Thought there would only be me on here who was there, small world.
and the 2-1 play off semi 2nd leg win at Ipswich also under Kendall.
In 1973 I went to Wembley for England v. Poland (the famous Tomaceski 'clown' game).
It finished 2-2
This just edges out the Forest match for excitement and sheer enjoyment. It was the evening after my first GCSE exam and I legged it out of the hall at the end, and just made it off the tube into my Uncle's car in time for the journey. The car broke down so we had to switch to my Aunt's car. Eventually made it to Portman Road and the match was incredible. A great goal by Kat (was it over the line or not?!?), a good comeback by Ipswich, Andy Walker scoring the equaliser which eventually put us through oon away goals and Nick Henry getting sent off for kicking Mauricio Taricco, something mny people would have gladly done at the time!
I believe that was the last time away goals counted double in play off matches as they realised it effecitvely gave the lower placed side an advantage as they could potentially have an extra 30 minutes to score an away goal.

I was there, probably one of the greatest rearguard actions by a United side. From what i can remember we barely mustered two shots on target all night, whilst Ipswich battered us with countless shots. Alan Kelly picked up an injury but we couldn't replace him for whatever reason, and Nicky Henry got sent off.
Got to be V leeds in playoffs,
Got to be V leeds in playoffs, just for my fave goal of all time, just got shivvers watching it again, and again, and again

Playoffs?
leeds home around 1974.. midweek night match.. finished a 1 - 1 draw
mates dad got us some freebies on the john street stand, right in the middle of the leeds fans
we went behind after about five minutes and from then on in true 'dirty leeds' style they proceeded to time waste and pull every trick in the book of gamesmanship and some not in the book.. we were getting serious beef from the leeds fans even though they were blokes and we were about ten.. typical.. the second half started late (due to all of the battling on the kop i think) and we were still one down as we went into extra time.. anyways a timed firework display for the end of the game went off at its normal time and the teams were still playing.. there was smoke everywhere.. steve cammack (or steve cack as my mate used to call him) made his usual sub appearance and picked up the ball on what seemed the half way line and line up for a shot.. we were thinking 'oh no' but the he slammed the bastard home from what seemed to my ten year old eyes to be forty yards out.. after all of what had gone on it seemed like a victory.. everyone was going mental and some random bloke picked me up over his head.. the leeds fans were furious and so was billy bremner.. heh.. we had to be escorted out of the 'leeds section' for our own safety.. i think due to that draw they lost the title to derby but i could be wrong
Fantastic night. For once I don't think I was alone in what was a pretty hardcore following that night thinking we had no chance which made it all the more remarkable - of course they were just setting us up for a bigger fall in the final.
OOps, yeah, spent most of that season quite refreshed, I think that was the lucky whiskey season![]()
Playoffs?
If I had to choose just 1 it would be Shefield United 5 Cardiff City 1 - April 1971. Words can't do it justice.
The team were the only ones to get to a playoff final without winning a game in the semis. It was 1 1 at lane, 2 2 at dipswich.Apart from the obvious ones like Forest play off semi and wins over Wednesday at Hillsborough amongst my favourites are a 6-3 away win at Luton towards the end of Bassets reign, a 4-0 away win at Stoke under Kendall and the 2-1 play off semi 2nd leg win at Ipswich also under Kendall.
