Jayden Bogle

For people that are confused, Bogle plays as a RWB. The reson he hasn't been playing is because Baldock has been playing.

He was used today because we were desperate and down to 10 men, but he'll not start in a position he is unfamiliar with as his first PL start.

We know but we expected him to be on the bench for some matches.

I think Wilder doesn't bother because Baldock never comes off or gets injured. We only have so many spaces on the bench and I guess he feels Basham could cover at RWB if needed.

I mean... he could’ve been on the bench at least 😂 he’s an attacking influence, game changer

At the expense of a striker? Chris obviously thinks having an extra ST on the bench gives us more attacking options.

I'm also not convinced a Championship RB is an attacking Premier League game changer yet.

Extra strikers are no good if they don’t get any service. Which is what Bogle helps to provide.

And you can be unconvinced of whatever you like, but he changed the game today

Been saying for ages Bogle should at least be on the bench.

Even just as an option to take Baldock off after his 45th cross goes out for a throw in, goal kick or straight into the keepers arms.

Having 3 strikers on the bench is a bit ridiculous especially when most games they don't get any service anyway.

Brilliant player. Composure, skill, fast and clever. Maybe not 100% defender but IF we change formation had to be RM.

For a by default RWB he sure has some great attacking positional sense. When the balls on the opposite side he comes much more central around the box. Something we haven't had our wide players do enough of.

Impressed with him today. Thought he had a decent understanding of his position which clearly isnt his natural one. Also had a decent chemistry with George.

Not something I’d normally suggest but could he be a shout for the RCM position?

I know it’s out of position but he looks to have the athleticism and positiona sense to do it.

Only half an hour of evidence to go off I know.

Playing devil’s advocate here: Maybe the reason he hasn’t played, is because he’s been getting primed for the RCM role?
Let’s hope it was planned because I would hate to think Chris has lost it , some of the team selections this season suggest he draws squad numbers out of a hat , McBurnie and Sanders injuries might be a blessing as he is having to reshape and look at other players.

Agreed, wilder working hard to convert him into a midfielder, he’s only a young lad so got age on his side.

Really pleased for Bogle. Looked fast, strong and dangerous. Excellent debut, and really need to see more of him now.

Instead of interviewers asking pathetic questions to Wilder why don’t they ask him why this bloke hasn’t had one game before today, that’s one game, on the bench? A very good Prem debut.

One of our summer signings could actually feel like a new signing as we enter January. Genius from Wilder in holding him back until now ;)

Seriously though, he could be the answer to our midfield problems if yesterday is a sign of things to come. As S64 Blade says, I wouldn't be surprised if he has been learning a new role in training.

We'll see.

The clamour for him to be on the bench was because there was literally nothing else creative on there.

All we could do was chunk another striker on an hope to score a goal. Bogle might have at least been able to go past a man or look provide some attacking input.

that looked justified from what we saw today.

Maybe he is more a winger than a right back but I actually thought he defended well yesterday.

We actually have players to play with wingers now which we didn’t think we had, now has to be the time to change the formation from the start?

Agreed. Totally understandable that Bogle has had fewer minutes than, say, Max Lowe. Lowe had an absolutely gigantic opening to securing a role, while Bogle's favoured position of RWB has been blocked by one of our most consistent performers this year. But that said, for the past month or so, what Bogle brings as an option off the bench (based on what he showed at Derby) has IMO far outweighed the draw back of slightly less cover for all our positions. It didn't need to take this long for him to get a chance.

The next question is where does he start. In a flat three, our RCM spends a lot of time hanging about in wide positions. With two central midfielders and a ten, he'd be playing more narrow. The former suits Bogle, the latter doesn't as much. But the latter formation is where we all want Wilder to go and, given the subbing on of Burke for Fleck, where Wilder looks like going too.

Given the promise he showed, I'd be minded to give him a try at RCM. He'll be full of confidence after Brighton and that's half the battle with our players at the moment. As good as Everton are, he'd likely be coming up against Tom Davies on Boxing Day, so it's not exactly a baptism of fire for his first start. The real challenge will be Doucoure IMO. But to be honest, with Berge out for three months and Lundstram suspended, it's not like we have much choice anyway.

Bogle debut has given us fans abit of hope. its given the team a different option and definitely a player who is pacy and direct like Burke

Agreed, he has a chance to make an impact even if just because with no lundstram or berge and fleck out of form. There’s really no one else forcing the issue is there?

It may be that we are forced to go with 3 forwards (mcgoldrick playing deeper) given the lack of any other options. Which I am also ok with given how results have gone

I think what Saturday proved was that his pace and abilities are valuable to us as no one else has them really. I really have no idea which wa my wilder will go

He played against Burnley and looked dangerous against them.

Then disappeared completely.

Today he was great, not sure why he hasn't been picked.
Yeah we should have known it all along. If the kid can play at RWB he can certainly play on the right side of midfield.

You do know we can change shapes? 😂 you don’t have to permanently play 3-5-2
