Ben Davies another player I'd like to see on a permanent basis. The behind the scenes stuff is a large part of the game fans don't see.
Very true. I've recently removed all my social media for a detox, which is feeling worthwhile, but what I do miss and what it does make you appreciate is the accessibility the club provides now, with the content and behind the Blades stuff too, the club are very good at it. It's certainly aiding the connection with the squad and fanbase again. Take for example, any previous famous Blades match from yesteryear, such as the Forest playoff semifinal, and imagine if we'd have had the same access back then.

I (and I’ll say it) was a defender of Robinson when he was getting ripped to bits - abused verbally (compared to something that wouldn’t flush round the U bend in a toilet ) and royally hammered

I’m chuffed to boys for him and the squad and us he’s starting to win some people round .

In the good old days , if you thought someone was crap (and we all have our favourites) you talked about it with your mates i the pub / school etc . Nowadays players get slaughtered via social media in a way that , if you were face to face with them, you would never repeat .

As said

Well done Robbo

Love

Dad

At what stage dare we mention a new contract?

Is there really much point releasing a guy for nothing who is starting to come into his own to then have to immediately get a replacement?

If we go up, then he's ideal back up, but more experienced and dare I say it, capable.

If we stay down, then you have to acknowledge that at this level, he's hardly put a foot wrong in the recent run.

I still think as a team we can make more of his long throws but as a minimum, they are very handy for clearing out lines.

It seems that nobody has mentioned it so far, but without a young player really pushing for the LCB role, he's certainly doing his part to start the discussion about an extended stay.

Yep almost forgot he's almost out of contract at end of season.

Definitely should be looking to tie him down for longer period, we all know how hard it has to get someone in to fill JOCs role.

Last thing we want to be doing is being back to square one looking for a patch up solution if Robinson leaves.

Jack Robinson was utter gash at the start of the season but we can't argue with the fact that over recent games, he's been part of one of the meanest defences in the country. We've seen him at his best as a solid, reliable Championship defender, hardly Maldini or Van Dijk but has done his job stopping the ball going in the net and also at his worst where there are at least a couple of goals where the blame can be apportioned to him and some lapses in concentration.

Had Ben Davies been fully available, we wouldn't have seen much of him and at this point, offering a new deal to someone who has barely played would have looked a bit foolish and nobody would have batted an eyelid about him going.

A lot depends on which division we're in. Premier League and I think we let him go, we should be able to afford better and I wouldn't like his chances against some of the better attacking players at that level. At Championship level, he's proved that can fill in and do a job and if we don't go up, then give him another year because we'll probably need him at some point.

If we do go up, then we might need to be a bit hard faced about it where we have to do similar to what Brighton and Fulham did with Norwood and cut some players adrift who probably can't make the step up.

I think if we made PL, he would deserve his chance as he would’ve helped earned our spot there. Saying that, i would want a PL standard LCB to step in if he was to lose his place. I’d fucking love Jake Cooper if we could get our hands on him

What makes you think Jake Cooper would be capable of stepping up to the PL? I’m not aware of any PL club having shown any serious interest in him and he’s been around for quite a few years now.

solid LCB, definitely capable at Champ level and i reckon he could do it at prem, worth a pun at least i reckon

He's far too lightweight even at championship level. Another game another headed goal from a set piece conceded by our defence. Robinson, Davies and Egan get bossed aerially so much its untrue.

Think I'd rather have JOC n Bash back.....

Another immense performance from Jack,

Seem to recall during a boro attack he got 3 blocks in, add a well taken goal on his wrong foot and surely he’s becoming a Bob Booker cult hero?

Many players have crumbled under the stick he got (some of it rightly so)

But he’s stood up to be counted

And looks like a proper Blades player - top lad👍

Probably the most improved player this season. And he seems to take on the praise well from the crowd. He is growing into a true blade, like Bash and Bob. I am really impressed with the transformation. He's finally realised we appreciate good dedication and commitment. I hope his contract is extended and he continues his new lease of life and becomes another Blade hero. Outside the prem, there's nothing better imo.

I was very critical of him in the past and I'd stand by my points at the time, but huge credit to him, he's took his mistakes on the chin and really turned his game round. Before I was hoping one of the U23s would get a chance ahead of him, now I don't want him dropped for a fit Davies. He's miles calmer on the ball, seems to read the game exceptionally, often drives forward on dare I say Basham like runs and to top it off has a few well taken goals under his belt. He's stepped up massively and I hope he's rewarded with a contract.

I think a lot of the critism he received was warranted at the time. Just like now the praise he gets is warranted, he's been exceptional the last 2 months or so

He has got better and better ever since that win at Fulham. He has cut out the mistakes and apparently Ben Davies has been helping him as well.

We have to remember JLT is actually a left back and we are making him into a LCB.

We were saying tonight on the Kop that it's crazy to suggest that based on recent form Robinson is our best central defender.
A few months ago he was an accident waiting to happen, looked out of his depth at Championship level always making a blunder or two every match.
Just goes to show what confidence can do, he's been great the last 2 months and getting better.
Take a bow, the guy deserves praise.

Humble pie eaten by me and apologies offered for unkind statements his way.

Mind you, in some games, he was fucking dreadful. Mainly in the four-at-the-back Slav days

pommpey
You're not the only one eating humble pie. Tonight, he looked calm, composed and unruffled on the ball, and even chipped in with a well-taken goal on his weaker foot.

He looks lightyears ahead of the player he used to. Long may it continue.

Huge , old school defender performance from him tonight . Blocks , tackles , headers and crucial interceptions and no little ability in bringing the ball out of defence .

I’m chuffed to bits for the lad who to my mind has now achieved ‘deserves his own song ‘ status and it’s not a difficult choice .......

“ And here’s to you , Jackie Robinson

We all love you more than you will know

Oh oh oh .....”. etc . :)

hindsight is always crystal clear 20/20 vision, but how can anyone explain Slav and his back 4, the rigid persistence, when the squad had been built around 3 AND the decision to sign Davies, albeit on loan, the defender the transfer team must have a dossier crammed full of info regarding him being previously Id'd as a perfect fit for a role in a back 3

Pretty sure I heard an attempt to get that going on the kop towards the end tonight. 100% he deserves it.

He‘s far more front foot in his approach, probably knowing Egan is always behind him in the three. He’s relishing physical challenges against opponents and seemingly intimidating them. If he keeps it the right side of the line, he‘ll keep his place on merit, which a hell of a turnaround.

Credit to the manager too - our players are just better for playing more physically and simply. Sorry Slav.
