Because they film everything now as though they’re directing, rather than policing the violence (I think)
Not sticking up for them but I think they do it for a number of reasons. Firstly if they wade into to grab someone and it kicks off into a bigger disorder that could be worse than what was already happening. Then if they make an arrest they lose officers taking them away and transporting them probably at least two for each body they grab. This would mean they run out of officers pretty damn quick at that rate. So what they seem to tend to do now is record the little darlings then give them a call at 6 one morning when they can control the arrest better. We’ve all seen the images in the papers looking at identifying them, indeed there’s some in the local rag recently here following the Leeds Manchester United game earlier in the season. I guess the video evidence is probably better at court than just “he did, I didn’t” argument between the cop and an accused in court. Not many seem to get off when they’re hauled up.
Like I say I’m not exactly condoning how they police these situations but there are reasons for it, doesn’t help much on the day though I would agree.

I was outside the Nelson. As usual SYP's finest were there but the numbers were a lot smaller than has previously been the case. Just one van at the top of the road where it merges with the Industry Inn road. Not sure why as the road leading from the Rutland is the main point of travel for away fans.

Rumours started coming in that Florist had been attacking families on the bottom road where the Industry pub is. Groups of Florist where going past Blades sat outside in the sun yet not one of the plod outside the Nelson moved across. They were fixated on Blades.

SYP's system now appears to be just follow groups of fans from behind with a few vans leaving a mob at the front free reign. Around 2.15 a large mob of Florist came up the road throwing bangers at Blades. Previous groups had already done the same yet SYP just stood there. A number of Blades reacted and moved across the car park causing the Plod to move at last and get their cameras out pointing them at Blades ignoring the fact a number of fireworks and other objects were being thrown from behind them. It suddenly kicks off outside the Industry and I understand peaceful Blades were attacked by the Florist wankers. Hard to see because a building was obscuring the view. A number of police vans appear, where were they before? One stays outside the Industry and 2 move up to block of the road leading from the Nelson as a growing number of angry Blades are trying to get at Florist.

Could it have been avoided of course it could. In years gone by SYP were all over the area but it seems now they have reduced numbers at potentially the biggest flash point pre game.

We all know what the outcome will be. Rather than police the area effectively the Landlord of the Nelson will have restrictions placed on him because they have video evidence of Blades moving across the car park. Industry Inn likely to be told to remove their outside seating for football matches.

Roberts the police liaison muppet will come on and blame it all on drink, 3 pm kick offs and recommend the area doesn't sell alcohol beforehand just to cover up SYP's incompetence again. SYP never at fault.

I get some of the reasons they're instructed to do it. My gripe is, and has been for years, they only seem interested in filming home fans.

Prime example yesterday. Totally ignoring Forest acting like cunts with their backs to them whilst purely focusing their cameras on United fans waiting for a reaction.

Easier targets to id local fans rather than away ones which is definitely not a valid reason

They grabbed one idiot out of that lot and bungled him into a van at Decathlon. There where half a dozen at minimum they could have taken. But as you say, too busy filming.

Fair play to spiderman, but he's probably ensured that seats will be netted off in H block for years to come

Ah , that must have been the gang I was stuck I the middle of. Kicked off 100 yard further back outside that little garage type bar. Very angry awful bunch.

Yeah that’ll be the same mob. It’ll be Sidney and Matilda’s you’re referring to. We were 100 yards or so up the road from that. Wankers the lot of em.

Sorry to derail the thread, but this made me laugh out loud. Why Steven Spielberg? Is he particularly notorious for "running around"? I'd have gone for Usain Bolt myself. 🤣
Could he be referring to cops with cameras?

Makes me laugh threads like this…

Pre-game: Why can’t we just sit next to away fans and have a line of stewards like Rangers V Celtic or like at Man City’s ground?? Fucking club/SAG this, Fucking club/SAG that….

Post-game: “haha did we see Spider-Man climb up the stand to get at away fans and punch a couple of ‘em?? Haha. Brilliant it wuh”

😂😂😂

Have you ever considered that it may be different people, with different options who post these seemingly contradictory viewpoints?

Yes Sydney and Matilda glasses, bottles, cans, general anger and a sign on song. Police simply monitor the Howard up to the Globe. This area towards the Nelson is left until the Nelson and Decathlon. With more bars popping up it's not hard is it. SYP yet again with no strategy at all, mob after mob for 5 mins paraded past Sydney and Matilda with largely families enjoying a drink, skirmishes and zero arrests. Lots of police running round like Steven Spielberg seems to be the new escorting method.
Forest more arrogant than ever, a few in the new Mexican /taco place giving the lip to families. A London final would have been carnage.
I walk down that road every match day, I’ve walked down with most away fans this season , they’ve have been noisey but none of them have shown any aggression, they all have a little chat then carry on but yesterday , the Forest fans , awful aggressive and angry, for some reason. Thought games and fans like this had mostly gone.

Two Q’s

1. Did anyone get a picture from South Stand of the family stand holding up red and white cards (want it for grandson)
2. Does anyone know why all the shutters were down int Family Stand ont catering and gift shop at 2:30pm? No one could get drinks or food.

An alarm went off which meant the turnstiles and kiosks were shut.

We stood outside for about 10 minutes waiting for the turnstiles to open whilst United and Forest fans abused each other.

Thanks for the photos of the red/white cards. In the top one I can make out my son and I next to Gangway G. Afterwards apart from one that sailed gracefully into the penalty box I must have witnessed the worst example of paper airplane making in my entire life ! In end people gave up and just scrunched them into balls and chucked them. The stewards were pelted with them at one point on Gangway G and to be fair they just chucked them back at whoever threw them.

Yeah they ran out of Hendo's Sausage Rolls. Had to shut to resupply.

Clearly not all Forest fans are scummy bastards, but they definitely have a higher proportion than most fanbases. If not the highest.

Lots of trouble before and after the game. Both sets of fans to blame. Having said that, I wouldn’t like to be an away fan coming out onto Bramall Lane after a game. Loads of ours waiting for them yesterday and the police just stood by as it all kicked off.

EDIT - not sure why the picture isn't embedding (maybe a size limit Foxy ?) but it opens by clicking the link anyway

It’s very lairy with an edge to it at FT. Norwich fans found that out once upon a time and won’t shurrup about it. Plenty of skirmishes on Saturday with a lot of Blades very organised. I was near the Cricks at FT and alot of Blades moving like a military operation down back streets to cut Forest fans off.

Was quite interesting see it all happen and kick off in places and police just stood about filming it all. Perhaps they’ll have facial recognition and just retro-ban people?

I spent yesterday at a wedding in Nottingham and the lot went up. Started with someone having a pop at me and ended in the fucking knuckle draggers battering each other.
