The problem comes when you have footage that appears to show a player stamping on a fan who’s laid on the ground. That is then beyond somebody doing something that is reasonable to defend themselves and would fall more within the realms of excessive force." A man who is attacked or believes that he is about to be attacked may use such force as is both necessary and reasonable in order to defend himself."
Thousands of opposition fans illegally encroaching onto the pitch, a player publicly stating they feared for their lives amid police indifference coupled with a violent assault on the skipper all seem valid reasons for believing you are also about to be attacked.
The club should just sack McBurnie and use his wages to pay someone who might actually make a decent contribution to the first team next season.
