-0 loss raises eyebrows. Pre season friendlies that aren’t being played behind closed doors, there are fans that have paid money to go and watch. They would still be watching a 3-0 loss. People give a shit, people pay money to watch this club and have just got 2 losses in a row against non league and league two opposition. People care about this club and the way it’s heading, and they spend money in doing so
More fool them

Mad to think that 20 years nobody would have even known we were playing tonight until they saw the score in The Star the day after. Now we have people genuinely discussing where things went wrong. Bad for people this internet I tell thee
We just have got a heads up we are not on it at all. To not even look threatening against Mansfield has to get alarm bells ringing? Back relying on a fit Billy by the looks of it. But I am reliably informed it's only a friendly and doesn't matter. I think Scunny and Mansfield must have not got the memo about strolling about because it's warm...shame on them.

The main goal of a football match is to win.

Nope.

The main goal of a competitive football match is to win.

The main goal in a friendly could be to try new players, experiment with systems/shape or build fitness.

If we don’t win our next PRESEASON FRIENDLY we can forget about promotion!!!

*seriously though, the OP really does need to get a little perspective.

Did you witness any game between August and November 2021?
Yes mate and do you recall which defenders we had available at that time? And compare them to now? And which of those players have just signed from teams that played in a back 4 week in week out

So by signing those players, Hecky has the thought in his mind that he can now switch it up in games. See, you've answered your own question

One thing's for sure, we are all going to be killed.

We desperately need a powerful striker!

Where and how we can achieve this is a question I cannot answer 🤨

Leicester lost 4 nil to Notts County are they going down? Look at Liverpools pre seasons, they get battered. Calm down

But where has it happened? The best chance would be for him to test it during pre season. Haven’t seen it once

Seriously?
No point going a flat back 4 if we don't have wingers. If we get Khadra, maybe we'll see it.

Hang on, you have to play with wingers to play 4 at the back?

Where is that in the rulebook?

Perhaps when the window has closed and we have had 6/7 matches it would make more sense to comment on how we are set up.
Why can we not use a back 3 or 4 in different matches or at different times in matches ?
