There's clearly a lot of fans who are sceptical and that's fair enough, but I don't know that sticking with what we have is any better either! In the time the Prince has been in sole charge we've seen little development in the training ground - we're still using the dated and tired old sports ground that resembles a working men's club, or the ground, the academy is still cat 2 and whilst that's not the end of the world if we wanted to do the "make our own" approach and sign decent younger players than surely we'll need a cat 1 academy, or at least vast improvements on the existing training ground. And what has happened to the training ground new building that was promised!?
I think if the Prince stays we're set for years in the Championship quite honestly, it'll take a fee years for the younger players that we're developing/signing to come good.
Then we look at the last two transfer windows under the Prince. The Prince has stated before that he prefers permanent signings and I recall Hecky saying the same yet we've not signed one over either window and that to me is not good business as we're just developing other club's assets. This pre-season gone if we'd signed a few permanent players we may now be competing for the top two, as we should be as a relegated club, instead we're barely in the top 6, granted we've had bad injuries but I think we all would agree that we needed some reinforcements to this team, nothing major, and obviously finances are tight - I get that, but you only get one chance as a relegated team before more join us the next season with their parachute payments.
So, in conclusion, I'm optimistic to hear of a takeover because the alternative will be stagnation in all likelihood. It's basically back to the days under McCabe where we needed more investment, which of course, led to the Prince joining, but then we were skint and in league one, you can argue that it has led to an upsurge, although most of that was due to Wilder.
That's not to say, despite what it might sound like, that I'm anti the Prince staying, I just thing he clearly wants out and he's not likely to invest much unless we get promoted and that's the club's money anyway.
