Jack Robinson

hindsight is always crystal clear 20/20 vision, but how can anyone explain Slav and his back 4, the rigid persistence, when the squad had been built around 3 AND the decision to sign Davies, albeit on loan, the defender the transfer team must have a dossier crammed full of info regarding him being previously Id'd as a perfect fit for a role in a back 3
There is the weakness of those dossiers, they cannot cover a players recent improvement. Probably shows an average LWB but omits the fact given an injury free consistent run, his natural position is LCB.

I know Billy gets an assist for Sanders goal, but it was created by quick thinking by Jack at the throwin, becoming a favourite of mine

I am all for players I have criticised in the past making me eat humble pie.

It usually means they are playing well and the team is playing well. Well done Jack keep up the good work.

I used to get the feeling whenever he was named in the line up that we were a goal down before a ball was kicked.

He's done a bit like Basham did with Wilder where he's carved a niche for himself, got an understanding with the players around him and is delivering something back to the team from previously being a bit of a nothing, "bits and pieces" sort of player.

Completely agree, mentioned it the other week, a run of games obviously makes a difference, but there is a bigger factor, and that's the guys around him are regular starters, Egan is a given but injuries/form have seen a number of players at Leftwing back, Left mid, RND seems to have nailed down his spot, Fleck is back to his old self, more time they spend playing together, better the understanding and confidence

Was just thinking this - the throw to Sharp gets better every time I see it. Got us from a throw in in our own half to Billy running towards their box in a second. Great option to have

Not been one to criticise Robinson too harshly as i've always thought what a tenacious player he is
This

Many threw him under the bus

Good player and is proving it

An apparent increased confidence has helped, coupled with an all round improvement from the whole team.
For a while it seemed that every mistake that he made seemed to be punished by us conceding. Some of the mistakes he made were terrible and should not really happen at this level but credit to him, despite all the negativity, he continued to give 100% every game.
He deserves all of the credit that he is receiving at the moment as he is performing at a consistently good level, particularly as he at times gets exposed by some of the poor positional play of RND and his apparent love for a rash/needless challenge.
At this time it would be foolish to not offer him new terms as he has been the best/most consistent defender over the last 10/15 games or so.

Agree with all entries giving him praise. Think last real mistake he made was the Wolves FA Cup game.

The man has superb character. Could easily throw his toys out the pram and sulked/snapped back at critics but got his head down, concentrated on his game and improved dramatically. A perfect example to other players.

Now to see McBurnie come on for the last ten mins, not fall over, not moan, not laugh, not walk about. All I ask is he comes on, looks bang up for it and cuts out all the nonsense! Stop pretending to be fouled because you simply don't want to actually challenge for the ball, have some pride man. Ah sh*t, it's become another McBurnie post. Well done Robbo!

Hold my hands up, I used to dread hearing he was in the team. Credit to him for getting it together and sticking at it. Hope he can keep it up

Maybe time to give him a song, show him some love after all the negative stuff on social media?
Sorry if he's got one. I can't always work out what people are singing if I don't know the song already

Always liked him, even when he was having a nightmare and looked like he'd won a raffle to play you could tell he cared and it was hurting him. What a character to turn it around in the way he has

Just listened to Bladespod. Great listen on the squads Roygbiv Beans .

Made me think on how difficult it would be to replace a left sided centre back.

If you look at the criteria of left centre back, if we stay in the Championship, probably domestic based as well and contract expiring in the summer the list isn't all that extensive:

Saiss, Mee, Ogbonna all very unlikely.

Sarr (Hudds), Barbet (QPR), Bradley (Luton), Wallace (Millwall), Xhemajli (Sunderland), Jach (Palace), Tafazolli (Wycombe), Thornily (Blackpool)

Then traditional left backs who can also play centre back:

Dummett (Newcastle), Elder (Hull)

I've excluded those out of contract who would command a decent fee as they are U23 e.g. Buchanan of Derby.

We may pull some foreign worldy out of the bag but IMHO, carrying on with JLT doesn't look that bad an option of those are the potential replacements.

I am not sure where I stand with Jack Robinson. Sometimes he puts a great tackle in - the blood and thunder type that we all love to see. He does Rory Delap style huge long throws which are wasted as our entire squad seem to be short arses that aren’t any taller than 6 foot.

Then the next game he makes a total defensive howler which costs us the game.

I’m sold. He hasn’t made one of those bad mistakes in a while and has put in some proper performances. I’d give him a contract - which left sided CB are we going to sign better than him, on a free?

Something else as well.....

Earlier in the season, somebody called Robinson out as having an attitude and being an arsehole to the younger members of the team....

Did you see him when young Osula came on? He was fantastic with the lad, straight over and trying to gee him up. Full time whistle, straight over and celebrating with the young, breakthrough lads.

Surprise, surprise..... more bullshit.

He's not made a mistake for a while and has been such a consistent performer.

He has been as good as we've got in terms of a solid attacking threat from that left centre half position since JOC, plus his heart and desire clearly inspires a more committed performance from others around him.
