He was nowhere near the best player in the league. He was miles behind MGW who could be argued was the best player in the league.

Just went full Roygbiv and had a look at the Blackburn forum.
Views on Khadra aren't overwhelmingly favourable. Quite a split.
Was injured a lot and his decision making is poor. Maybe he did just reserve his best for us and isn't the coup we all think he is.

Still, you'd hope that with better attacking players around him; Sharp, Ndiaye, Berge (maybe) etc. he'd maybe improve?
 
He's young, technique is very good, he'll only get better

Even when the end product isnt there he'll single handedly get teams on the back foot and be an outlet

You seem to completely overlook the fact that:

Tackling is an ability
Heading is an ability
Tracking back is an ability
Marking is an ability

I suspect the player with 20 odd caps for the 5th highest ranked national team in the world and who has just been signed by arguably the best manager in the world for £40 odd million and who played in the final of the Euros last year is better than you think.

But Berge played in the Champions League 3 years ago for a Belgium team and ripped it up against Peterborough so he's equally as good.

This is what I tried to get at by how the value of players doesn't move on an even sliding scale.

If you have a good Euros, in a good international side your price tag doubles. Whether you're only 10-20% better than another guy, if you do it on the biggest stage that's it.

Equally, these guys that have a big Champions League night against one of the best teams their value sky rockets. You have to show that you have that potential in your locker.
 
Also with Kalvin Phillips (clearly decent), he excelled under Bielsa's tactics/training. Guardiola's style of management is similar, so he'll be confident he can fulfill the exact role he's asked to fulfil when he plays at Man City

I get it, I get it you don’t like Berge.

So now you want to talk about tackling etc? Funny, because when I brought up that statistically Berge is has better tackling success, more goals, more assists, better passing accuracy, you disengaged and made a sarcastic straw man about Kane.

For the record, I don’t mind Phillips. He’s laughably overpriced, but that’s not his fault. I use Phillips as a counter factual for why Berge is worth at least his rumoured release of £35m, in a world where Phillips goes for £40m plus. Berge is the better player (in my opinion) and is younger, has better statistics and played at a higher level, but even given all of that, I’ll meet you halfway and say he could be valued at £10-15m less (on the basis of him being, erm English if I follow your logic). Which is still £30m plus.

Also, your continued narrative with regards to hid selection and playing for England, falls apart when you consider, say Haaland.

It also depends on where they play. If a EPL club is buy from another, and a player's contract isn't coming to an end, then they have to pay more to get them.

We're a club in the second year in the Championship. Berge, at a guess, would like to move to the EPL or Champions league in Europe. There's a world cup coming up. It's not like we pay huge wages to try and tempt him to stay for one more year. If a decent offer comes in and he makes it clear publicly he wants to leave, then it's very hard to stop him going. You can play hardball but the player can just down tools.

He's not shown any evidence to say he'd be a good player in the EPL. There's talent there, but he's 24 now.

MGW ripped up the league. Hendo ripped up the league. Spence ripped up the league. Johnson ripped up the league. Mitrovic ripped up the league. Berge was unplayable for less than half a dozen games.

And I'm really not convinced that Sander Berge really wants to play as an AMC in the long run.

Are you really trying to tell me that Sander Berge would make the England team? Because Haaland would. I don't understand why you keep bringing Haaland up? You seem to be saying that all Norwegian players are as good as English players.

I’ve brought Haaland up more than once? Yes, I believe Berge would be selected for the England squad, it’s not some mythical prize worthy only of the truly exceptional - see last half a dozen games for evidence. Didn’t Connor Gallagher start the 4-0 hammering by Hungary? Fabian Delph, Ross Barkley and Harry Winks we’re getting selected not so long ago…
