This is Sheffield United we're talking about here. He's got to be some kind of con artist.

We'll probably end up liquidated and playing at graves park in 2 years.
I’ll prepare my drive for match day parking then 😂 nice little earner

It’s not that there’s no trace of this guy online, so he might be a secret billionaire, it’s that there are quite a few traces of him online and they all point to him being a fairly small-time businessman. His wife’s business that went bust was called “Three Gals Capital” ffs.

The danger is that this guy has somehow scraped together enough money to buy the club (or convinced someone to lend it to him) but then doesn’t have the funds to run it once he owns it.

If the prince is desperate to sell then he won’t be looking too closely at what might happen next.

I get the point, but unless he's the world's worst businessman or has been living under a rock, what would be the point in scraping £115m together to buy a club with nothing left over to invest and make it a success? Not a very sound investment strategy.

Asset stripping?

It’s a fair question. I’m still trying to work out why he made a bid for Newcastle and then disappeared when it was time to show them the money. Delusions of grandeur? Plenty of businesspeople get in over their heads.

Maybe the club posting a profit is the princeys way of hoodwinking investors to thinking they can get a return on their investment. Mind you princey won't have done too badly out of us

I'm no expert, but the players, the ground, the training ground for starters.
The players are worth fuck all.
The ground - debatable as to whether he’d be able to sell it for development on the land.
The training ground - maybe, but Shirecliffe is hardly prime real estate.

Can’t see that he’d recoup his £115m on all that, to be fair.

So which is it:
Chimera or charlatan?

Nobody knows. It's just that everything we do know looks dodgy. Look, I'll be delighted obviously if he's the front of a multi billionaire group ready to take us over but Newcastle went through this entire debacle with him (or this group) and you only have to look at their local journalists to see what they think about his supposed wealth and proof of funds. Even the guy who broke the story says he will "astounded" if it goes ahead given what happened with his Newcastle bid and the lack of transparency about his bid.

But allegedly spent £500,000 on lawyers only to then stall on Newcastle deal. Can't be that broke to drop half a mill on exploring a £350m deal

Maybe thought Newcastle was a terrible investment at that price. Or it could be dodgy!

No clue.

Nobody does. Its just that nothing as it stands points to anything good. If we find some evidence of him or the group having vast wealth every single person on this forum will be delighted.

Right now though everything we do know looks concerning and there's not much point trying to pretend differently. I don't think anybody is trying to be negative for the sake of it but we are talking about selling our entire club here. Its not just a transfer.

Like my "mate" with his fake Rolex and fake Oakley's taking up the salesman's time in the Range Rover showroom so he can tell his mates later. Only has Focus money but the salesman doesn't know that.
