Genuinely pleased Ched is finding the back of the net (I am, really) but he is a long way from a decent striker.
DW stated in his after match summary that Ched can get a goal out of nothing and that he doesn't necessarily need the service from other players to get them - that's bollocks.
He doesn't really use his team mates and most of his goals are just a thumping shot (his best and pretty much only decent asset) - there is no finesse or style to him, limited pace, relatively light weight and poor control. When he has to think about anything he invariably fails. If he reacts to a situation presented to him then he can be effective - but that is a random factor that will limit him throughout his career.
Fair play to Ched, good reactions for the first - after a good flick on to Cresswell - when the ball came back to him. A good, hard, low, drilled shot finding the back of the net.
Second was a blasted free kick under the wall - the lads in the wall jumped - so if they did their homework OK they would have just stayed still and the shot would have been blocked.
I have never seen Ched curl one to the top corner - all his free kicks are the same and he relies on the wall not doing its job.
As stated earlier, with two goals in 7 minutes early in the first half I am really surprised that he didn't go all out for a hat trick. Cannot imagine Keith Edwards sitting on a brace against opposition like Oxford in the cup.
Pleased he is doing better but far from a World beater and far from the sort of player that will fire you to a promotion.
His crossing is suspect, his one on one technique is suspect (although there is a rumour that 2 on 1 is more effective), his vision is negligible and he seems to drift right out of a game.
Contrast that with Sam Vokes - thought he was a decent player when on loan to us last year - strong, good link up play, aware of other players around him, eye for goal, clever touches etc - scored a brace for Wales at the weekend. Notice that Gary Speed isn't touching Ched with a barge pole these days. Even heard him described as a "former Welsh international" on the radio Saturday at 23 years of age. That has to say a lot about his development.
