So your family went back to work?! Down some Nottingham mines. Good for them. Not good shouting about that around these parts.
Why? What will someone in 'these parts' do ? A Strike was called by Scargill when there wasnt a vote. Why is someone a 'scab' for wanting to work ?

I worked for Barnsley Council during the 1984/5 Miners Strike and the puzzle was why the NUM didn’t call for a national vote. It was thought they wouldn’t win the vote because the NCB (the Tory government really) had set NCB region against NCB region such that the more productive mines like the Nottinghamshire ones were unlikely to vote with the low productivity mines in the rest of the country to strike. But that vote was never called so we’ll never know.

Id rather avoid them in the playoffs if we can - They are the best side i have seen at BDTBL this season , not saying we couldn't get past them but id rather avoid them

I totally agree they're the best side I've seen at The Lane this season but look at the side we had out and they still needed a 94th minute goal to get a point.

They're a good side but not as great as some are making out.

As the son of a Sheffield coal miner, id like to say you haven't got a clue.

As the Son of a Sheffield coal miner you really should move on. Many of the people who support Forest these days weren’t old enough to have anything to do with the Strikes. There’s really no need to continue to associate coal mining in the 80’s with supporting a football team in 2022.

Nobody under 50 gives a toss about the miners strike now. The only reason Blades fans call them scabs is because (inexplicably) Forest fans do seem to get wound up about it....Nothing else.
The Chesterfield v Mansfield thing has much more relevance to the miners strike, where after all these years, you don’t have to be in the confines of football stadium to hear someone being referred to as a scab.

Forest were better than us at the lane for large parts of the game but our disjointed
Mish mash of a team could and should have won that game
So let's not all touch each others tails about how invincible forest are
Let's also not forget that we managed a solid 8 from 5 despite:
A cert pen being denied in a 0-0 at the weekend +2
A cert pen being denied against Stoke in a 1-0 defeat +1
2 unfairly disallowed goals in a 0-0 with Blackpool +2

Without an absolute set of nobjockeys refereeing we'd have had 13 ourselves, another 5, and be sat pushing Bournemouth for 2nd. Even then you could argue had we struck first against Stoke we may not have conceded and that's with not hitting our levels in a few games and having as my injured as fit in others!

Move on pal. No wonder South Yorkshire doesn't keep up with other places, we're stuck in the past. I've seen both sides of the argument thanks to my partner coming from Hucknall. The fact Forest fans laugh when people call them Scabs say's it all.

It could be argued that it was Scargill's a actions that contributed to other men losing their jobs.
Agree that it it a childish chant
Thatcher closed the pits mate as an act of revenge, although their time was probably coming to an end. France closed theirs at the same time. Apologies this is a football thread.

All scousers arent on the dole, Derby fans don't shag sheep (at least I hope not) hardly any fans from the west country drive tractors etc etc.....the term Scab is used to wind Forest fans up and it does strike a nerve with some.

Maybe we should all just sit at a game and politely applaud when the other team attacks?

You mean Wednesday fans aren't really pigs 🐷😯😂

I have updated my table of remaining fixtures. I have added in Millwall as they are now ninth and probably have the easiest run in

Out of date showing QPR as a top 9 team (currently 11th). And some inaccuracies - you have Bournemouth playing Luton on 15th April but Luton play Forest on 15th April. But very useful anyway thanks. See how many of the top six teams have games against other top 6 teams, at least one of them HAS to drop points in all of these games. We only have one game v top six. I'd say only Middlesbrough have an easier run-in than us

Yes sorry Bournemouth do play Middlesborough not Luton on Friday. When I first did iot ie before Saturday QPR were ninth I think i could take them out now 5 straight defeats their confidence must be shot Millwall more of a threat

This seems to have developed into an historical my dad a better dad than your dad discussion.

The only reason I d like to see Forest go up is because they are the biggest threat to us atm than the others in the play offs.

The other arguments need a thread of their own. One of which I ll willingly add my two pence worth to.

I hope Forest don’t get second; I hope they crash and miss out on the top 6. But if they get top 6 I hope we get them in either the SF or final and spoz a 1-0 with a Basham hand of god, which VAR would definitely rule out but can’t as it’s ongoing trial in the PL means it hasn’t yet arrived in the Championship.

PS, Fuck Forest.

Our last two games are tricky and somehow I think Cardiff might be difficult as well, but three wins should get us there.

How many times have we gone into the play offs as the form team and failed , regular season form is no guarantee in the play offs !

Bournemouth are made for the Premier league with their diving and rolling around shit. Must be in their DNA cos they've being doing it a while now, long before current manager rolled up

They don't laugh though do they? It still stings regardless of what they'd have you believe.

I don't know whether it stings or not, but do you think they care what people call them, just for earning a wage for their families..? Stick and stones..

Gave Maggie the support she needed to beat the unions, which gave her the confidence to try and push through poll tax a few years later, thinking she was invincible.

Plenty protested against poll tax in Nottingham, one of the leading cities of the whole protest campaign. In fact I believe Nottingham was 4th on the list of cities with the highest unpaid poll tax.

Happy to side with her and take her money a few years earlier though, when it suited 🤷

Forest fans in the main are very similar to our friends in S6. They think they're better than they are and have a confidence in their team that we'd do well to grab some of. Two of my best friends are long-term Forest season tickets holders and listening to them you'd think they'd already secured promotion.

They are the best side to come to Bramall Lane and in Spence and Johnson have the best right hand side in the division. I certainly wouldn't want to face them should we make the playoffs.
